Basic items that are on the menu were not available to purchase. While the woman was nice, the young man making the food had the personality of a wet mop. It definitely made me feel like I was interrupting his day and was being chastised by asking him to do the job he is being paid to do. The wieners were basic. Nothing special. The meat sauce is sub-standard. We won’t be back. Bad service, no supplies and food that lacked the basics is a recipe for a disastrous business. No wonder why they’re cash only.

I’ve been going to Sam’s New York System on Mineral Spring for over 15 years now. They have stayed consistently delicious and fresh throughout the years. Truly one of the best hot wieners around… A Rhode Islander’s «must have».

The only regret is not finding this place sooner in life !!! And I’ve lived in RI for 35 years… it’s true what others are saying… i’m kind of a neat freak so take it from me too… this place is CLEAN as a Whistle… AND the best weiners of anywhere in RI and probably NY too. They are almost 2 bucks a piece but well worth it. Once you try these you’ll know that what you’ve had in Woonsocket were garbage. It’s worth the travel even from Coney Island in Worcester. Someone said they’re hard to find… couldn’t be easier… about 1⁄8 mile off Rt 146, mineral spring exit. Can’t wait to try the burgers… they smell so good. Would give this place 10 stars.

Admittedly I only come for the weiners, but they are fantastic and the service is friendly and prompt. One star off because it is cash-only.

Total cluster fu*k. Placed to go for 2 fish and chips. Get thete 10 minutes later and food hasnt been started. Fryolator issue, understandable. What isnt ok is standing there at the counter 10 minutes without being acknowledged, the cooks arguing and yelling at each other the whole time I’m there, and others walking in and being helped before me. NEVERAGAIN!!!

More like a 3.5. My first visit. True charbroiled thin cheeseburger, perfect ratio of beef to bun. Monstrous Cabinet! Extremely clean, very friendly. I did not have it but I saw they make their own tzazicki sauce for the gyros

Typical Rhode Island wiener spot. Greasy, salty, heartburn central. Location is convenient. I swear ask these wiener joints are in cahoots with this Cash only thing. So annoyingly.

Beware cash only… Great wieners… Nice family running the place. They are fun and bicker just like my family. Great coffee milk as well…

My first time visiting. My fiancé and I stopped by to satisfy my urge for some wieners. They were excellent. She got the BLT which was very fresh. The fries were excellent also. The thing that impressed us the most was that the place was very organized and exceptionally clean. We asked how long they have been there and were amazed it has been 20 years. Kudos to the team there for keeping the place so nice; we will definitely be back.

I’ve never left a restaurant so angry before in my life. My bf and I went in here to grab some weiners and instead we sat at the bar for 10 mins without getting a hello, smile, or any type of welcoming at all. We waited and waited other people walked in and placed orders. So After All the other customers were helped even those who walked in After us we put two and two together. They must not like tattooed people I mean it was pretty obvious with the older waitress who doesnt speak great English burning holes of judgement through me, as if I was some sort of criminal when all I wanted was a fucking hotdog… I will never return to this place again…

We’ve tried several side-by-side taste tests(in the name of SCIENCE, of course!) with Sam’s hot wieners and others. The others can’t hold a candle to Sam’s. They’re perfectly balanced, rich, meaty goodness with the right amount of onions, celery salt, mustard and squishy steamed buns(ooh la la!). Not too salty and not even too greasy, if you can believe it! We often get an entire sack of all-the-ways, take them home and nosh on them all weekend long.(They’re even good cold! Who knew!?) I love the staff there– very kind and accommodating and they very obviously take great pride in the food they make and in the spotlessness of their restaurant. The staff/family hustles, but they don’t rush things– those wieners are made with care perfectly, one after the other after the other. It’s a charming throwback– from the counter seats to the giant old menu on the wall, but every surface is clean and in good repair. Their burgers are made to order and are no-frills but juicy and delicious perfection. And then there’s their pea soup. The patriarch of the family gets up early to make the pea soup, homemade old-school style(not sure if they have it every day, but they’ve had it every time we’ve gone). You need to understand that I LOVE pea soup, that I have impossibly high standards for pea soup and that my dad made the best damn pea soup ever. Sam’s is the only thing that even comes close to touching my dad’s. I actually got choked up the first time I tried it, telling the owners’ daughter to tell her dad how good it was and how much it reminded me of my own dad. No lie, every time I’ve gone, I’ve come out of their with 3 – 4 pea soups to go. It’s creamy and rich and smoky and so, so good. I don’t care if it’s 90 degrees out, I’m getting the pea soup. I’m sure their other soups are good too, but I’ll probably never know. Remember that it’s cash only, and definitely come with an empty stomach!(And if you get the pea soup… YOU’REWELCOME!)

Clearly the best hot wieners anyone will ever have the pleasure of consuming. Not only that, but the gyros and other sandwiches are great. The burgers are awesome as well. It’s also very inexpensive. If you want an authentic, amazing Rhode Island diner with some Rhody-only options, you’d be a fool to go anywhere else. The staff are also some of the best I’ve had the pleasure to get to know. Not only have they provided great customer service, but they go out of their way to make sure you’re all set, remember their regulars, and do all of this while incredibly packed for lunch or dinner time.

Coming in at #2 on my «Best Weiniz in RI» list is Sam’s New York System. I went here a few times after school back in HS because it was a few minutes away and boy was I ever impressed! Not only can you order«2 all the way»(a delicious artery cloggin’ weina packed with beef, onions, mustard and celery salt) with a side of the RI delicacy, Coffee Milk, but you get a true native atmosphere in this place as well. I’ve also tried their burgers, which are mouthwateringly delicious. The fries are amazing as well. But what I look forward to just as I do when I eat from Olneyville is the aftermath of these delectable little greasemisters and that would be how rancid they leave your breath. Once you eat one of these weiners, you can say bye-bye to talking to ANYONE for at LEAST a day or two because these babys pack a punch that’ll wilt any eyebrow! Not to mention the gas you’ll be having all night, whoo! Reguardless, Sam’s is awesome. FIVE stars for coming in at #2!
