so i recently moved to long island from westchester and now i live in baldwin, and i was looking around for jamaican food restaurants since i really love their oxtail dish, i came across this restaurant and i decided to give it a try, i have been going there like 3 times already to their takeout place and i have to say that the older lady behind the counter serving the food treats certain people differently and she makes it really obvious, im a spanish guy and i have have been standing in line waiting for my turn seeing how friendly she interacts with people ahead of me that she is taking care of, and as soon as my time comes her whole facial expression changes and when it comes down to her to handing me my food she just leaves it on the counter and walks away smh. and this has happened on the 3 occasions that i been there not cool SOWAIT. «i dont get a thank you have a good day» like everyone else? i must say thats so unprofessional. the food is ok it could be better, but for that poor service i will definitely go elsewhere.

I bought a Groupon food was so nasty cabbage hard oxtail tough an no butter beans. I have to go back because I still have 2 groupon to use I am very disppointed in the food 1st time I ate here. They need a new chef to know how to cook… I am praying they fix this matter or they will loose business. I know Jamaican food an this here didn’t pass the test

I have dined here a few times. I usually go next door to get food to go. Food is good a big overpriced when dining in, $ 14 for jerk chicken and rice and peas. It was a little surreal inside. When I walked in I felt like everyone was looking at me as all of the tables faced the main entrance and the bar. I recommend food for take out as you get good Jamaican food for less than you would pay inside.

Definitely 5 stars. Everything was great! The food was really good. Drinks were great and not watered down. The place is very clean! Great music! Great atmosphere! The presentation of the food was great! The staff was great! The staff and owner take pride in the place and it shows. I have zero complaints. I highly recommend and will definitely come again.

If you dont know, I’m here to tell you… Spices Negril is the spot. Entire experience was outstanding. Atmosphere was extremely inviting, and the food was«off the chain». Authentic spices and flavors. If you’re on Long Island or anywhere in the 5 boroughs — a must visit and experience.

Ok let me start off by saying the food is good but too bad I couldn’t sit to enjoy my food because it took way to long to come out I just ended up taking it to go I got there on a Friday night at 8pm there were a few people at the bar and a few people sitting a tables in the dinning area. When my best friend and I walked in there was no greeter or hostess to seat is we asked someone who looked like they worked there to help us to where to sit, he found someone and she sat us. We sat for about 20 mins before she took out drink order when she finally came we just have her our whole order all at once drinks apps and entrée. It took forever for us to get our drinks it would’ve been quicker if we went to the bar and order drinks a good 20 mins in after now being there for at least a half hour or so we finally got the drinks and some bread By the time someone else came with the appetizer we ordered we asked her for another order for our drinks and she seemed to have an slight attitude for whatever reason . While all this is happening I noticed a table of four that came in after us was already done with there meal and we still didn’t get ours and we only ordered one plate to share ! At this point we were over it I didn’t see the waitress so I asked someone random maybe she was a manager or something just for a to go and the bill It took her no less than 5 mins to bring the bill plus the food to go and we left. So like I said the food was good but the service was horrible and it was not busy at all for a Friday night so I wish I could say maybe because they were busy that just not the case next time I will just order to go not to stay and eat.

I’m Jamaican and I know my breakfast… it had no seasoning and I basically threw the food away. The fasts pasta is great but breakfast I will stick with tropical jerk. I called and let her know that it wasn’t what I expected

I love Caribbean food. Since its labor day weekend I might as well start off the festivities here. Great food and the drinks are delicious. «Some» of the staff is really nice. The gentleman that was in charge was very nice. He went to every table to say hello. I came before on a Thursday and they had live music. The space is not very big but it’s cozy. Mature crowd, average noise level unless the house band is there.

