Amazing food, amazing service! First time I’ve ever been into a place and been treated so nice from the waiters to the owners! Had the gyro plate was huge and good! This place is legit!

The best Greek restaurant in the valley. I have never had anything that was not good; everything is so yummy. We were hesitant to try this place, because my husband told me that they have changed their menu a few times over the past several years. Last time he dined at Alexis, they were doing this weird«healthy» Greek food menu that was awful. That is no longer the case, their menu is awesome. I am so glad we tried it – we are hooked! Also, they have great customer service. The only compliant I ever made was about their avgolemono soup, because it hardly had any orzo noodles. I told the waiter and he said that could not make more orzo for me :-(But they quickly rectified the situation by bringing over a cup of rice for my soup — free of charge. YAY! Lastly, their Greek pastries are AMAZING!

Great place with great food. The outside is very basic so I wasn’t expecting the experience we got. The food was great, the service was impeccable and definitely a place to frequent,

Had lunch here with my cousins yesterday! Lunch was wonderful. Server recommended a sampler ofappetizers for us to share! Not only was it wonderful and we each found things we loved but it was almost enough for lunch by itself! We did order lunch though yum! 2 Chicken piri piri ! Again yum! My hubby had the gyro plate! He was very happy and 1 had a salad that was also delicious! Overall we all took home left overs which also reheated nicely!(So no having to make dinner!) We did order 2 desserts that we split which were also incredible! Definately will be repeat guests! Special thanks to David our server who was awesome! (I usually do not gush over places very often!)

First time here. Followed the Server’s recommendation for the Piri Piri Chicken. To say I loved it would be an understatement. Great atmosphere, great and very friendly service. Definitely looking forward to coming back here.

Ordered a greek salad with chicken for lunch last week. Over priced and by far the worst greek salad I have ever had! The chicken tasted as if it was straight out of a microwave and completely rubbery! I don’t know if they full understand the meaning of «grilled chicken». The feta tasted like goat cheese and didn’t compliment the salad at all. The dressing was OK. Definitely not ordering from this establishment again!

I had my birthday dinner here last night, my first time at this restaurant. Our table was ready when we arrive and we were greeted warmly. Service was prompt and friendly and the food was amazing. I had the Lamb Shish Kebob, it was so good, the Lamb was melting in my mouth. My friend had the Salmon Fillet and she said her’s was equally as good. This is now going to be my meet up restaurant with friends in the Valley. Oh and they have a good wine list.

We come here for the top Greek food in the Valley. Off the shirts customer service and full wine list from both Greek and Portuguese grapes. Highly recommended. Try the Branzino; there is no place in Northern Los Angeles that makes it better.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! Seriously, if I were on death row my last meal would be chicken Piri Piri! Also, all the desserts are phenomenal & David is the sweetest. Chef Fatima also comes out to say hi. Love this place.

It’s unfortunate that this restaurant is in the shadow of an IHOP, formerly Rosie’s BBQ. You can’t stumble upon this restaurant, unless you find it on your trusty Unilocal app or by other word-of-mouth. You can’t see it on the street along Tampa and Nordhoff. Alexis Greek & Portuguese Restaurant is a gem in the sea of chain restaurants all over the Valley. I have discovered, despite the chain restaurants, the San Fernando Valley is a goldmine when it comes to great ethnic places to eat in comparison to the other Valley, Santa Clarita Valley to the north. I think we have some of the best food in the city. We even have to me, the best empanadas in the city made by a white surfer dude. The restaurant has been operation since 1972, mostly likely evolving to its current state. The husband and wife team are the drivers of the menu here. The husband chef is Greek and wife chef Fatima is Portuguese. Looking through the menu is a bit overwhelming with all the choices of Greek and Portuguese food I wanted to try. So, I did what I normally do. I asked, what is their most popular dish? My server pointed out to the combination plate from the appetizer section to eat with my favorite Chicago-style pita bread and the combo Greek platter so I can have«a bit of everything.» From the Portuguese back menu, he told me Chef Fatima’s chicken piri-piri was the best seller. I ordered my favorite avgolemeno soup from the Greek side of the menu and the chicken piri-piri from the Portuguese side. On the menu, they have a section of California wines, as well as Portuguese and Greek wines by the glass and bottles. They also had a beer selection of domestic, and Greek and Portuguese beer. They even had, Sumol, the passionfruit Portuguese soda. The restaurant is charming in every sense. It’s rustic. It’s old school white table cloth restaurant by real candlelight. They actually light a tall candle once you sit at your table. I could imagine this place in Europe at one of the charming restaurants I’ve dined during my travels throughout Eastern and Western Europe from Serbia, Hungary, Italy, to Spain. I loved it. It had character. In comparison to the Great Greek, which also has really good Greek food on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, this one is quieter, where at the Great Greek, I could barely have a conversation with my table mates there because it is a much livelier«My Big Fat Greek Wedding» kind of a restaurant. The only other place I have found Portuguese food in LA is Nata’s Pastries in Sherman Oaks. I did a quick search, and there’s not that many Portuguese restaurants. The ones I did find are all located in the San Fernando Valley. There a newish fast casual Peri-Peri chicken spot in Burbank as the third I found. There’s a Macau/Portuguese/Chinese restaurant in Hollywood, so I didn’t count that one. There’s also a Portuguese bakery in Artesia. Parking is much easier here and Chef Fatima is sweet. She comes by to every table to check on her guests. I love, love this place. Highly recommended!

Nice and quiet for date night with good food. My date had the Greek beer and thought it was excellent. We had the lamb and filet(Portuguese style) and both were good.

