Food is phenomenal, other than that you have to experience this yourself. Rudy’s special is the go to. Waitress is a sweetheart, if only I could hire you all in my kitchen full time lol! Thanks guys, hope you continue the success you’ve got going on for years to come.

Only the BEST, independent, neigborhood diner in Northridge. Great for the Special: two pancakes, two eggs, two bacon, two sausage, with hash browns. The Special is what I keep going back for. Parking on Reseda Blvd, parking in private lot behind restaurant. Low key, no-glamour, just a plain American diner /coffee shop experience with a variety of items on menu. Booth seating, long front counter, and one table for a big party of six or so. The booths seat just two persons comfortably. CASHONLY.

First time here and absolutely loved everything about this place. The service was amazing although it was busy, of course on a Sunday morning, they accommodated me to a table because I brought my service dog. Not only was everyone friendly the food was amazing and the price was cheap. very home feeling. A variety of people from old to young students. I will definitely come back.

I stopped in earlier to enjoy a simple mom and pop diner hoping to get some great food for my money. The pros: It has that nice local diner feel with bar top seats at the kitchen and small booths around the dining area. It didn’t take long at all to be seated and the prices were very reasonable. The cons: This place could use some remodeling. I’m sure the food is safe, but it does not look the cleanest in there and the furnace looks as though it’s been there since the 90s. Even though the prices are modest, the food is nothing to brag about. My corned beef hash look a little over done with little to no flavor. Overall impression: I would not mind stopping in again for something simple and affordable to eat. It’s a nice change from the typical corporate Denny’s and IHOP, however expect to get meals that you can easily make at home for yourself. Maybe if I order something different next time, I might change my review of this place.

Loving the atmosphere with the home feel. Came in on a Sunday morning found a table right away unlike Denny’s. Having the Rudy special which sounds amazing! Great attitude and service. Keep in mind that it is cash only as well.

You know I love breakfast and breakfast to me is really important. Especially that my girlfriend and I always like to eat breakfast, we tend to try different restaurants and diners to know just in case we don’t want to go back to the same old thing. Overall Joyce’s Coffee Shop is very very good. I love the Rudy’s special because it’s comes a lot for a good price. It looks retro too and I love that because I feel like I’m home. Go to Joyce’s coffee shop ! It’s really worth it !

My boyfriend and I have tried several breakfast places around the area and this is our favorite. Joyce’s has a great retro feel from the setting to the service. For someone who has a big appetite, it says a lot that they filled up my boyfriend. The price is reasonable and the quality great. I don’t usually enjoy pancakes but I love theirs, and the omlets are great. We especially love the sundried tomato ketchup. Really a factor that keeps us coming back. The only difficulty we have with this place is the inconvenience of them not accepting card. So make sure you have cash on you, or you’re ready to pay a service fee to use their in store atm.

This is a hole-in-the wall diner, very diner feel. My mom absolutely loved it here. My mom came to visit me and wanted pancakes, we were going to go to Ihop across the street but they closed. Thank goodness for Unilocal because it showed Joyce’s across the street and it made our day so much better. If you can’t find parking in the front, there is parking in the back, just turn on Rayen, and the parking is behind all the shops. My mom was really excited because it had a very old type of diner décor, but it is also really small. It is not great for big groups, but 2 – 3 people it is fine. The waitress who is also owner was really nice. We had really great service when visiting. She also speaks Spanish, so it made it better and more comfortable for my mom who was excited. They have so many breakfast options, but we wanted Rudy’s Special. It includes eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and pancakes, everything you want for breakfast. The eggs were rally good, really fluffy. It’s not like the breakfast was the best I had, but it was a good deal for around $ 8. I was also really hungry so it was really good. I don’t drink coffee, but my mom really enjoyed it. I think she had like 3 cups without realizing she should stop drinking it. This place only accepts CASH, so don’t forget to bring your bills. If you don’t have cash, there is an ATM machine to withdraw some cash. Overall, a great experience here. Good breakfast food, very calm atmosphere and good service.

Delicious food! Friendly staff! Very home style welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely choose this over any I hop or Denny’s. Support your local business!

The huevos rancheros were literally drowning in salsa and salty. I believe the cook probably dropped a whole 3 cups of salt on the hash browns and instead of giving us separate plates of toast they just put them all together on one. 2nd plate was a California omelette, the hash browns were a lil too burnt on the top, and salty! I had to use a lot and I mean a lot of pepper to make it taste better. The omelette was ok, a lil less avocado the better, but personal preference of course. The price was ridiculous for two breakfast specials, we paid almost $ 30 and got no refills on our drinks, Which were Oj’s. Paying was cash only, the receipt that they gave us was the most confusing outta the ordeal. We should’ve gone to Denny’s.

I love trying little coffee shops, some are amazing. However, my experience here was not so good. We ordered our food and while the dishes started coming to the table fair quick, it took 15 or 20 mins to get us all the food. Several dishes were wrong and had to be redone. For example, one dish came without cheese. She sent ti back to have the cheese added and they threw a slice of cheese on the eggs and did not even melt it, hot eggs and cold cheese on top. The waitress was sarcastic and tried saying it was the way things were ordered but it was not. The sausage was rock hard and the hash browns were way overdone. I ordered a diet coke and was brought a can and straw. I will not be going back any time soon.

