My wife and I dine here frequently, but today, a Thursday, was a disaster. The carpet under our booth had food pieces all over it. Those around us did too. The service was TERRIBLE. Our server had a TERRIBLE attitude. Our orders were wrong. It was so miserable and so wrong and so long of a wait without our food, which we never got, we got up and walked out!

Food was amazing! However, the wait after we were seated was incredibly long. When food finally came out, we were missing one entrée and one kids meal. Someone from kitchen came out to see what we were missing. He took our empty coffee pots to get us more coffee and no one returned. No coffee with our meal; we finally cancelled the missing orders because we were finished eating and everyone just shared their food so they could eat. We asked for a manager, who finally came out 20 minutes later. She said she was helping cook and just had too many tickets to come out. She said they had an employee in the hospital diagnosed with cancer. I told her I was very sorry to hear that but as a customer, I don’t really need to have that put on me. Manager had a poor attitude and not professional at all. She did apologize and took care of our ticket. Our waitress was super nice, just so busy she wasn’t able to check on us at all. We made sure to tip her because she shouldn’t be penalized for poor management. I think it’s pretty clear from previous reviews there is a staffing/management issue. I have my doubts the woman who came out was even a manager. I like be the Egg & I food. Disappointed the one near us is not better.

I’m usually not that picky about service, but when it’s this slow, it’s hard to not let it affect your dining experience. This place used to be great but the last two times we’ve been here the service has been painfully slow. It’s as if they just don’t care anymore. Good food but what’s the point when the waitstaff is this inattentive and can’t be bothered to check up on you? Plenty of better breakfast places in Hurst and NRH.

First visit. Enjoyed it. Scrambled eggs to order, crisp bacon. Their choice coffee was served in a carafe – lukewarm and muddy tasting. I should have asked for fresh coffee. Clean, family atmosphere. Great service. You can order breakfast or lunch at any time.

The food was delicious! I do think they are a bit understaffed, or the waiters aren’t trained very well, or both. One time we went, our waiter was excellent, but since then we’ve been served by other waitstaff that were either too busy or not trained. Still, we loved the food!

We got there at 1:44, and walked out the door by 1:47. No one-not even the manager-yes I saw you!- greeted us. McAlisters around the corner greeted us warmly, and we had a nice lunch. Please remember that in this day and age word of mouth is important and your food might be good, but your service is not!

Hubs & I like to come here for the most excellent comfort brunch food. IHOP across the street just pales in comparison. They have reasonable prices, great portions and any combination of breakfast items you could want. Their service has always been subpar the three times we have been so far(refills are slow, order taking is slow), but we will always come back for the food!

Our waiter was attentive, however there were not enough waitstaff in the area. I noticed a few patrons who were seated before us hadn’t received their food. So I was patient, thinking surely ours would arrive soon. It took about half an hour. My Athena omelet was delicious and the potatoes were tasty too. However the coffee in the carafe was lukewarm. My husband’s California omelet didn’t have the avocado in it. Our Aunt’s pancake was super thin, definitely NOT worth the $ 8 they charged us for it. It was ridiculous. Very disappointing, considering that our visit to The The Egg and I in Addison was a great experience. You can get a better meal, faster service and a greater amount of food at The Wild West Café.

Before I went vegan — The Egg and I in Georgia were 4 star friends… As I’m trying this vegan diet on for size… the menu works for breakfast when you’re the minority(vegan eater) … Boy! bacon still smells so good!!! LOL… It’s a consistent breakfast spot. Everyone enjoyed their meals… I got the oatmeal with fruit and had the English Muffin, butter was already on it… I suffered through it(lol)… Please dont call the vegan police… lol… I also had the kale juice drink(delicious).

