Excellent meal. House made bread, fantastic hummus and the Banjan was in-cred-able. I had lamb gyro platter, there was a chicken tikka kabob at the table. Thicker lamb cuts with excellent spicing. Bryani rice was perfect balanced with just the right amount of sweet and savory. The chicken was cooked perfect, moist and soft and flavorful

Food was amazing. I recommend this place to everyone. Mix platter was really good. Place is nice from inside and had a decent number of tables.

First time trying this type of food and I was more than happy. I ordered take out over the phone and it was done in 10 minutes. I ordered the lamb gyro platter and naan. When I got there to pick up, the employees were extremely polite and friendly. The lamb was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Not fatty at all, very tender. It came with a ton of very flavorful rice with peppers and onions, a small salad and a side of white and green sauce. The naan was soft and slightly crispy on the outside. $ 10 for everything which was very reasonable. The only thing I would change was I wanted a bit more meat. The portion of meat was reasonable but it was just so good I would have preferred more meat than rice. Next time I’ll just ask for extra meat even if I have to pay extra because it was that good.

Decided to give this place another try after first coming here shortly after it opened. It’s been a while and am I glad we did. Definite improvement with the food and the service was great! I had a gyro and my husband had a platter. We I also ordered a side of gross which were amazingly good! It was very quiet inside and clean, although our seat was ripped, it wasn’t a big issue. Will definitely return to try the other items on the menu.

My Afghan food craving made me visit Afghan Kabob and Grill again. The Kabobs, Lamb chops and Chapli Kababs were made to perfection along with rice. The hummus with freshly made bread was off the hook. In dessert, tried their Cheese cake and it was good too. All in all, it was a good experience and looking forward to my next visit soon!

This was my first time trying this restaurant. I ordered a somewhat large takeout order. My friends and I agree the food was good overall. However, if ordering takeout, make sure to double check your order. I ordered about eight different items and didn’t realize the baklava was missing until I got home which wasn’t worth the 25 minute ride back. Because of this, I gave 3 stars instead of 4.

Was here this past Sunday for a rare dinner service. Had my parents along too, but their palettes are not too adventurous so they both had the fried 3-piece fried whiting. Food was tasty as normal, but I noticed(actually during several past visits too) that the portions are getting a bit smaller? I had the Lamb Tikka Kebab(after originally ordering the Bolanee Kadu, but told they did not have any that night) and while still delicious, the portions were smaller than I remembered for both the lamb and Afghan rice. Hopefully it’s just an aberration, as one of Afghan Kebob & Grill’s best traits is the generous portions.

Inside looked legit. Poster of Afghan riders on horseback playing buzkashi(not a fan because I think it is cruel to sacrifice a goat only to drag its headless carcass around and call it a sport). Pamphlets describing Islam. Even a section in the back with some prayer maps. Food not so much. I’m not Middle Eastern but I have eaten my fair share of schwarma wraps and I don’t think the tasteless chickn they put inside a whole wheat flour tortilla counts. Come on at least use some sort of a lavash wrap but whole wheat flour tortilla like the ones you get the American grocery store? Pass. Won’t be back next time I am in town.

Our family favorite. We get the combo mix platter with the dark rice. The carrots are so good with the gyro and chicken mix. They have a unique minty white sauce that we can’t get enough of. They’re always quick with our order and the taste is consistently good. We eat ther at least a couple of times a month.

Went there a couple of times. It was already desperation move as my wife doesn’t cook. Frozen wholesale burger patties. Too much salt. When that happened 3 times I stopped going, period. This was 3 years ago. If the owners have changed since then… Then you might want to try.

The food was amazing. It contained a flavorful mix of spices. We ordered the Samosa appetizer, Beef Chapli Kabob, and Chicken Gyro Platter, and Baklava for dessert. Everything was delicious. The prices are extremely reasonable and the portion sizes were large. The interior and atmosphere of the restaurant is average, but the quality and taste of the food far outweighs the ambiance. There are not many Afghan restaurants in the area, but hands down this is one of the best ones I’ve been too. I definitely plan on going back either for a sit down meal or take out.

It’s been a while — at least a year since we’ve visited Afghan Kabob. That’s what happens when you have a baby! My original review still stands but with some changes! The menu has been updated, so there are some interesting new menu items to try. There’s a vegetarian section with a pumpkin dish! The same friendly service that will make you feel at home. The food is still really great and manages to stand out as unique even in Central NJ where you can’t walk around New Brunswick without tripping over a «middle eastern» restaurant.