Go to tropical jerk If you in the mood for Jamaican food or go to foot prints for their rasta pasta… I ordered takeout rasta pasta literally it tasted like they just reheated pasta from the pervious night so disgusting… service sucks badly… mad rude… prices are not reasonable either, small portions for so little food. The owner is very sweet and nice but he needs a better chef and waitresses… I will not recommend this place at all…

I am a Jamaican And I tried to give this place a chance. The take out staff is horrible inattentive and rude. This restaurant does not serve cornmeal porridge ever. What Jamaican restaurant doesn’t make cornmeal? I literally walk around the corner every weekend asking for porridge. They had it once, I guess that chef doesn’t work there anymore. Two weeks ago I went for lunch. I asked for a lunch special stewed peas. The woman at the counter told me it was too late to order the lunch special. I told her that I was not interested in having any meat just rice and basically the beans since I don’t eat meat. She gave me a blank stare. I decided to take my business else where. Last night I called in an order for brown stewed fish. The fish must have been reheated from a previous night. It ended up in the trash. It’s sad when you have to leave your community and drive to queens to get decent Jamaican food. Now, when I want edible Jamaican food I drive to Springfield blvd in Queens Spring gardens never disappoints.

This is for take-out only. Decided to order breakfast take-out for the family one Sunday morning. The take-out section has a separate entrance and is bright and very clean. We chose two orders of Ackee and Salt Fish, plus an order of Liver with boiled yam and bananas. Each dish is accompanied with two small slices of plantain and an option of a fried dumpling. I had to ask for a few more slices of plantain and to spoon in a little bit more Ackee, plus I bought four additional fried dumplings at .50 cents each. The portions were small, but the flavor of everything was on point. And their fried dumplings rivaled my family’s dumplings. To spice up the flavors to our liking we had to add some scotch bonnet hot sauce as there was no spice to any of the dishes, which is understandable, not everyone can manage the heat. So, flavors are good, prices are high and portions are small. But the bright side is that Spices also offers a Sunday Brunch in the main restaurant which might turn out to be a much better deal. Haven’t heard or seen any other Unilocal brunch reviews, so we will try their brunch one day. Small Ackee and Salt Fish — $ 10.00 Small Liver with Yam and Banana — $ 8.00

Awesome location. Caribbean music. Mature crowds attended. Rum Punch and other specialty drinks. Their food menu has great selection with take out orders if needed. Décor is very island ish. Parking on premises. Love their two for one drinks. Mixologist on deck, definitely take care of you. Extremely friendly. Love the LIVEBANDNIGHT.

It was okay. –Clean(didn’t use the toilet so I can’t say about there. –Mature crowd –Nice CD music(mainly Caribbean) –Live music as well –Separate room for small private functions but no bar in that area. If you’re in the private room, when you purchase drinks you may need to walk on the sidewalk to get back to it… until you discover the back(as we did). I didn’t like that back and forth ish… especially in the cold. –The ONE Waitress for so many patrons is slow and not very professional. One of my pet peeves was when she took payments from one customer, then after her 5 min chat with others(while we tried to get her attention), served our drinks without washing her hands. I cringed as she massaged my straw before dropping it into my Johnny. Yeah I immediately took it out! Money, bottle then an uncovered straw in my drink wasn’t nice. I’m OCD like that. I’m just not a fan of this place The End.

The food and drinks are good here. The location is cute, cozy and clean! However… Customer service sucks! There was one waitress covering the whole dinning room and she was slow! She did not ask us what drinks we wanted and failed to check in. I can’t blame her since she was the only one servicing all guests! Also, it took so long to get our food!!! By the time my food came out it was cold! All my guests food was not served at the same time! By the way the drinks are costly! Its Manhattan prices in Long Island In order for me to go back the customer service has to improve!

I went there last night with a couple of co-worker we had made reservation… they had failed to mention to us that they were having an event the place is so small we got here when it was empty before we can even get comfortable or get a menu or a glass of water it got packed. People were bracing on our chairs the SERVICEWASHORRIBLE when the food finally came only half the people at the table got there food I will NEVER go to this place again or recommend anyone too … P.s if your going to this place to eat and dance good luck, they don’t have a dance floor, they have to move the tables in order for u to dance I didn’t want to give them any stars but Unilocal say I do so here’s 1 star
