Went here recently because they have the dinner special with a whole chicken and a side of rice and beans(although you can choose other sides such as salad). Going into the restaurant/bakery/deli, on the left is the bakery and on the right is the deli. Inside was not too bad to stay and eat just more of a cafeteria style. The workers were friendly and food took about a 7 – 9 minute wait. The chicken we had was moist and tender and the meat would fall off its bones. They had this green sauce which was spicy, garlicky, and oniony. Yellow rice and black beans were not too bad either. Serving wise it is more than enough for two people, and it split well could maybe serve a third person. In total, it came out to 12 $ and I think it was worth it. Would come back here again in the future.

Came here for Saturday lunch… and walked away 30min later with full and happy stomachs. There’s a pretty big parking lot in the back, but it was packed because Gaby’s is quite popular at lunch time. The inside of the building is surprisingly spacious, with plenty of tables go eat. It’s also very neat and organized: bakery counter on the left, meal food on the right, drinks in fridges at the far wall. We ordered 2 burritos(spicy pork and veg @$ 5.25 each), 1 taco(cabeza @$ 2.25), 1 order of guac and chips(@$ 5.50), 1 drink(jugo verse @$ 3ish). The ordering was hectic because of crowds at the counter, and food prep took a while because of the amount of people. Our burritos arrived first. Very good and refreshing. First, they’re pretty big and stuffed with ingredients so I was full just from the burrito. Second, it tastes… healthy. No extra sodium additives, just a ton of natural veggies wrapped in a thin tortilla for my veg taco. My friend liked his spicy pork a lot too. My friend also liked his cabeza soft shell taco… a lot. He said the meat was extremely delicious and the taco shell tasted homemade(maybe it is?). I wasn’t a huge fan of the jugo verde. It has a ton of ingredients but I felt like it tasted like OJ + grass? Perhaps I’m just not used to the mix of ingredients they use. Loved my chips and guac though. They’re definitely made fresh! The chips even smell delicious, and are very very crispy even after sitting out for the whole afternoon in my kitchen. The guac tastes so homey – perfectly smooth and tasty. It’s not as rich as I expected, but overall still great. We didn’t get to try the bakery items but we’ll try some in our many next times. I recommend this place for authentic, freshly made Mexican food at a very low price point!

Wow, that was probably the best burrito I’ve ever had. No, I take that back… it was the best. The fresh fruit juice was the proverbial icing on the cake. I will be a repeat offender at this joint.

As a first go’round at this rodeo I ordered two of each of the following tacos, carnitas and carne asada. The pork thankfully was lean. Ive had tacos in New Brunswick and was the opposite. I know its pork but I’m trying to avoid clogging my arteries at the moment. I gave my sis the steak ones and she said it was good. Something about steak that’s left there sitting for a while and then turns dark turned me off. It had that reheated look. Next time I’ll be sure to visit a peak times to make sure I get the meal as fresh as possible.

I had driven by this place a few times but never gave it a try since the outside doesn’t look particularly appealing or short from drab. I finally tried it recently and was pleased to see how the inside was lively, spacious, and colorful. I had the vegetarian burrito with grilled vegetables and some pastries, which were very good! Ordering and paying was a bit confusing and chaotic, though, since there was no systemic process.

This place is just amazing. I just wish it was closer to my work place, then I would not need to go to Chipotle.

They have pastries and food! I had this really cool Mexican sundae there and it was so tasty! They also have yummy rice pudding and other authentic Latino foods and sweets! Would definitely recommend ! I choose this location over the one on Joyce Kilmer avenue

Decided to give Gaby’s a try based on its Unilocal reviews. We ordered(2) burritos(rotisserie chicken & spicy pork) along with an order of guacamole and chips. Grab yourself a drink and take a seat while your food is prepared. It seemed to take awhile but I had to remind myself I was not at Chipotle. One complaint was our guacamole was not even prepared until after we picked up our burritos. We actually finished them before it was ready. I will say it was quite good and a large portion with fresh hot tortilla chips. The spicy pork burrito was really tasty. Good meat to bean/rice ratio with a pleasant amount of heat. The rotisserie chicken burrito however had a surprise bone(about 2″ long) and piece of cartilage which was unfortunate as it had potential. We also noticed the person making the burritos was not wearing gloves like all of the other employees. They are inexpensive as lunch for two(burritos, guacamole & drinks) came to all of $ 18. Gaby’s would have rated a 4 if it wasn’t for the rotisserie chicken burrito.

Delicious, fresh, and very inexpensive. Everything is made to order, especially the hefty guac side(about $ 5 for more than enough to share). $ 5 also gets you a hefty burrito filled with goodness. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Gaby’s is a frequent lunch spot for my work friends and I. We have been patrons there for about 5 years. The prices can’t be beat. My favorite is the flautas with salsa verde but the tortas are amazing. I have salads sometimes and tamales as well. The burritos are less than $ 5 and always mouth watering. I was always a big fan of Mexican food but Gaby’s has turned me away from the terrible chain restaurants and solely to family owned places. I hope I can continue to enjoy Gaby’s for a long time.

Move over Chipotle, the 4.95 Burritos here come WITH avocado(and other toppings)! We also asked for sour cream and hot sauce on the side and they were provided free of charge. Very casual and spacious environment with plenty of tables to sit at. Order first then sit — you can order hot meals at the counter on the right side or bakery items at the counter on the left. Drinks are in the back section.

Can an under $ 5 burrito really be great? Branching out from their original location in downtown New Brunswick, this second location is more expansive, featuring a wide selection of cakes, pastries, drinks, and Mexican fare. Don’t be fooled by the prices, which may lower expectations due to their relative inexpensiveness. For under $ 5, you can buy a spicy burrito, freshly made and packed with flavor and goodness. The stewed tacos are amazing! Of all the taquerias and restaurants serving authentic fare in New Brunswick(and, I’ve tried them all!), Gaby’s is near the top of the heap. This location brings all of the taste of the downtown location, in a more convenient location. Bring an appetite!

Another great find in my town thanks to Unilocal — you can get some Fresh delicious Mexican food at very reasonable prices OR very authentic Mexican bakery items at Gaby’s Bakery & Deli. At this place, you will have to order at the counter and then pick up your food and even pick up your drinks from the fridge — you pay at the end when you are ready to walk out. The place is huge and they have plenty of table & chairs. They have the best chicken tamale and burritos around – and ask for some additional spicy red sauce and green sauce on the side, it will make any food that you ordered even better. Food is always fresh & something as simple rice is pretty good here so you should get rice & beans on the side with whatever you order. The prices are so reasonable that I am not sure how they make money – two people can eat dinner for less than 20 bucks. The folks who work here are very friendly & helpful so service is great. I am sure I will be a regular/duke at this place in no time so I highly recommend this place.

Posted the menu for those searching what this place offers. I went to their Livingston branch and tried their Jugo Verde and it did not disappoint. Will try their tacos next time. Alot of selections.

I’m from California. This is the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to on the East Coast. The most popular items are the«Pollo Campero» and the burritos. I’ve also had the fruit milkshakes. Everything I’ve had so far have been delicious. This is located across the street from New Brunswick Middle School. There is a parking lot in the back with free parking. Excellent value.
