I had a frozen pipe and called my home insurance agency to file a claim. The water leaked on a floor and I was in need of water removal. I called my insurance company and they got in contact with servpro of new haven. Andrew(manager) came in to meet with me and assured me that work will be performed within few days. The total should be not more then $ 2000. when I was at work, my daughter let them in to dry the floor and remove the damaged one. They brought 3 drying machine equipment and plugged them into the wall. The same day, my electricity went off. with so much of the equipment being plugged in, the circuit breaker were ruined I had to call electrician and on the emergency bases pay him $ 200 to fix it. I also left message on Andrew voice machine, but got no response back. The equipment was plugged in for 5 days and I had to turn it down, as nobody responded the phone for how long it needs to be plugged in. I also noticed that my dryer was scratched during the time Servpro moved the furniture. I called servpro and called my insurance company. I left messages on Servpro machine, but was not able to get through. Granted, it was right after New Year time, so giving a benefits of the doubt they were still off. I had to call again on the second week of January to speak with Andrew, but this guy never answered his phone. His secretary Kathy did. She also asked me to send her pictures of the damaged furniture. I did and she said that Andrew is going to call me. Finally, I heard back from this guy. He was rude on a phone, and taking a defense position right away told me straight forward that it is not his company fault, and how come I have not reported this right away. I told him that I did, I called my insurance company and I tried to get a hold of Servpro, but was unable to. He requested information of my insurance agent and rudely hang up on me. When my mom’s basement flooded, one of the fireman who pumped the water out of her house suggested Servpro. I have a feeling he must’ve known them… They told my mom it would be $ 250 for the 1st hr, the $ 150 for ea additional hr for work done. Absolutely NOMENTION(verbally or in writing) of a Charge for an Estimate. They dispatched a man to look at her basement…10 minutes of looking around and he told her it would be at least $ 2000 – 3000 to fix. Hello– senior on a fixed income… She told him that… Then he ran and charged her credit card $ 250+tax for the ESTIMATE… $ 250 for a 10 minute walk-thru? Seriously? Is this how they stay in business? Defrauding Senior Citizens? I hope they get investigated for taking advantage of seniors. Servpro was called and said that they would reverse the charge. Nope … they didnt. Talking to BBB was useless…(no surprise there… but at least now a complaint is on file) . Thankfully her CC company investigated and negated the charge. I wouldnt send someone I dislike to these people until I see proof that they have changed their business practices. Until then. Not. Ever. If possible I would have given a ½ star, not a full one.
