Absolutely love this place! The food and the service are always immaculate. If you like chicken wings you must try their Famous Clam Bar Wings. They are out of this world. My family and I always get these as an appetizer, followed by amazing meals. I have tried numerous dishes and have always enjoyed what I got. No seafood compares, it is always fresh and delicious. I highly recommend if you are in the Syracuse area to give this place a try! You will not regret it.

This place is the place to be if you’re looking for fresh seafood in the Syracuse area. Whenever I’ve gone here the staff is always friendly and the menu has an option for everyone’s palette. The prices are reasonable and when you’re there you get the feeling that it’s like a «cheers» where everyone knows your name and has plenty of regulars that have this as their main watering hole. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area!

A Syracuse institution. The Clam Bar always impresses with fresh seafood, excellent service, and the best restaurant ambience in town. I live on the west coast now, but grew up in Syracuse. Every time I go home I try to stop in and have some fried clams or a haddock sandwich. This time I had the haddock casino special and it was absolutely perfect. Go!

My husband and I tried this place for the first time and we were extremely surprised(in a very positive way). The outside had us dwelling whether we should try or not, but we did and we are so glad we did! The atmosphere is very warm when you enter that tiny building that looks and feel like a little wooden cabin. The staff is very nice and funny. We had an amazing dinner and this is also because of them! The food is perfect, on point. If you like seafood and fish, this place offers very fresh and tasty meals! My husband had the seafood Alfredo, which was really delicious: Alfredo sauce was creamy enough but still light and the seafood tasted really fresh. I had one of the daily specials(Cajun snapper) and I have nothing to complain about! Tasty, fresh and delicious! We will definitely be back soon

Stopped in here for a late dinner last night, really hoping for some great seafood but sadly I was not impressed. I started off with their clam chowder since they said it was award winning. Now it wasn’t horrible but I have had much better. My husband did have their garlic mussels and really enjoyed them. That might have been the best dish of the night. I was wanting seafood but nothing fried so I got their panko crusted haddock. The fish was good but there was no flavor at all! Also the house salad that came with it was just iceberg lettuce… really? My husband did like his steak sandwich and the service was great! Not sure if their fried seafood choices would have been better but oh well! Not sure if we will go back.

Ordered take out for the office. Food was okay… medium burger way undercooked and mooing… fish was good however, large order of fries were actually very small. All in all I gave it a 3.

I went here for my father’s birthday dinner with my parents. We were able to pick out our own both by the bar. Waiter was inexperienced, but helpful. Large Antipasto was very fresh and was good. Bread was hot. My clam chowder arrived with my dinner, instead of with the antipasto, but was hot and tasted great. Fried oyster dinner had a dozen good sized oysters in it and they were flavorful and hot. Sides of French fries and steamed vegetable medley tasted great. Scotch double from the bar was of average price. Total tab was reasonable. The Clam Bar is a good place to go if you are looking to eat seafood in the Syracuse area.

So almost exactly the same experience as last time, but the service was better. They insist on bringing one bun for two orders of clams provincial. Look at us! We eat! It was pretty dang good and fun though. We left happy. Ed N: If I order the clams provincial and my dining companion orders the same, we should not be expected to share the same toasted roll. We should each get our own as the menu states it comes with. As it happens, it makes it awkward and bothersome to have to «ask» for what should have come with our meal. Maybe that’s a bit clearer.

My wife and I have been to the clam bar on 3 occasions. Everything was good every time we went. The Seafood Alfredo is our favorite and the New England Clam Chowder is the best I have ever had. The place is very small so if you are claustrophobic… avoid.

This restaurant is PHENOMENAL. I loved the food, I’ve never had scallops like this before, I was just blown away by how tasty everything was. The waiter did mess up on the order but we could have cared less in the end because once the food arrived, we were gobbling everything up and everything else was white noise. The entire staff was extremely kind and courteous. The interior décor fits the name perfectly. This place looks as old as the area. But I will DEFINITELYBE coming back here. The soups were amazing. I cannot stop thinking about how fresh those scallops tasted. Wow. I have never tasted scallops that were so hearty. Can’t wait to come back!

