This is no longer Tacos El Torro… it’s some new«noho café»… I don’t understand why they had to close the best little Mexican restaurant in the area… I am hoping that someone can find out if they found a new location… so sad.

The owner of this restaurant hires people, and within a week he lays them off without even paying them what they worked for. Please some one make justice with this business. That’s not fair for toes poor persons who worked their week and absolutely get no PAY‼‼

Dear mr jaime nambo it has come to my attention and the attention of a few of my friends and folowers on facebook that your establishement hires and underpays its employees and that you hire temporary one week employees and dont pay them at all. Let me inform you mr Nambo that in the state of California and in the United states for that matter it is ilegal and punishable bu fines to not pay your employees. This is unethical and it is wrong. It is wrong to take advantage of people like that i am embarassed and appaled i am also an entrapenur who also iperates buissness in the Nortg hollywood area and i am also on laurel cyn. I am ashamed to be a neighbour of a buisness who practices unethical practices. I will not be visiting your establishment and i will and have already informed my friends, aquintences and fallowers not to visit your establishment as well. i have also informed these people to write a review on tour Unilocal site, facebook site and to bombard your phones until the department of labor steps in.

Best Nachos I have ever eaten. Order it as they come, with carne asada and everything that normally comes on them. Ask for extra red sauce if they have it in the fridge because it is great! Their chips are made in house. Second to those are the taquitos and any breakfast item on the menu. I’ve had the vegetarian breakfast and it is delicious. Love the potatoes/peppers on that dish.

I had to double check I was writing the review on the right place. I’m not sure how this place could get 5 stars. Did I come on a bad day? I walk in Thursday at 6pm. I have driven by this place many times. How this business has a mural of a pig wetting itself, I’m not sure? The place was empty. It definitely a hole in a wall joint. It’s that place where you’re not quite sure if the food is fresh or if this a front for some drug ring. I can say the food seemed fresh. They have a salsa bar and that’s actually the best part about this place. My comrade ordered the burger and fries. I ordered something safe, beef burrito. If I had no other option for Mexican food, this might be a place I would go. But thank god I live in Los Angeles county and have a wide variety of choices. The beef was dry. The chips that came with my burrito were stale. We spent about $ 14 for water, canned soda, beef burrito, and hamburger. That wasn’t worth it. The service was friendly. The two ladies were nice and took our order. They cooked everything quickly. I’m debating if I should give this place another chance maybe on a busier day.

I love this place! Definitely authentic Mexican food with the whole Jamaica and Horchata! I love ordering the nachos, fajitas or the veggie burrito(even though I’m not vegetarian)

I love this little place. Mexican novellas, great food at a great price, and Mexican coke! Tip: bring cash because it is cash only. There is an atm in the place if you forget.

I always drive by this place. I pass it up because of the odd murals painted outside. If you haven’t seen it, one is christ bleeding on the cross. The other is very cute piggies getting killed and cooked, In the background there is a plate of what appears to be the tips of d! €x$. Ordering was easy. Chicken torta no spicy. Turns out it was spicy. I tossed it. I wasn’t in the mood for a bilingual argument on if it was spicy. The tables were dirty. So dirty that I opted to eat in my car.

I really enjoy their tacos. So much so that I don’t order anything else. It is a little bit annoying that they don’t take cards, but if I’m desperate enough, they do offer and atm. And I totally understand why a company could not take cards. I live 2 blocks down on laurel canyon, so I will definitely frequent this place!

Had I seen the review of Unilocaler«John B» before coming here I probably wouldn’t have stopped in, but I’m glad I did now I can check this off my list of «Do Not Return» I’m sorry I just don’t see how some of these reviews can give them 4&5 Stars? Tacos — Carne Asada — NO marinated meat here, needed more time on the grill and lacked in flavor. 2-Stars Al Pastor — Had a regular pork flavor OK, but it’s supposed to be Pastor it should have a heavy adobo flavor #Fail — 1-Star Carnitas — Really the only thing worth eating, had pretty good flavor and was moist. 3.5-Stars Another one bites the dust!

Stopped by for a quick breakfast while waiting for my car to be smogged. ordered the chilaquiles with an «whore-chata».the chilaquiles come with egg, which is great, thats the way i grew up eating em. most taco joints charge extra for egg. the red sauce is tangy, similiar to an enchilada sauce, it has spice but isnt overwhelming spice(hot).along with rice and beans and a small side of guac and crema over lettuce. tasty…

UPDATE: Looks like people are now working on building, and there’s a sign out front that says it’s under new ownership. They are not back to serving food yet. 11÷7÷15 * * * * * * * There has been a «We’re closed today» sign on the door for almost a month now. We are losing hope(and weight) that our beloved taco-hole is closed for the duration. If you know differently, please respond to this, otherwise I will make further edits when we know more about what’s happening. 10/26/2015 ********************************* Be still my heart. This is our favorite taco place in all of LA. The cabeza is second-to-none(cheek meat, btw, not brain), the carnitas are always perfect. Great salsa(the ultra-mild green is my fav — but their spicy red and pico with fresh jalapeño bits are tops as well). Two male cooks make the best food. Sometimes it’s not as good when one of the two lady cooks are on, but it’s never poor, just«less awesome». Anyone who gives this place a low rating based on ambience and not taking debit cards is a fool. Yeah, it looks old and run down inside. Yeah, it’s cash-only. But it’s always super clean, and they have an ATM right next to cash register, so seriously, let them continue to concentrate on making damned good cheap food while you wait quietly and appreciate what you’re shoving into your face. Happy, friendly cashier and cook. Our most favorite neighborhood place, and every other good taco we try is «Pretty good, but not as good as el toro.» I wish I could give this place all the stars.

I have stopped by this little hole in the wall Mexican joint a few times over that last year or two. I have usually stuck with their regular carne asada taco which is pretty good for $ 1.15 a piece. I’m now on this al pastor kick and I’ve been trying it in tacos and in tortas. It is amazing different some of this places can be in preparing their al pastor. In a perfect world al pastor should be prepared on a split. Some restaurants have them, some do not. Unfortunately, Tacos El Toro does not and their as pastor was a disappointment. The meat was dry and tough. It tasted like it had been sitting under the heat for a little too long and was chopped, not sliced. It also didn’t have much flavor. It was also pricey at $ 5.00 a pop. Their menu is basically just pictures and they don’t have an a la carte me nut, so there is no prices for individual items. Also bring cash unless you want to pay ATM fees. So, if you come here, my advice is to stick with the tacos.
