Kioko Center Pediatric Occupational Therapy

My son was getting OT through the public school with an IEP for three years. He was also having problems with anxiety and executive functioning. We went for a evaluation with Miss Katie. She has been working with my son for a year now. What a difference a year makes! He no longer has a high level of anxiety. He was taught many strategies to help with anxiety along with tools to use. I saw the comments on yoga. Yoga not also strengthened his core but also helps relieve his anxiety by tuning into what his body is feeling. There is evidence-​based research showing that yoga is very useful to children with anxiety and weakened core strength. My son’s self-​esteem has increased and his handwriting has greatly improved. Miss Katie worked closely with his teacher at school to come up with the best plan possible. I felt the plan and goals were spelled out in progress notes that were given at regular intervals. He has made great strides at kioko and is like a whole new child. I would recommend this place to anyone and especially Miss Katie. I am a nurse who works with both children and adults. I do extensive research before allowing my child to be treated, using meta-​analysis and evidence-​based research. They use the latest up to date treatment and are consistently striving to find the best treatment plan to fit each individual child. I would highly recommend them.

I brought my daughter to Kioko Center when she was 2 ½. My daughter showed signs of sensory processsing disorder. Tara, the owner was kind and immediately got my little gal. It turns out she did have sensory processing disorder and she began going to the Kioko center regularly. It made a HUGE difference!!!
My daughter is now 9 and is doing great! She also has PDD-​NOS. She continues to see Tara from time to time (she gets OT at school as part of her IEP) and she just had a blast at Tara’s summer day camp.
Tara changed our life and she and her entire staff are amazing. The things they do at the Kioko center and at her camp make a huge difference.

We have been seeing Dr. Tara McCormick and her staff since my son was 6 (he is now going on 12). I hightly recommend this clinic for a child with ASD or other developmental issues. Tara and her staff are knowledgeable and caring. My son has come a long way due to Taras extensive knowledge and caring staff If you are looking for an OT program I wouldn’t hesitate to check out The Kioko Center. I wouldn’t go to any other place for my sons needs.

Brought in my child because someone I respect recommended Kioko (he won’t be recommending this place anymore). I found it puzzling that an OT was working on OCD using lessons out of a workbook. Problem is, my child doesn’t have a diagnosis of OCD — she has ASD. The owner did yoga moves that my dear daughter can’t possibly do (ever) … not sure the point other than to show off? An intern wrote the evaluation/​report. They didn’t reach most of the goals on their own plan for my daughter. Do not recommend. As for the glowing, generic reviews on here, would love to see what results you saw specifically.
