This is the worst place the food was either old or not fresh when running low. Food quality is bland and no flavor flaming grill down the street is better. Very disappointed and I was recommended here. Never coming back

This Chinese buffet used to be Super Grand Buffet. It was closed for renovation and opened last year as Island Buffet and Buffet. The quality of food is good most of the time. Sushi(raw fish with rice) is ok but no sashimi(raw fish without rice). Chinese selections are good especially coconut shrimp. Seafood is good especially oysters and shrimp at the salad bar. Salmon was baked and just OK. Fried chicken is good as are the soups. Pizza not so much but who goes to a Chinese buffet for pizza. Price is $ 1 cheaper than Flaming Grill. Staff is friendly and helpful. Not over crowded and not as much«glitz» as Flaming Grill and it is less noisy and crowded. Good choice if you are really hungry.

Atmosphere is great. Loved every single dish I ate, except for sushi. There is not much of a sushi choice and the ones that are served doesn’t taste too good. If they improve the sushi choices it’s going to be a 5 stars place!

It’s not bad, but it’s really nothing special. I’ve been eating at buffets for most of my adult life, and I would have to say that this one is on the lower end of the scale. They have most of the typical Chinese-American dishes(general tso’s chicken, boneless spare ribs, fried rice, wings, fries, cheese sticks, etc.) The food quality is just mediocre. The servers were attentive and friendly. One thing for sure is you can’t beat the price(around $ 7 for lunch). But I would rather pay $ 3 more and go across the street to Flaming Grill, which I feel has much more variety.

This place is fantastic! Great selection of very fresh food and much more reasonably priced that Flaming Grill up the block. Sushi, made-to-order hibachi, shellfish, all kinds of hot & cold entrees & vegetables, fresh fruit & desserts, ice cream & I was told they’ll soon be offering crêpe desserts, as well. All for about $ 10 pp weeknights and another $ 1-$ 2 weekends. I live in the area so my husband & I have been going about once a week. Someone wrote the servers weren’t nice but that hasn’t been our experience at all we’ve found them friendly & quick to clear our table. We’ve brought family from out-of-town & they’ve also been happy. I highly recommend Island Buffet.

If you’re hungry and you want to eat until your belly is full then come here they have a wide variety of buffet items seafood, chicken, Hibachi chef, desserts and everything at a very reasonable price.(11 bucks per head) Mostly enjoyed the peanut chicken general Tao’s chicken. the salad bar selection is very good but who goes to a buffet place for Salad. The reason I gave it 3 stars was the cleanliness. The floor is in definite need a very thorough cleaning. And according to my Aunt Sally the ladies room reeks of urine, and is very dark. We went there for a family get together and we had our own room booked for us. I guess it’s an extra charge for that. I would come back here again just spruce up your cleaning a little bit.

You can not go wrong with this place what’s so ever. It’s cheap and food is good. On weekends it’s so packed.

Formerly called Grand Ave. Buffet, Island Buffet was the new name given after a mild renovation. Flaming Grill up the street is a much better choice. I found the food to not only not taste as good(as Flaming Grill) the selections were scarce mostly fried foods, few veggies to pick from, and some items on the buffet looked straight up nasty. Amazed they’re still in business. Expect the doors to close sooner than later. Lousy service didn’t help either. Place was better ten years ago. I don’t recommend this place.

My parents and their friends raved about this place and urged me to come with them… but I certainly don’t share their enthusiasm about this buffet. There is a wide selection of seafood, chicken, steak/beef, and cold salads, but the only things I liked were the coconut shrimp(a variation of mayo shrimp) and stuffed clams. My disappointment set in as several items I tried were cold when they shouldn’t have been. The sushi selection was also very sad — no sashimi and the only raw fish they had was paper-thin tuna. There were some raw oysters and clams… but given the quality of the rest of the food I wouldn’t have touched these with a 10 foot pole. Hibachi grill was nothing special. Dessert choices could not compare to other buffets I’ve been to. There were some cookies and dry cakes, and a freezer with ice cream(cookies and cream, butter pecan, and strawberry were ok). I saw kids with half their bodies inside the ice cream tubs trying to scoop some up… so the cleanliness of this situation is questionable. Long story short, you get what you paid for. Even a dinner on a weekend runs $ 11pp. This place is awesome if you want to get stuffed for dirt cheap prices but the quality really suffers.

I like it here, hibachi can be hit or miss but most of the time its a hit. Love their orange chicken, peanut chicken, wonton soup, staff is friendly, they used to not be but they have gotten a lot better. Pizza, mac and cheese, little pastries are good. I love their potati salad too.

This place was recently renovated. It was once called the Grand Buffet. I was there last night and would have to say, this is the best buffet in the area. In fact its the only Hibachi buffet in the area.

