We were looking for some delicious sandwiches and this place delivered. Various paninis and cold sandwiches and flexible about customization. Went for the garden sandwich which consisted of cheddar, sprouts, red onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and hummus on nine grain. Added avocado and it was a delicious healthy sandwich. Sandwiches come with a side of chips and pickle. Bread was extremely fluffy and fresh. Sandwiches are slightly on the small side. Employees here are very friendly but the service is very slow so don’t come here if you’re in a rush. Place was so well air conditioned that it was an amazing haven from the hot and humid weather. Pass on the veggie soup. It was way too chunky as in all of the vegetables were in huge chunks and over cooked and kind of gross…

Stopped in for some a beer and a snack. The veggie bites and bruschetta were delicious, although the nachos were a bit on the small size. Overall I really like the food and the vibe.

I really like the Hideaway especially for meetings of any kind. I’ve met girlfriends there for ladies night on Wednesdays when wine is half priced! Or we’ve done small staff retreats in the back seating area. Good café food and drink and incredibly nice and accommodating staff!

Let me ask you a question. When you see«Pretzel Bites» on the menu at a restaurant, what do you think of? If you’re like me, you think soft, warm, baked-on-site pieces of doughy pretzel. If you’re like The HideAway, you don’t think that. You might not have been as confused as I was when I ordered the Pretzel Bites appetizer and received… a plate of hard pieces of pretzels, the kind you buy in tubs at superstores, with a side of honey mustard. This«appetizer» cost $ 5 and was pretty much just like bagged pretzels on a plate. Now, I’ve had lunch at The HideAway many times, met friends there for dinner, stopped in for coffee on cold days. I always liked the food, the space and the employees. But this appetizer… I just don’t get it. Don’t let that stop you from giving them a try, just order a different appetizer and maybe ask them for clarification. I admit, it was my fault for having a preconceived notion as to what I’d be receiving. The sandwiches and desserts here are great, I can attest to that!

My wife and I stopped in for dinner one night. Service was acceptable. The wine selection was narrow, but decent. I expected a lot more selection from a place that calls itself a «wine bar». My wife ordered a glass of mulled wine and a tuna melt sandwich. I ordered a glass of syrah and«the hot chick» chicken panini. My wife says the tuna melt was simply good. There was nothing wrong with it, but it didn’t stand out either. Her mulled wine was good until she got to the bottom of the glass and found a syrup sludge used for the mulling rather than spices. That was disappointing. She and I refused to finish that glass. My syrah was good. My «chicken» panini was awful, though. The bread, vegetables, and cheese were ok relative to the«chicken». The«chicken» was some awful purée of chicken by-product that was reconstituted into the form of a chicken filet, sliced, frozen, and shipped as such. Really awful tasting and disappointing. I strongly recommend against any«chicken» items on their menu.

I keep going back for the enormous slices of coconut cake drizzled with raspberry syrup! Other than the desserts, I’ve found the food here(mostly sandwiches) to be overpriced for what you get. However, my friend ordered a sandwich on a croissant and said it was really delicious. The Hideaway is great for meeting with a small group of friends, but it’s not the best for large groups(six or more)… there just aren’t many tables large enough to accommodate a big group. I think there is only one big table, and if it’s taken, your big group is out of luck!

Had a wonderful soup and sandwich lunch. Hearty rustic bread for the sandwich, very tasty minestrone soup of the day. Charming eating area in the back like an old time parlor. Very friendly staff. Very tempting selection of baked goods and desserts.

Wonderful service. The first time I went here I didn’t realize they don’t accept cards. Oops. Bring cash!

Friendly service and a cherrie hello upon entering the place early evening on a Wednesday. I ordered a BLT+Avacado, a slice of apple pie and an Avery Brewing Co. IPA. The food presentation is very nice, the sandwich was fresh, wonderfully light fluffy multi-grain bread. The sandwich was light and delicious. The looked like what I might get at a sit down dinner for more $, and again fresh and enjoyable. The tables outside were enjoyable on the warm summer eve. I’ll usually stop by Goodbye Blue Monday and they directed me here for a meal(more than just a bagel). I’ll be back to both.

The food here is so good! I’ve lived in the area for years, but hadn’t been to the Hideaway since last year. I was pleasantly surprised. The sandwiches have all very unique tastes, and there is something for everyone. The cakes and coffee are really good too! My main complaint is that there are always college students taking up a four to six person table with their laptops. They usually are not even eating there. If I come with the whole family, we all have to crowd around a small bistro table meant for two people. It’s quite frustrating.

I prefer hideaway than goodbye blue Monday because it has more space and it’s not that crowded. I really like this place. They even have single study room with curtains.

We had a team meeting in the back of the restaurant and had a lovely morning. Fantastic service, warm atmosphere, good coffee, great sandwiches and yummy pastries and fruit. I don’t get down to Northfield very often, but will visit again. Thanks!

One of my former stomping grounds while attending college in Northfield. They have changed a lot, but I still found it to be an enjoyable experience. It used to be a shop, so they have put tables in what were formerly the window displays, giving the room a little bit of height and an interesting seating arrangement. On this particular visit, we ordered the drink of the month, a white chocolate chai something-or-other, and it was good. I like the atmosphere because it’s a little more mature than a lot of places in the ‘Field, and it’s a little more relaxed, a little less trendy. Four stars for coffee and wine(and food) from a delicious hometown place.

We stopped here for the 1st time on Labor Day. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! I had a turkey BLT& my daughter had another sandwich. The dark chocolate layer cake was delish! We ordered at the counter, helped ourselves to water, & waited at the table in the front window area. We had a view of the tables outside — it was a beautiful day but a bit hot so we ate in the AC. The huge restroom was very clean.
