This is my first food review on Unilocal but I just have to talk about this restaurant. The food for starters is really good. I’ve had several dishes and always been satisfied. The pork sandwich is on point! I always order takeout because I live around the corner and unfortunately they don’t offer delivery. I ate their one time and never again! It has poor ventilation so the food smell is going to stay on your clothes and hair. The service is awful. The waitress has an attitude. I already know all of them by face because there’s only like 2 girls and 1 guy. But 1 of the girls is rude and sometimes chooses to close the kitchen early at night. Called one time at 10pm and told me she decided to close the kitchen early because it was slow. Anyway, that one time I was there to eat it was my little brother and I and another party. They directed all their attention to them and forgot our order. Like how do you forgot someone’s order when it’s not that busy. They are more concerned about what song to play next since the bartender is on YouTube all day long. Don’t get me started on the décor. It’s black and an old looking gold color. It’s terrible. When I walk in there is looks like a funeral home. They did a poor job with that. It’s 2015 not 1995. It’s Cuban food for God’s sake. The food will sell itself, but you have to at least make people wanna go. It is ALWAYSEMPTY! There’s never a manager there so you have no one to complain to. I will only continue to do takeout and honestly it’s because there’s not much else around this area.

Ordered a Cuban Sandwich and Croquette sandwich and it was smothered with an orange sauce. Too bad I expected more from this place. If they can’t get basic sandwiches right I will not go back to try anything else. Good Luck!

I highly recommend Ochun Restaurant, food was fantastic, authentic Cuban food. Our server David was a joy, attentive and friendly. My husband loved the black beans, and I loved garlic shrimp.

Once again, fellow Unilocalers steered us to a winner! We’re always in the mood for comida Latina, and the proximity to our hotel plus positive ratings and reviews made for a no-brainer decision. It was easy to get to aside from traffic. The atmosphere is ideal for me: warm, cozy, friendly, dimly-lit, attractive, immaculate, nice-smelling, and played tons of my favorite salsa songs! My hubby and I both ordered lechon asado with arroz moro and maduros, and we had their sangria azul. Food portions were plenty big, but we saved room for dessert: flan de vanilla con coco. Wow! To top it all off, the prices are very reasonable!

The food was delicious and the service impeccable. We had the Vaca Frita with white rice and black bean and the Bistec Guajira with fufu de platano and the food was on point authentic Cuban. I should know, I’m Cuban. The galletas with the mango chutney are to die for. I had the special Ochun mojito and it was great. The prices are awesome for the quality of the food. Weekends they offer karaōke and drunk specials. I would definitely come back. This is really a hidden gem in Hudson county.!!