Thought I would try this place out for a quick lunch. Don’t think I’ll be back. Poor service, cold food. I had to flag down a waiter because mine was too busy chatting. I was greeted with, «What’s up?» Wow! The 2nd round of food was better but total experience was disappointing. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with ranch potatoes and eggs. All of the food obviously sat for a while. The biscuits were rock hard buried in cold gravy. Potatoes were warm. Like I said the 2nd round of food was much better. If the service improves I’ll be back

Delicious! This actually wasn’t our first choice. Husband wanted french toast so we wanted to go to Bacon’s up the street but it was way too busy with a 20 minute wait. We decided to come to this location but we are absolutely glad with the turn of events. No wait and the waitress was very accommodating with our baby. Husband had a Kale Cooler and he said it tasted like apples but it was refreshing. I just had a cup of coffee but my meal was«egg“cellent. I had the corn beef hash and my husband was able to order his French Toast. The corned beef hash was seasoned well and it came with over easy eggs, a piece of toast and hollandaise sauce. So much food! And we wanted more lol. Will definitely be coming back

We got seated quickly– I took my infant baby to get changed in the RR while my husband was seating. I came out 15 mins later — still no waiter came to Greet or take our drink order — I sat down and motion the hostess and told her we needed to be serviced– she leaves in the kitchen and doesn’t say anything to me. A waiter comes out and services a person sitting behind us that came in after Us! No matter how good the food is customer service and professionalism and the way you run business means a lot to me. It wasn’t even busy. There were plenty of tables that were emptied. We got up and left. I am a big tipper but not for this place. We went across the street to IHOPGOTSERVICEANDOURFOODLESSTHAN15 mins after we sat down. CUSTOMERSERVICEISTERRIBLE. Y’all need to work on that or get better EMPLOYEES !!

I took my son here for brunch on his 18th birthday, and we were both amazed at how delicious everything was. We ordered a sweet waffle dish and an omelet dish, and shared it all. It was all we could do to stop when we were full, because everything tasted so good we wanted more! Service was prompt, staff was lovely. A perfect birthday experience!

First visit, hair in wrapped up silverware, eggs are NOT real eggs, or they have a ton of water mixed in. Coffee even isn’t great, actually tastes old and a little burnt. Very overpriced for quality. Almost $ 10 for one waffle, fake eggs and two slices of cheap bacon? Marking this one off the list! Why didn’t we just go to Bacons? I came hungry and could only choke down 1⁄3 of the waffle with the fake maple syrup.

The wife and I stopped by this morning. The food was excellent. She had French toast; I, the works omelette. Everything is nice and simple, no making decisions, save what you want for breakfast. There is not much seating, so it can feel a bit cramped, which is why the 4 star. Also, if you get the chance, order the chocolate chip muffin.

We rarely go out for breakfast. But I ran an ultra marathon the day before and woke up starving. Decided to go to this place as it is pretty close to the house and got pretty decent Unilocal reviews. We arrived at 7 am when they opened. No one was there. I guess normal people usually eat later, but I ran 31 miles. I was hungry. I had the special pecan pumpkin waffle which came with 2 eggs and bacon or sausage. And yes, I ate it all. My husband ordered the cinnamon bun French toast, also a special. Most breakfast places have gross coffee. You know, that stuff that kinda smells like coffee but is dark water? This place offers a dark roast. The dark roast was great! Loved it. The menu is very large. Pretty much if you want it, they have it. Our waitress was amazing — Prompt, sweet. Love her. The food was fantastic! I would certainly go back!!!

The food is delicious and the price is good. I’ve came here a few times. The waitress Shelly is amazing and a very sweet lady as well as the other staff minus the manger. I’ve heard the way he talks to his employees and think he needs to learn to be nicer and communicate a lot better or get a new manager. I would recommend this place though.

