I have been going to the day Spa for years and I love it! All of the staff are professional and very kind and considerate of the clients. I have had manicures, pedicures, facials and massages over the years and all services are top notch. I always feel pampered. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Great spa and great hair salon. Marta gives great massages, Amadeo and Tracy have both given me hair cuts and do great work! It’s a family owned business that is as old as Northbrook itself. Everyone that works there becomes like family. Like cheers everybody knows your name.

Super hip salon! I was so impressed with this this business, not just the sophistication but also the amazing staff. Everyone was so friendly and kind. I got a hair cut with Alene and absolutely loved it! She is so talented and knows exactly what she is doing. The woman can do hair! I couldn’t be happier with my hair and definitely will be back!

My two daughters and myself having been going to Amedeo DeRango for 22+ years. He is always professional, punctual, witty and very knowledgeable about trends and products. In fact he has been a guest artist for KMS california for years. I have been growing my hair out for the last year and you would never know it. Amedeo has cut my hair each time in a way that you don’t see the«growing out» look. I receive compliments all the time on my hair style. My two daughters have very different hair. One has long thin hair and the other has thick, curly hair. He knows exactly how to cut both of their hair. I would never trust anyone but Amedeo to cut their hair. I would highly recommend Amedeo as your hair stylist, he’s the best!

I visited on 9⁄12 for a cut and highlight because I won a $ 200 giftcard at a Wella color event at Old Orchard Mall. Making the appointment was a bit tough, so it took me a good year and a half to get there. To the salon’s credit, they were friendly on the phone, assured me that my giftcard would work despite its age, and even helped me navigate to the salon when I pulled into the strip mall next door after a GPS snafu. But once I got to the salon, everything changed. The décor is odd. Mirrors everywhere, and a lot going on for a Wednesday afternoon. I was introduced to Peggy, my colorist, who was very personable. She led me to her chair and asked me what I wanted today. I showed her a picture of brown with caramel highlights, and told her I wanted a partial highlight and tone. During my consultation, another customer was complaining that she was having an allergic reaction to a keratin treatment and the staff were all rolling their eyes about the«crazy lady» who was asking to have it rinsed off. Peggy asked me if I’d like the stylist who would be doing my cut to look at my hair while it was dry so he could see my hair’s texture. I said yes, and she went to find him. His name was Amedeo, and he never came. Without a word, Peggy just started highlighting my hair. Chaos reigned around us while Peggy had her lunch delivered to her chair. She hurried through my highlights and asked specific questions about how blonde I wanted to go. I told her that my hair lifts/lightens quickly. She ditched me under the dryer and ate her lunch. After the dryer timer went off, I was sent to Fabiola, who did my shampoo. I told her that I needed a tone to take the now very light blonde highlights back to a nice caramel brown. Peggy was nowhere to be seen, and was more interested in what movie the shampoo girls were watching on their iPad. Fabiola washed my hair twice and conditioned it before consulting with Peggy on the toner. The shampoo girl then toned my hair AFTERAPPLYINGCONDITIONER. I’m not sure where one would learn a technique like that. She then proceeded to wash my hair a THIRDTIME and sent me away from the chair, all the while admonishing me for being«late» for my haircut. I did not have my glasses on, so I had no idea where to go to find my stylist, Amedeo. After noticing my confusion, an off-duty shampooer asked me where I needed to go and directed me. Sitting down in Amedeo’s chair, I felt relieved that finally someone was going to listen. He was very personable and friendly, and showered me in compliments. I asked if he could retrieve my purse from Peggy’s station and he was mortified that no one had attended to that for me. He asked me what I wanted in the way of a cut, and I showed him a picture of Blake Lively’s long layers, explaining that my very long hair needed some movement, and I loved her cut. He agreed and started cutting. Before I knew it, he had cut off SIXINCHES from my length in the back. I said it was a little short, and he assured me that«this was still long.» During the cut, Amedeo told me about being a stylist for KMS California and which products would be perfect for my hair. I told him that I curl my hair everyday, and he told me that I’d be leaving with straight hair so he could check the cut. I always thought that as a stylist you can check the cut wet or dry and then style, but I guess I was taking up too much time. Peggy reappeared after the cut and style, and my hair was now blonde and shoulder-length. Absolutely NOTATALL what I came in for. The exact opposite in fact. She dropped me off at the counter so I could pay with my giftcard. No one took the black salon«robe» from me, so I had to leave it at the front desk. I did not feel valued as a customer, nor did I get the cut OR color I came in asking for. I will not be back and I’m a little annoyed that I have $ 36 left on this giftcard.
