Where to start… We stayed here Valentines Day weekend for a weekend of skiing and came back last weekend because we loved it so much. Admittedly, the pictures we first saw online made us a bit wary of being victims of some ax murderer(we watch ALOT of movies), but we were stoked about the location to the mountain. Upon arrival we were greeted with more warmth than I can remember at any hotel. The hotel has recently been renovated and is absolutely beautiful inside. Extra comfy beds with big, soft, down comforters, big flat screen TVs, an etch-a-sketch to keep the kiddies busy, premium shampoo/conditioner/body wash and, the most important amenity of all, a complimentary bag of Swedish Fish. The Yurts(tents) are somewhat amazing as well. They are heated with a wood stove and filled with comfy leather chairs to relax in and maybe play a game of chess. Or bring some of your own music and chat with your fellow skiers. You will most definitely see the owners here as well, they are clearly invested in making everyone’s stay the best it can be. I was asking about the mountain and he offered to give me a tour of the mountain. I gladly accepted the invitation and found myself in a group of 4 traversing all over the mountain. He even gave me a few tips that have since greatly improved my skiing ability. No need to look around, this is YOUR place.

The Lodge rocks. I recently went up with a college buddy for my second time this past weekend and had a blast. Only a year old, the Lodge continues to impress me. The rooms were as great as I had remembered them — from the clean, comfortable bedroom to the immaculate bathroom to the Swedish fish on the bedside table. No detail was spared. The owners did a wonderful job with the renovation, making the Lodge a cozy yet stylish and chic place to come back to after a day of skiing. The highlights — and biggest changes from last time — were the yurts. Two of them.(And more coming). A small intimate one, and another larger one for bigger gatherings. What better way to après ski than to drink beers with like-minded fellow travelers, while sitting in leather arm chairs and ottomans that encircle a wood-burning stove in a giant tent/teepee?! With music. Awesome. I had been to some European yurts before, but this was my first here in the US. And a great place to meet people from exotic lands like Egypt, the Czech Republic, Syria and even Westchester NY. The best part was that the owners hung out with us and discussed their plans for a German-style restaurant. Not like I need additional reasons to return, but this certainly wouldn’t hurt! I look forward to returning again and again — the next time will be this summer for some hiking and whitewater rafting.
