My first visit to this little gem! Surprised to find an Indian Restaurant in North Conway, New Hampshire. I had the Lamb curry(medium spice). My son had the Chicken Curry with garlic naan bread. It was delicious! The lamb melted in my mouth!!! We went for lunch which was very affordable. I will return.

This place is disgusting!!! I would not even give one star if I had that option!!! We stopped in there for dinner because we thought it was indian food. The chicken was cut in cubes just like frozen processed meat! It appears that they use jars and cans of foods not authentic food at all!!! If you have been to other indian restaurants you will notice the difference!

AMAZING Indian food! And so unexpected in New Hampshire. We always get the chicken tikka masala and beef saag. So much flavor and the beef melts in your mouth. The tikka masala sauce(we got medium level hotness) is the perfect blend of spicy and a little sweet. The staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is quaint but not stuffy. Such a great experience!

We have been coming to Shalimar for years. We love the warm hospitality of the family that owns it and the hot and fresh food don’t hurt either! The pakoras and chicken tiki are on point.

On a visit to the area we decided to get takeout from Shalimar. My wife and I love Indian food and have tried many different restaurants so we know good Indian food. What we got at Shalimar was only mediocre. The Chicken Korma was tender but lacking in flavor with a sauce that was far from creamy and savory as it should. The rice was watery without the flavor and aroma Indian rice can have. Coconut Naan is our favorite but Shalimar ’ version was stale and bland. We enjoyed Chana saag but it too seemed lacking. Overall it was a disappointing meal.

If there were an option for 10 stars, we’d have rated a 10. We decided to give this place a try regardless of the less than desirable ratings previously scored by others. The food had a significantly fresh taste which too many restaurants are lacking now. Portions were excellent. None of us left hungry. Lots of variety on the menu and the staff is helpful with determining level of heat. Service was quick, staff were friendly. A very homey atmosphere with plenty of room for comfortable dining. It was a perfect stop to celebrate our boys’ 10th Birthday. Reading all of the notes left by tourists was fun and reassuring that we did indeed, choose wisely.

I don’t typically write reviews but I needed to write one for this restaurant because this was awful. Here’s the list: –they didn’t offer enough silverware and plates for all of us –chicken tikka masala — small portion, super spicy and we can tolerate heat pretty well, NOTCHICKENTIKKAMASALA, it was just tomato paste, chillipowder and boiled chicken. –naan — seriously I can’t believe this pass this off as naan — it was a paratha — so just say it’s a paratha — that’s just plain insulting, not to mention they were totally defrosted store brought parathas. –lamb vindaloo — not spicy! seriously the chicken was spicy but not the vindaloo — weird –one small dish of rice for 6 people — really? The best part as we were sitting a group of customers were leaving and said«I hope you like bugs in your food.»

Everytime I visit the White Mts, I try to go and eat at the Shalimar which has become our go to place in the WH mountains area. The owners go out of their way to take care of you regardless of how busy the place gets and does it get busy esp in the fall and summer! Love the food here-the biryanis, the punjabi entrees are extremely good and after a day of hiking the Kingfisher just tastes like heaven!

One of the worst Channa Masala I had in my life time. Those who are going to order any gravy in this restaurant better to buy tomato sauce. The reason being both gravy and tomato sauce looks like same taste. They are mostly using ready made gravy and not cooking. We really disappointed after order channa Masala and Chicken gravy. Except presence of channa peas and chicken nothing in it. Disappointed…

Anyone who says that this restaurant is anything less than delicious obviously has little or no knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine. Shalimar of India is simply delicious! Give it a try if you want authentic Indian food cooked to your desired spice intensity. The service is great, and the food is fabulous! I’ve travelled all over India, and can confirm that this restaurant, which is owned and operated by an Indian family, will not leave you disappointed. Christian M. Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada

This was my first time EVER having Indian food and I loved it. I had the chicken tikka masala with jasmine rice. I can’t compare it to other Indian restaurants, since this was my first, but it was great! I will definitely be back next time I am in town

We went to shalimar twice while visiting Mount Washington last weekend. Great food. The masala chai is great! Paneer pakodas… Samosas… Malai kofta were all tasty. I’m giving 4 stars because they can improve on their prices.

Let me start with this. Only good one. Service and attentiveness is the only PRO here. Now food. Its just pathetic for Indian restaurant. 1) Lamb Biryani. Lot of meat is a plus but very bland rice taste. I don’t even think they used biryani powder. Its tasted like fried rice and then seared meat. Very bad for $ 17. 2) Chicken Vindaloo(Spicy)… Too much tomato paste with chalky red chili powder after taste. Tasted like more of a tomato soup meets tobasco for $ 14. 3) Onion Kulcha… Who wants a leftover pancake mix pan fried without any hint of onion. NOTME! .,. I don’t know other helpers what they are thinking when they critique this place as 5 stars… But being the only restaurant in the mountains… Anything can be called as Indian restaurant. This place is bad.

During fall you are going to see a long waiting. Butter naan’s didn’t taste or look anything like a butter naan. Food tasted sweeter even after asking for spicy. It lacks authentic Indian taste. There wasn’t anything that o can think of writing good about except it’s one of very few places to have Indian food in the area.

We stopped at this place while driving through white mountain hwy. The staff was very courteous and attentive. The food was a big disappointment, especially after all the positive reviews here. We ordered chicken biryani, chicken curry and malai kofta. Chicken Biryani was the biggest disappointment. In strict terms, it does not even qualify as Biryani. It was simply white rice mixed with curry powder with all ingredients that go in Biryani missing. Chicken curry was another disappointment as it also lacked the flavor and essential ingredients. On the positive side, the service was quick and pleasant. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you want yo absolutely have indian food in the mountains.

I have eaten at many Indian Food restaurants, Indian Food Restaurants in every major US city. Sadly, there are none that compare to Shalimar. This is my standard. Shalimar is a small family run business. The food is FRESH, and it is all made there. They make their own Paneer(cheese), they make their own samosas, and the dough for them. If it can be made from scratch– they do it. Their menu is Northern Indian cuisine. The Vegetarian options are AMAZING. Have a special diet? Diabetic? Vegan? They will accommodate you! My favorites are anything in the Masala sauce– Chicken Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta, Paneer Masala. the Do-Piayza– Peppers and Onions in a fire roasted tomato sauce– is the stuff dreams are made of. Their Masala Tea(Chai) is the BEST I have ever had, Mango Lassi– you won’t find a nicer thick Lassi anywhere! This restaurant is CLEAN, the service is OUTSTANDING, and we absolutely love it here!