I come here atleast once a month with one of my buddies and it’s always a buffet to look forward to. The food is is very fresh with new trays being swapped out in a very timely manner. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We love the steak and cheese/crab wontons the best but any selection here will not disappoint!

Huge restaurant, smart combo as a hibachi and buffet. Grand selection of food to satisfy your taste buds and silence any growling stomach. I won’t embarrass myself by mentioning how many plates I had, but let’s just say I was very pleased. I love this place and the price. Friendly staff. Great space for groups with a large parking lot and private rooms.

Island Buffet turned out to big one of the biggest surprises for me this year. A friend of mine been busting my chops for 2 months about this place. He kept emphasizing how low their price is and for the quality of food the serve. I refused to believe him until I finally caved in and joined him and his family for dinner at Island Buffet. As it turns out, he was absolutely spot on. Literally, between 4 people for dinner, the bill came out to $ 45 and change! I was expecting a really typical low grade China buffet but it was far from it. Food — Most of the chinese plates were pretty solid. Nothing overly salty nor was it loaded with MSG. The fish, crab, coconut shrimp, the steak and lo mein from the hibachi grill was excellent. They also serve shrimp cocktail, fresh raw clams and oysters which really delightful. Where else are you gonna get all you could eat clams and oysters for under 11 bucks per person? The sushi variety here isn’t very large but hey, for the price you pay? I don’t mind it at all. They make a pretty bad ass shrimp tempura roll. They also serve several american dishes. BBQ spare ribs, pizza, devilled eggs, mac & cheese, and their fried fish w/tarter sauce is dynamite! Nice and meaty and not drenched and fried in batter. As for dessert. They have ice cream but it’s not soft serve ice cream with toppings. It’s not bad by any means. They offer a few flavors, vanilla, green tea, chocolate, cookies & cream, and some others. They also have a few mini cakes and other sweet treats. Service — Excellent. The entire buffet looks real sharp. It’s nice, clean, and spacious. The parking lot is humongous! There are definitely no shortage of any parking spaces here. Verdict — Monday — Friday lunch is only $ 6.99, Monday — Thursday dinner is $ 9.99, while weekends and holidays are a dollar extra. You could also take out. This buffet has turned out be a real gem in my book. The people of this neighborhood are real lucky to have a buffet this affordable with good quality as well as cleanliness for a Chinese Buffet. What I like most about this buffet, there’s absolutely no pressure of stuffing yourself because you wanna get your money’s worth. You could eat peacefully without any stress of overloading your stomach. The last Chinese buffet I went to was Harvest Buffet which turned out to be a miserable unworthy and expensive experience. That experience alone made me think twice of ever going to another buffet again until I finally tried Island Buffet. For the price they charge, it’s really legit so give them a shot. Reason for 4 stars and why not 5? They don’t refill the raw clams and oysters very fast. They don’t have any small sauce dish/plates for the wasabi and sushi, cocktail sauce, tarter sauce. Sushi is good but I wished they were made a little better. Visually, they just don’t look very good.

Food is just kind of OK compared to other Chinese buffets. They have a sushi bar but the sushi isn’t as good as some of the other places I’ve been. Their saving grace is that they have a whole freezer of self serve ice cream — many flavors and a habachi section made to order. Staff is friendly and attentive. Very cheap price for what it is. Seemed clean and relatively packed

Finally !!! This place has been given a face lift and a new assortment of foods that were desperately needed! I have to say I liked the variety and freshness of the food served and the staff were polite and diligent. Out of the two buffets in baldwin I would pick this one over the flaming grill.

This place is now called«Island Buffet Hibachi Grill.» They FINALLY gave it a much needed renovation and it looks much better now. It doesn’t look like it’s falling apart with their wallpaper walls peeling and their disgustingly dirty rugs. The price is also better. Price ranges between $ 7-$ 11 depending on when you go. Also, you can reserve their party room at no cost where as before you had to have a minimum of 35 people(i think) and had to put down a deposit, so that’s a plus. They have some new food items, but the quality is still«ok». Overall, for the price that it is, you get what you get.

This place isn’t all that bad. I go primarily for the crab legs, which tend to vary in quality. On a few occasions they’ve been really good, and on other occasions quite bland. They also serve dungeness crabs, which are always good, however, they are not always served. They also serve hot clams in the shell which are pretty good. They serve good buffet standards(fried chicken wings, chicken on a stick, fried fish, lo mein, rice, etc). I’m not a sushi person, but from what I can tell, their selection is not great. The few California rolls that I’ve had were fresh. I’m not a big carb person, so I can’t comment on the dessert. I wouldn’t break a leg to visit this place, but if you’re in the area and hungry, the price is not bad and you can do a lot worse.