Everything was better than I had imagined. From the atmosphere to the desserts, my entire family felt like we were experiencing something quite unique! Mexican Lime Garlic Wings(breaded): crispy, saucy, meaty. Steamed Clams: 3 people declared them ‘best clams ever’ and the other 2 people did not try them. Side Salads: good size, fresh assorted greens, cucumber, tomato. Bread w/garlic butter: as good as you can imagine, bread was perfect for mopping up dressing(and wing sauce). Fried Haddock w/cole slaw: HUGE! Breaded and fried to a golden crisp. Cole slaw was sweet, ample portion. Snow Crab Legs: 2 lb dinner, cooked perfectly, meat separated cleanly from the shells which cracked without too much effort. Banana’s Foster Cheesecake: Wow! A big hit with all of us, banana flavor throughout, caramel topping, whipped cream… Unique and spectacular dessert. Service: Sharon was excited and happy to serve us! We would highly recommend!

Stopped by here since it was one of the only seafood restaurants in the area. It’s your basic bar/restaurant. Service was incredibly fast and hospitable. I started off with the New England clam chowder(decently flavored). The garlic bread was a little chewy and my lemonade had a hint of oyster taste(not sure if that was intentional). My seafood Alfredo, however was amazing. Well worth the price! I’d definitely recommend this place if you are craving seafood and in the area.

You have not had New England Clam Chowder done right until you try it at The Clam Bar. Seafood dishes are always pleasing to the pallette. Small on seating but not on service or flavor. Every out-of-towner that I have brought there comes back every time they visit. Glad I live nearby!

I decided to come here for lunch after reading rave reviews of the clam chowder. The restaurant has a really nice charm to it. It makes you feel right at home when you step in. I dined here right around noontime, nearly half an hour after they opened and it was nearly full house. Within 10 minutes of arriving, there was already a line forming. I started off with a cup of the chowder. While it’s not the best I’ve had, it was still delicious. It was simple, containing potatoes and LOTS of clam. That’s all a chowder ever needs. If there’s ever anything more than that, the chowder is just pretentious at that point. I had ordered the pasta special of the day, which was gremini pasta with a rose sauce, bay shrimp, scallops and Hungarian peppers. This was absolutely divine! The scallops were so tender and sweet and the peppers(which I believed were pickled) complemented each so well with the pasta. I did get sick of the peppers after eating a couple of pieces, but I’m not a fan of pickled anything anyways. I give the food an A+. My server was excellent. The restaurant got busy so quickly but she still able to check on me several times throughout my meal. These servers kick awesome butt even during a full house. Hats off to the servers. The is absolutely a great place to grab lunch or just chill at the bar after a long hard day of work. I would recommend coming near opening time or during off hours so you can avoid the lines. I’ll definitely be back soon to try other items on the menu! This place is the bomb [dot] com.

AMAZING experience at the Clam Bar. The place was poppin’ at 8pm on Saturday night. This is clearly a happening spot in town. Despite the crowd, we were seated immediately. Our waitress was on her game and brought our drinks out very quickly. We ordered mozz sticks and a cup of clam chowder to start, and for our dinners my husband ordered the chicken fingers with fries and a salad, while I ordered the sauteed clams in the wine/butter sauce. We also got complimentary bread with herb butter. Let me tell you, we were in for a feast! Service throughout the meal was excellent, and the food was even more so. I wish we lived in Syracuse so we could come here on a weekly basis. Wonderful all around.

I can’t say enough about this Syracuse icon. Seafood is incredible. I never order surf and turf but this place does it right. Better than that. Bar staff and servers and even owners remember your face and thank you for your business. Overlook the usual fish fry menus and order the broiled specials, berrimundi, pike and halibut. You won’t be disappointed. Or get a really expertly prepared lobster tail and NY strip with bearnaise. My rare and coveted 5 stars for you.

We had the Crab Stuffed Sole and the Broiled Parmesan Crusted Haddock for dinner and the Coconut Cream Pie for dessert. None of it disappointed. This was a really good meal!

Small local seafood sport with a very friendly staff. I stopped by here for lunch while I was working by the airport. I am not local to Syracuse so I heavily depended on Unilocal to let me know what was good in the area. I was happy to have found the Clam Bar. Not only are the prices very affordable for seafood, the staff was amazing. I had the clam chowder(simply amazing) and the parmesan crusted haddock. The haddock was some of the freshest I have ever had. Definitely recommended for anyone in the area!

Although itwas Fridaynight andvery crowded but The atmosphere was still very good and cosy. Food was good. Fresh clams, and crabs. Tray fried oyster. Everything was good and I’ll go there again but still not a five star in my list.