I came here Sunday morning with my husband and couple friends. I don’t care that we had a 30 minute wait, because one can expect this at a breakfast establishment. As we waited, I noticed a burned piece of toast on a customers plate. This is toast were talking about here, probably the first thing anyone learns how to «cook» on their own. Plus restaurants have toasters! You preset the cook time, and it’s cooked the same every time. After being seated, I began to notice unconventional menu items like asparagus in breakfast food, and green pork chili gravy. I like gravy and asparagus, but not in my breakfast food. In the in term, my coffee came, and it was delicious. Thank you for that. After pondering on several menu items, I decided on the breakfast burrito with ranch potatoes. I had a choice of the green pork chili gravy or regular salsa. Call me a masichist, but I ordered a side of the gravy out of curiosity and a side of the salsa, to which both were discussing. Restaurant salsas are usually canned, watery, and not hot, and this one for the bill. I live in TX and I like real salsa. My counterparts ordered the Colorado scramble with a side sausage, a pumpkin waffle with bacon, and a regular waffle with ranch pots and bacon. The waitress was sweet, and attentive, and what looked like the manager helped her with the delivery of our food. The waffles looked wonderful. I didn’t try either of the two that were delivered to the table, but my husband had had a Belgian waffle in Belgium and he was impressed. In reading all the reviews for this restaurant, most people that gave a high rating had ordered pancakes or waffles. It seems they are doing something right. My female counterpart said her eggs were«ok». My burrito was boring, and the fixings were lettuce, sour cream, quac, and chopped tomatoes. In reality I had wilted iceberg, half a teaspoon of sour cream, browning quac, and five cubes of tomato. The burrito was your run of the mill grocery store tortilla served cold and soggy on the bottom, it was simply rolled and both ends were open. I tried to re-roll it, but It was pretty watery, which made the burrito soggy. The contents of the burrito included diced canned green something, Luke warm eggs, burned potatoes, and cubed rubbery sausage. Another reviewer said the sausage had a weird flavor. My female counterpart agreed that the sausage was weird. I took a piece of the sausage out of my burrito and looked at it up close. It was perfectly cubed, with very smooth walls were the knife had cut into it. It felt spongy in my hand and I noticed air bubbles in the side walls, suggesting it was highly processed. I thought to myself, «surely a breakfast place is not serving precooked frozen sausage??» When I took a bite, all I could taste was the inside of a funky freezer! It exploded in my mouth like a wet sponge. It reminded me of all the breakfast fast food my parents would buy me as a child, and not in a good way. I don’t like frozen precooked meat, and I have a very good palette for these things. Other reviews pointed out more culinary short cuts. One mentioned her side of fruit was canned, and another mentioned all the sides and sauces seemed canned, or store bought. Someone else said the potatoes seemed precooked and warmed over, but had a good flavor. I worked in a restaurant where they would boil the potatoes in bulk and put them in the fridge. When an order came up, they would toss them on the flat top with grease. They were soggy and never crispy. I suspect their prep is similar. Someone else said the food was meh. I decided to ask the waitress about the sausage. I wanted to make sure the manager knew that a breakfast place should serve fresh breakfast meats. I started by asking her(in a non confrontational tone) why they serve frozen sausage, and it seemed spongy like the kind that has soy mixed into it. I asked if she could just let the manager know that it was weird, and they should consider serving fresh sausage. A few minutes later she came back and the first thing out of her mouth, rather loudly was«the kitchen manager went to culinary school, and they get fresh deliveries every two days. She continued that the sausage doesn’t have soy, it’s not precooked, but it is frozen.» She continued that he showed her the box and it says 100% pork sausage. First of all, this means that the MEAT used is pork product. It doesn’t mean it’s not highly processed with«additives.» Last time I checked, sausage doesn’t contain air bubbles. Besides, my main complaint is that it was NOTFRESH! That constitutes frozen sausages. In addition, if they get deliveries every two days, they could easily get fresh bulk sausage. She continued that the manager knows what he’s doing, and she wouldn’t work in a place where she wasn’t confident in the product. The combative nature of the response tells me they get a lot of complaints. Unprofessional. We won’t be going back

This is hands down the very best place to have a nice breakfast with a hot cup of coffee. The pancakes are huge and loaded with great surprises like apples and granola, blueberries, or raspberries and granola(my favorite). That staff also make this little gem the perfect place to start your day. The waitstaff: Claudia, Chase, Shelly, and Cori, really make the Egg and I a place you look forward to visiting over and over. The manager also rounds the dining room to make sure that all the food and service is just perfect.

My usual preferred breakfast place when I visit Dallas/Grapevine was packed with a rather long wait so I pulled up my trusty Unilocal app and explored. One of the many places close was The Egg & I; Read the reviews and decided to give it a try. A-maz-ing! My wife ordered a waffle and egg and both were perfectly prepared. The waffle was crisp on the outside, not gummy on the inside. I dont drink coffe but she does and she said the coffe was very good. She rated her meal as delicious. Our waiter suggested the Green Chili Chicken Hash, so I ordered it with two eggs over easy. I have tried many«breakfast skillets» at various other restaurants and this was hands down the best I have ever had. Eggs were perfect, the hashed potatoes were crispy on the outside and cooked through, the chicken was not tough and the flavor/spice of the green chili sauce was perfect. I can’t wait to come back and when I do, this is exactly what I will order again. As well as stealing a bite of my wife’s waffle! :) Our waiter, Chase, was outstanding! He was attentive, prompt and friendly. I have added this place as a favorite in both Unilocal and on my Google maps and I will absolutely return! I think it is worth your time to give it a try.

