Everything is very fresh. There is a very wide variety of sandwiches, salads and they are all good. It’s open from 11:00 — 3:00. Limited parking and there seems to be a crowd every day. It’s been voted best deli in Norman and I have to agree. Two locations now makes it easier. Try this place out!

First of all, go early or call ahead to save some turtle cookies. They are the best cookies ever! The hot ham and cheese is delish with the house special sauce, a red cherry pepper relish. It’s kind of like spicy sweet banana peppers and really good. The mac and cheese is creamy and peppery and also delicious! I’m not a huge fan of the reuben. They aren’t really served hot and grilled, the cheese isn’t all melty and the kraut is really bitter. It still tastes like raw cabbage, not quite sour enough. I suspect it’s homemade though. Customer service is always great, it’s always packed for lunch and the quality is always consistent!

No trip to Norman is complete until you get a sandwich at Penny Hill. Best sandwiches in town, and they’ve been doing it for a long time. The interior is very comfortable, and a Sooner fan will love it. Clippings, posters, and autographs everywhere. It’s a fantastic space. There is a very large menu, including sandwiches, salads, baked potatoes, and soups. I typically get the #16, chicken club. It has chicken, avocado, bacon, swiss, cherry peppers, and veggies. The cherry peppers are fantastic, I recommend adding them to any sandwich. Sandwiches come in 8 and 12 inch, but I find that the show is right, 8 is enough. The bread is fresh baked with sesame seeds. The top of the bread is crunchy, but the inside is soft and pillowy. They are excellent sandwich buns, light, but strong enough to not fall apart. Ordering is quick, and they get your food out pretty fast as well, even during the lunch rush. If you don’t see a sandwich to your liking on the menu(which seems unlikely to me), you can always create one. Fantastic local sandwich place, highly recommended.

Hands-down the best sandwiches in town… There are so many choices, and I have yet to try something that I didn’t think was great. Their 2nd location(that just opened on Lindsay street) has TVs at every table — great for watching games!

I’ve been going to this place since it first opened when I was a kid. I’ve been through it’s various owners and I still love the place. I’d be at my parents store next door and I would just go grab a Cali club next door at PHS and smile. Good price. Great SOONER atmosphere… man I’m hungry now.

The fact that a place this great has not yet been reviewed on Unilocal shows how under the radar it is(although it’s been«Best of Norman» for the past number of years). I lived in Norman for a year before discovering it, and man am I glad I did. The ambiance at PHD is all-Sooner. The walls are covered in new and old Sooner memorabilia, which, even for a Cornhusker like myself, makes for a cool atmosphere. The service is fast. Walk up, pick up a menu or look at the wall to order, pay(they take plastic), and they’ll call your name when it’s ready. Their menu, which you can check out at their website, is huge. I’ve only tried the subs, but I plan to go back to sample the soups, salads, baked potatoes, hot dogs, and wraps. Back to the subs — they have a huge number of menu choices or, of course, you can create your own. Meatball sub? Check. Italian sausage, anyone? Check. Perhaps a philly or monte cristo? Check and check. The subs come in two sizes, essentially pretty big and really big, and in white or wheat. Refills on soda are free and from the fountain. What’s that you say? Only pansies drink soda? Well, then order a Red Stripe from their limited but respectable bottled beer menu. Although I would prefer something other than Frito Lay, their chip selection is larger than most delis. Prices are slightly better than the other non-chain delis around this town. I’ll be back again and again.