Run, don’t walk … One word — Giuvetsi !!! Fabulous!!! I cannot speak for all the food here, but if what we ate is a basis for comparison, then this has to be an outstanding restaurant. I can hardly believe that more Elite Unilocalers haven’t discovered this place yet. We sat down to review a large lunch menu. Our waiter David was enormously helpful when it came to making the best choices to reach our goal which I explicitly stated was, «Make sure you serve us a fabulous Greek meal!» Mr. Picky was in one of his moods today. Instead of starting with hot appetizers and sharing those foods, he decided he wanted to leave his stomach real estate available for the main entrée of lamb. He wanted to start off sharing the Alexis Greek Salad and we did that. It was cold, refreshing, and a wonderful way to start the meal. Now that the digestive juices were flowing, it was time for the main event. Although it was not on the lunch menu, the dish the waiter suggested that we select is on the dinner menu and was already prepared because the chef starts early on the preparation of the slow roasted shoulder cooked with wine and a little tomato. This dish is called Giuvetsi and we are both adding it to our list of favorite Greek foods. The orzo side pasta has a little bit of cheese which melts beautifully once the hot tomato sauce is poured over the top of it. Mr. Picky loved that and he loved this entire dish! He is a happy man! We love discovering new dishes and this was a great culinary add to our repertoire. In fact he loved the orzo so much that he said next time he orders this dish he will ask for orzo only with the lamb and tell them to keep the vegetables in the kitchen. :-) He even went so far as to say that in future he would pay for extra sauce because it was just so wonderful. Neither of us had to add any salt or pepper because the seasoning was just perfect, so congratulations to the chef for getting that just right. It’s my job to find new restaurants for us and this one was definitely a homerun! When Mr. Picky is happy with his food, you cannot believe what a delightful person he is, so I’m happy, too! This is the best lamb I have had in Southern California. Well, except for what came out of my mother’s or my kitchen. The best lamb in Northern California is at a restaurant called Evvia in Palo Alto, but in the Los Angeles area this is where I’m going to be eating lamb in the future. Because waiter David’s suggestion was so spot on for the entrée, we told him to also pick our dessert choice. I recommend that you request waiter David if he is on shift, because he really knows the menu after 11 years on the job. We told him that for dessert we wanted to try items that were either traditional, or were unique to this particular restaurant and that we could not get anywhere else. The result was his serving us baklava, and the house coconut pineapple cake. The cake was beautifully moist, and really quite amazingly light, which lessened our guilt :-). I hate eating baklava if it is dry, but their pistachio-filled homemade baklava was perfectly moist and a lovely eating experience. Great meal.

Very nice ambiance, beautiful paintings on the wall very authentic feel, has a relaxing feel to it. The waiters are very nice and engaging, one let my mom try a couple different wines to choose one. He knew about everything on the menu and seemed passionate about the food. We had the greek feast. All the appetizers were really great. Salad was a great greek salad spanakopita and cheese pie was yummy meatballs were also good.

Been here a few times over the years with my family and have to say I really enjoy it. The service is generally very good with my only complaint being that it can be slow if they are busy. The ambiance is very nice and the food is delicious. Love that they play the authentic greek music. We came here for my fathers birthday this week and had a lovely dinner. Started with an order of pita bread and the combination of 3 dips. We got the Hummus, feta dip, and eggplant dip. I am not a fan of eggplant but my parents enjoyed that. We all agreed that the feta dip was the best of the 3. The hummus was very good as well. The pita was super fresh and I’d say there were about 12 triangles so the portion size was substantial. I ordered the spanokopita plate which came with 3 triangles of spanokopitax grilled veggies and roasted potatoes. The roasted potatoes were a little dry for my taste and could have used some more seasoning but they were good, the grilled veggies is a mixture of green beans, carrots, zucchini, and broccoli. The veggies were delicious, especially the green beans. The spanokopita was just okay in my opinion. The ratio of spinach to feta was off, it definitely needed a lot more feta. But they were cooked well and still tasty. I added a cup of the lemon orzo soup i cannot pronounce and really enjoyed that. Sometimes it can taste a bit corn starchy but here it was very creamy and very filling. I also ordered one of those custard with honey desserts to go and truly enjoyed that. Overall it was a lovely meal and we will continue to come back to Alexis. It can be a bit pricey so we don’t generally come too often, but if you want authentic greek food this is the place to go.

wow, I love this place. Ever since we moved to Porter Ranch we’ve had a real hard time finding a decent place to eat. There are so many chain restaurants, and not even good ones. Then we spoted this little hidden gem when shopping at Pier One. Delicious, fresh, accommodating and best of all, resonably priced. The owners/chefs are always there to welcome us and give us sugestions. I brought my father who is visiting from Brasil because he is very picky with his food. After a wonderful father’s day meal he said this is his go-to place from now on when visiting LA. I specially love their cod fish cakes, the Taramosalata(caviar dip), falafels and hummus. Yum Yum. Can’t wait to go back

I had a great dining experience last night at this restaurant. We sat in one of the tables in front of the restaurant, which is so cute and cozy. We ordered appetizers since we were not that hungry and just had coffee next door. We got the tzatziki dip with pita bread and the grilled eggplant app. Both were great! The owners even came out to meet us! The husband Alex is Greek and the wife Fatima is Portuguese. They were so nice and sweet! They even gave us a sample of their olive dip and eggplant dip! I’ll definitely come back to try their main dishes! They have both Greek and Portuguese food!

This is a great place for mouth watering cuisine. If its your first time coming to this place, you have to start with the combination plate that includes dolmates, spinicola, cheese pastries, and a piece of lamb, with potato’s and rice. The portions are generous as it will accommodate your hunger needs. You can wash down this wonderful delight with an Arnold palmer or water if you choose. Service was great as David made sure our needs were met with friendship and a smile. Parking is in the same mini mall lot.