I love this place. My fiancée wasn’t as impressed but maybe it’s the hazelnut coffee that keeps me going back(poor guy doesn’t drink coffee). The food is fresh and made to order, the service is always amazing… and again, the hazelnut coffee is worth the trip! It can get pretty crowded after 9am on weekends but it’s worth the wait. the location allows for plenty of parking and the wait isn’t normally too long. They accommodate everyone and is just a nice breakfast spot.

I came here for the first time today & I honestly couldn’t find a reason to not give this place a 5 star rating. We came in with 8 or so other people and the place was already full. That being said it only took us 10 – 15 minutes to be seated. But it felt like 3 minutes because they have good free coffee to drink while you wait. Such a great idea! I didn’t even care that I was waiting anymore. But then again, coffee and I have a special relationship. No worries, my wife is aware. Next Claudia sat us. To be honest, she played a crucial role in why we rated The EGG& I 5 stars. She was super friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. She wasn’t gone too long but didn’t constantly check on us either. My wife and I both genuinely enjoyed having her as our server and will be asking for her the next time we come back. I had the Santa Fe Huevos which was amazing. Two eggs in beans, sausage, guacamole, sour cream and red or green salsa all on top of a tortilla with a side. I got the fresh fruit with it and all of it was delicious. I loved this plate. My wife got French toast and enjoyed it but also loved their potatoes. You need to check them out. Stay classy.

Food was good, comparable to other restaurants, although slightly overpriced. Our server was great! However, the manager got in the way of his own success with a limited menu for our family get-together and ridiculously correcting us for making special requests. I really like the blueberry pancakes here. You know those places where you order blueberry pancakes and a regular plain pancake comes out with three blueberries sadly tossed in? That doesn’t happen here. The blueberry pancakes live up to their name and come with a lot of blueberries AND a blueberry compote to smother over so you’re halfway to Violet Beauregarde. Oompa loompa towaway is extra. They’re also really nice here, which is always appreciated.

Never knew this place existed! I love breakfast any time of the day. My go to places were Old West Café but it always packed. And IHOP or Waffle House since Bayleys closed down. The place was bright ans clean. Better than Old West décor in my opinion. I came on a weekeday at 9:30 and it was empty. They also have a private room in the back to accommodate any crowd. The service was quick as well. We had the veggie parisen benedict which was a balanced in flavor and not too salty. I also had the Patriot waffle which was good as well. With sweet blueberries and raspberries. I also had a side of blueberry pancake which was huge! Big as the dinner plate just like Old wesr but better! It was soft and not dry. i may try buttermilk next time since I like the tangy taste. I still think Cracker barrel has the best pancake so far since theirs had a chewy bite and crispy edged. But, I still enjoyed it! The bill came out to be $ 22 for three items. Next time I will be back with the kids and try out the kids items. I forgot if they had chocolate chip pancake or not. I wished they had granola or multigrain pancake but I did not see it. But Mid cities café had the oatmeal pancake but it was small. Will be back after I chec out Bacon café and Sunny Street nearby.

We like this place for breakfast. Service is friendly and the menu allows us to order sensibly while we try to watch our diets. There are plenty of other options too, if you are free to throw caution to the wind and order everything that you want. It is sure to be here. My new personal favorite is an egg white veggie and cheese omelet that comes with a very nice fresh fruit cup and an English muffin. The fresh coffee is especially good. I have had their standard serve as well as the hazelnut, which i especially liked. They bring an insulated pitcher of it to the table so that a refill is quickly available. In the past I’ve also enjoyed lunch here and especially liked the chicken salad and half croissant combo. The prices are a tad higher than other similar places, but I think the quality and service make it worthwhile. Will go back!
