Jojuda’s Salon & Day Spa

I initially found Jojuda salon and day spa on Groupon; they had a 50% discount on their full weave service so I did a little research, called them to make sure it was legit and then purchased the voucher through Groupon turns out it’s only good for one stylist which is something they DIDN’T SPECIFY and they wouldn’t honor the deal so I had to pay full price. On the day of my appointment, David (the stylist/​co-​owner), was late. Not only that, but he had double booked the appointment. That was only the beginning. Don’t go to David if you are tender headed. He asked me if I was and when I said yes he continued to braid excessively tight! When I told him about it he said he wanted it to lay flat. It seemed like he was too busy with his sideline conversations to really pay attention to the fact that I was cringing in pain the whole time he was braiding. When he was finished with my had he seemed surprised that it was too tight and told me that it would loosen up after a couple of days. I called him after a day because I was in so much pain, the receptionist was no help whatsoever and told me that she would have him call me back which he never did. I tried to call a second time and their phone has been disconnected. This weave is so tight I have to sleep sitting up. I can barely function it hurts so much. I am so angry right now because I paid $ 250 so I could look good for my Marine corps ball and I won’t even get to keep it in because I have to take this weave out. My hair follicles and sanity are more important than looking cute.

I really love coming to this salon, they are friendly, professional, and all the stylists in here can really do some hair. They greet you when you walk in, they have comfy couches in the waiting area, clean restroom, and plenty of eateries they share the complex with to choose from. My stylist, Mr. Chuck himself aka the Hair Editor aka the Color Connoisseur has been hooking me up for twenty years now. He has a great eye for color, and fingers of magic especially when he washes your hair, omg he should offer scalp massages on the side. If you need your hair done he is the one to see, trust me once you try him you will be hooked, and your hair will grow. Just found out today I no longer have to make that 2 hour 405 drive to see him now, because he is sharing his time at a salon in LA now, YES!!!

Joanne is the BEST!!! I am so sorry I have not written this review before now but hold on to your weaves ladies…
I started going to Joanne over a year ago. I wanted to transition from perms to the wave nouveau (permanent wave). I had done a TON of research having grown up during the jerry curl era. I found mixed reviews online but loved the possibilities. I Googled salons that offer permanent waves and found JoJuda’s. It took me a few months to commit.
1^st-​Star: I made my appointment ONLINE y’all. Loved that! I got to see Joanne’s schedule and make an appointment when I wanted. No hold music here. It even sent a reminder, not that it had too.
2^nd Star: I had to change my appointment once and that was absolutely painless.
3^rd Star: During my first appointment I had a few questions and she answered them, plus gave her professional opinion and advice on the service I was seeking. She stated she had several other clients that has the same process done. This was about 20 minutes.
4^th Star: My hair is 2−½ inches longer than when I started with Joanne. According to some people who have permanent waves, shedding and brittle hair can cause breakage and the hair will not grow. Joanne’s strong advice: KEEP IT MOISTURIZED. I love the look and no-​dripping. Yes, it feels greasy when you first apply product but that goes away. As long as you pay attention to your hair, you’ll be fine. All in all, I love my hair now, and the 10 minutes it takes to style it in the mornings.
5^th Star: The salon is clean. Not ghetto; and by that I mean everyone is professional and understand you do not want to spend your day in the chair. Joanne is always prompt and professional. She listens to me and answers all questions. Yes, there is talking and laughing. Everyone who works there seem to genuinely love the place. Which makes it very welcoming.
I do not see myself going anywhere else. I would recommend this salon for everything from basic wash and straightening, to weaves, to braids, and permanent waves of course.

This was my first time going to this salon. David was my stylist. He did a good job on my hair. It felt very soft and looked really healthy.
Overall the salon has a good atmosphere. And all the stylist were nice. The thing that was a turn off for me is that I don’t like random people washing my hair. They have a shampoo lady Carol who was nice enough but her technique could be a little better. She washed my hair with a lot of scrunchy motion which caused my hair to tangle where it is usually easy to comb out
Carol also wind up blow drying me out which was a bit rough. Once I reiterated that I was tender headed she tried to be a bit lighter with the comb. She left my hair a bit wetter than I would like and when I mentioned it to David he agreed and put me under the dryer for a few minutes
Based on my experience I would recommend this salon because for what it’s worth they do value your time to get you in and out without to much of a wait.

Kelly has been my stylist almost 10 years. She is talented and knowledgeable. I like the salon and the stylists do a great job with their clients. Bree has also braided my daughters hair. The location is convenient. Kelly takes great care of my hair. In need of a salon/​stylist for the new year? Give them a call.

Jihan did an amazing job on my haircut. This review is well overdue! I’ve been trying to have the same haircut done on me by different hair stylist and I have yet to find someone to replicate it. If I didn’t have student loans I would go back, but the prices are a bit on the steep side for me. For the amount of detail and time she takes trying to find a style that fits you, I could see the worth. I got many compliments from friends. Make sure you ask for Jihan, oh and she does many other services too, just ask!

I came to get my hair done by David. He’s been doing my hair years, he’s the only one I’ll let near my hair. (I’m picky) The other stylists are very talented too. I’ve watched their work the times I’ve been there. Just go in and take your pick of stylists, you just can’t go wrong.
Yulonda the esthetician is great also. While getting my hair done I figured I’d stay for a wax. IM SO GLAD I DID!!! It was virtually painless and she was very thorough. I’m definitely coming back to see her!

The service and stylists at Jojuda’s are fabulous. The salon offers a one stop beauty extravaganza. Hair, nails, facials, makeup and conveniently located. I love my «do» everytime its «done» but i also love all the styles i see being done on others. These folks are truly talented!