Sadly, nostalgia’s given way to profits. For the past few decades, periodically we’ve enjoyed stopping by for a typical, local«coffee house» breakfast. I think its charm was its simplicity. We’re not sure when the most recent changes were implemented, but they’ve definitely confirmed our decision to never return. While our complaints cover a spectrum, it’s because our chief complaint is a policy, that we’ve decided to share. We stopped in at 10:30, on an average Wednesday morning in the middle of October, for a simple breakfast for two. We’d become used to the«cash only» policy, but in this era, prospective customers should know, they don’t even accept a debit card. Now, you can use their convenient ATM, for an additional fee. And, while the incredibly poor service of that day was out of character, it doesn’t excuse our having to ask the busboy 6 times to get our waitress, drinks, & every other detail we needed, because our waitress was socializing, from the moment we arrived until after we left. However, our main complaint & the deciding factor, was that our rather small breakfast for two, totaled $ 31.50 — I kid you not. When we asked the busboy for our ticket, & he had the waitress drop it off, it was impossible to decipher, with $ 25.50 circled on the front. We’d given up trying to get our waitress to come to us, so, I took the ticket to her & stated, «Could you please check this total? Considering we both had specials, I don’t see how this total could be correct?» She checked it & stated, «You’re right, there’s an error. I undercharged you.» And with that, she scribbled out the first total, & circled a new total of $ 26.50. Even though I was shocked, I still asked her to itemize each charge. During which a wave of disbelief set in, & I handed her an extra $ 4, as a tip, & only regret not giving it to the busboy, who’d actually earned it. You be the judge, & see if this was worth the«value» to you? Our drinks: — 2 «cans» of Coke, @ $ 2.00 each(both delivered by busboy, who provided a glass with ice) — 1 small cup of coffee, no top-offs or refills offered, provided with 2 creams only, @ approx $ 2.00 Our Specials — 1 Basic @ $ 5.99 = 1 small egg, 1 strip bacon, 1 small scoop hashbrowns &1 single piece of toast only, with just 1 pkg of jam (this brkfst, w/cup of coffee, with tax & no tip, totaled nearly $ 10 alone) — Special @ $ 7.99 = 2 small eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 1 small scoop hashbrowns, 2 pieces toast w/jam. 1 slice ham = $ 4 extra (this bkfst, w/ham &2 Cokes, w/tax & no tip totaled nearly $ 17.00) There wasn’t enough food on either plate to bother with a doggie bag. On our last visit we’d noticed the size of the hotcakes had shrank substantially, but thought we’d give it another chance. We could even try to rationalize it, if the plates were overflowing & the drinks had free refills. Instead, our food was served on standard 8″ plates, & the servings were so small that the food items didn’t even touch each other… That almost seems impossible when describing eggs & hashbrowns, and it’s exactly why I use it to illustrate the point: What value are you getting for your money? Not nearly enough, in our opinion.

Food is average diner food. Good and cheap, nothing special, but no complaints. But the customer service here is awesome! Friendly faces, positive energy and the staff keep checking on you to ensure you don’t need anything. Magdalena, or «Maggie» is so sweet. She is friendly with new customers and reguars. I love the interaction between the staff and customers. That’s very important to me in a neighborhood coffee shop.

Really wanted to like this place as it is close to home and reminds me of the old school diners I grew up up with. The cash only didn’t bother me as much as did the mediocre food and terrible service. We waited 15 minutes for someone to even take our order. Prices are fair portions are okay but everything is lacking from ambiance to service to food quality. Once we actually got service it was friendly but lacking. You definitely get to see the whole business. As waitresses stand in front of customers make themselves a sandwich and eating and doing everything except taking care of the people waiting. ATM is very expensive so bring your own cash. … …And what the hell is up with the biscuits and gravy??? You can get better at fast food restaurants. This should be one of their hallmarks instead you get Little round mini pancake things with no flavor no texture and only about as thick as a cookie covered in bland white goo… sad. a missed opportunity.

CASHONLY!!! But you can use their expensive ATM located conveniently inside. I told the waitress I’m not using that machine I have cash in my car. As I was walking to my car to get cash I noticed the two waitresses whispering to each other. Walking back in I noticed the other waitress had gone outside pretending to smoke a cigarette(it was not lit), watching me like I’m a criminal. The food. Slightly above Average priced at $ 8.50. I had Only water, no coffee tea or soda. Bacon hash brown and eggs were average Biscuit and gravy was terrible. Probably worst I ever had

We’ve seen and passed this place over the years. Finally stopped to give it a try. My wife loved the place even before we ordered. I had my hands on the table as one of the servers was cleaning it. She playfully slapped my hand for me to move them so she could clean the table. The service is great. Everyone was so warm and friendly. It is a nice small coffee shop. As you will see in my photo, it should be an indication of how good my meal was. Its cash only, so I expect that is how they keep their price of meals down. We are looking forward to coming back and try some other items on the menu.