Let’s split up this review into the good, the bad and the I-can’t-believe-this. The good: Walking in, we were all impressed with the décor and the expansive venue. The food, overall, was good. I would draw your attention especially to the soft, fluffy, hot naan and the crispy bread that accompanies the hummus. The beef shish kabob was my favorite that night. I personally found their sweet and mango lassi a little too sweet and the Afghan lassi too salty, but my companions were big fans. The bad: The service was severely lacking. We never received our pitcher of water until almost an hour into our meal. Even one of our entrees seemed to have gotten lost in the very short distance from the kitchen to our table. We ended up getting things such as forks, take-home containers and water bottles ourselves. The lamb gyro meat in the gyro platter was the only food item that was disappointing as it tasted highly processed. The I-Can’t-Believe-This: The tables in the back that jut out from the wall were either slanted or were placed in such a manner as to leave a mere 1 foot of space between the table edge and the back of the seat.

Whoa! I do NOT understand the high rating for this place. I found the food to be bland and flavorless. I had the chicken kabob with rice and salad. Meh. I didn’t each much of it and threw the rest away… Staff was a nice as can be, but the food was more than disappointing.

I heard great word of mouth about Afghan Kabob, and was also impressed with the favorable Unilocal reviews, so I suggested it to my friend for our dinner. We were not disappointed. The space is huge, and retains much of the same décor as when it opened as a hamburger joint years ago and through that restaurant’s replacements. Except that now there is a handprinted sign offering customers copies of the Quran.(We didn’t avail ourselves of that generosity). I thought it was the kind of place where you order at the counter and the food is brought to you; maybe it works that way when it’s busy, but we were just about the only people there, and a woman came to take our order. We weren’t ready, so a man came over later. Everyone was very friendly and patient. We shared one large veggie samosa for a little bit of an appetizer. It was well-stuffed with the usual mashed and peas, but also had small chunks of potatoes, giving it a little extra oomph. Well spiced, flaky, and not greasy. Good coriander sauce and a thin but tasty raita were great for dipping the samosa and the lamb that followed. We shared a lamb kabob, which was excellent, with lamb that was tender despite being a little more cooked then I would normally like. We also shared a very interesting curry: A thick, mild gravy over two ground chicken patties, each wrapped around half of the biggest hard boiled egg I’ve ever seen. Each of the entrées was accompanied by a small bowl of fresh salad, Afghan naan, and Afghan rice that had raisins and carrot slivers. The food was absolutely delicious, the prices are reasonable, they’re open until 10PM, and the service was very good. I know I’m going to be a regular, at least when I’m in New Jersey!

The location is quite convenient touching route 130 south. It is adjacent a small mall. I see it quite neat and clean with good decoration. There are two seating sections here at the entrance and if you go little farther there is another seating area. The exclusive thing I have seen is they have A SPECIALSPACEFORNAMAJINSIDE the restaurant I have seen Muslims comes here and give reverence to their God. They have set up carpets and cushions on every side in that worship place. This is I have seen for the first time. Mediterranean Chicken kabab with rice was really tasty with green special sauce which was not spicy and I like that. They did not have salmon in stock otherwise food is delicious. Service and prices was good. Overall good experience.

Been here many times when visiting family. Cant go wrong with anything really. Try the lamb Gyro platter-or if you want mon processed meat, then the lamb chops are excellent and delicious! Service is great — everyone super friendly. Lots of seats(and parking).

Really enjoyed the Seekh and Mediterranean Kebob appetizers. Nicely flavored and fresh! Both came with naan, Afghani pulao, salad and some tangy green chutney. That could have been dinner for two, but since we were trying out the place, ofcourse we went overboard! The Chicken Gyro(also served with salad, pulao and naan) was nice too and so was the Chicken Rashida(a rich, cashew based creamy sauce). We also tried an interesting new savory dish called«Bolani Kachalu» — a thin naan stuffed with spiced, mashed potatoes, folded in half and then deep fried. Kind of tasted like an Indian Samosa, though it looked nothing like it! Sure, I’ll have that again — especially with Indian milk tea! All that food for under $ 42, super quick(ready in 15 mins), pleasant service(did take-out but I did look around while picking up the order) though diners need to pay at the counter, and well maintained(ie clean, but basic seating). Thought Kababery would turn out better, but I have to say they’re equally good!

This place is a gem! For the prices, it serves really good food . To start off– the place is clean and big, lots of space . Many options to select from and very reasonably priced. Though they serve wings as well as Hoagies and Sandwiches, we decided to stick to the authentic food which were the kabobs. Excellent juicy succulent kebobs on the Mediterranean meal. The quantities are generous too. The vegetarian samosa was soo good. it was prepared right then, steaming hot and really yummy ! The only problem was with the curry– it was not hot as hot should be and seemed to be prepared from before and hence lacked a little on the taste. Yet, the overall experience was a big thumbs up. Must try !
