Universal Lock Key & Safe

Made two sets of keys. The guy runs a small shop and is very polite. There is not much to write about a key copy place. He is nice, price is cheap, and gets the job done very quick.
I made 4 keys for $ 6. That’s cheaper than Home Depot and lowes.

I have been using Universal Lock Key & Safe for about four years. Carl and his brother own the place and every time I have gone in, I have always been met with smile and a how are you.
I go mostly for keys. I keep misplacing them (sounds better than losing) and they make duplicates for me that work. I have a difficult little key that one time didn’t work and I called them and they said bring it back and they would recut it. They back their work.
I am on a fixed income and couldn’t afford a service call. My front door lock was giving me problems and Carl told me how to remove the lock so I could bring it in and he could take a look at it. He also told me how to reinstall it.
Their prices are reasonable. There are some higher price locksmiths in the valley. Maybe they are in a high rent district so they have to charge more. Universal is a mom and pop business and when I can, I like to give my business to the little guy.
Universal also cuts car keys that you have to get the blank from the dealer and will order keys to fire boxes. I know because they did both for me.
They know their business whether it comes to making a key, repairing a lock, etc. Universal is the place I go to.
One more thing, I have read other reviews of other locksmiths and comparing prices to Home Depot and Ace Hardware. You have to compare apples to apples. Home Depot is great for light bulbs, potting soil and paint accessories but I wouldn’t get my keys duplicated there. Carl is a locksmith, licensed and bonded. That’s what you pay for. His knowledge. His experience. Can’t compare that to Home Depot.

Yell loud if nobody is standing at the counter, because the business owner, Carl, is usually watching TV in the back room.
I’ve done business with these people for the last 15 years, and they have always been very professional and extremely polite. There’s no going back for a replacement key because they screwed something up — these guys always make duplicate keys that work right, the first time.
In a neighborhood which is going downhill fast, it’s nice to see a familiar and trustworthy face in a locally owned business.

I wish I could give this business more than 5 stars! I went in to have a duplicate house key made. The gentlemen that were there were very professional. I dealt with joe and he was extremely knowledgeable and even helped me add the key to my key ring since I had just recieved a manicure! Seems like a very family friendly place with lots of pictures on the wall! I will recommend this place to all my friends and family in the noho area! Thanks joe and universal lock!
