I was stranded in Norman for 2 days due to my car being worked on extensively by the guys at Firestone across the street. I walked into this Motel 6 not knowing what to expect. Turns out that this location exceeded my expectations. Very clean(I stayed on the top floor), quiet, and in a pretty decent location, considering that it is right next to I-35 northbound. This Motel 6 is multi-level, and seems to have been built or renovated within the last 2 – 3 years. It is adjacent to a couple of car dealerships, yet within walking distance of a Sonic and other fast food places, in addition to a supermarket. In crossing I-35(which I had to do in order to pick up my car from Firestone), this Motel 6 location is probably ¾ to 1 mile of walking into a pretty nice shopping district of Norman. The rate is pretty standard here as within most Motel 6 locations($ 45−55/night). The parking area is pretty adequate, and there weren’t any issues with noise despite getting all sorts of patrons, be it travelers(like myself), OU& other visiting college students, or your standard booty call. The Wifi was of good quality, and even the coffee was pretty good at this location. If I need a last minute location to rest my head at night, I’ll certainly consider this Motel 6 once again.

Sometimes, I stay at cheap motels when all I want is a bed and a few hours sleep. Such was the case on 19 September 2015 when I stopped here before my flight out of Dallas the next afternoon. I have to say that this multi-story Motel 6 looks better than most. The interior is a bit institutional but the lobby was very clean. They gave me room 101 on the ground level and it mirrored the lobby feel but that was a good thing. After a few hours, I went to sleep. At 5:00am, I suddenly awoke because my right hand felt odd. I pulled back the covers and found a bed bug — rather engorged at this point — that was munching on my hand. It had obviously been dining for a while because I had seven open wounds. Now, before I go further, it must be said that bed bugs aren’t limited to cheap motels. It’s somewhat of a problem in North America and 5-star hotels aren’t immune. Things happen even at the cleanest of places. I get it. Frankly, based on the appearance of this motel, I wouldn’t have bet on bed bugs here. This is my first experience with these critters so within thirty minutes, I got dressed, packed my bag, took photos of the bug and my hand in case of any potential medical issues — hey, what did I know? — then went straight to the lobby. The young man at the desk seemed a bit groggy at 5:30am. His eyes widened, though, when I showed him my right hand. He acknowledged that I had obviously been bitten. He gave me the card of his general manager and said she would contact me. After my flight home from Dallas the next day, I waited a few days but didn’t hear from the general manager. I then called and spoke to her. She apologized and said she would send me a refund immediately. I also asked for $ 250 for the clothing I trashed — I wasn’t about to take that on a plane — but told her there were no medical issues. My hand just had to heal but it seemed okay.(As of this writing, my hand still has the visible scar from one wound but I’m sure it will fade away.) She said she would follow-up with me. Since this is a franchised Motel 6, the chain’s corporate office gave me the owner’s information and I followed up with him. The owner assured me that he would consult with the motel’s general manager. Unfortunately, I didn’t hear from either party even after waiting a few weeks. I called the owner but his assistant said he wasn’t available but they would follow-up. Fast forward another few weeks and I didn’t hear from anyone. I then called the motel’s general manager who took a completely different tone with me. She all but accused me of inventing a story then said she would not refund my night’s stay. She didn’t appreciate my having called the owner but, I ask, what would you do? I was doing my due diligence but that seemed to bother her. So, what happens now? Well, nothing. Yeah, I have the photos and the desk person’s acknowledgement that I was bitten. All I wanted was reimbursement for a room and some clothing. At this point, none of this is worth the continued aggravation and I don’t even want my money back. I’m done. It’s truly disappointing that the owner and/or general manager didn’t step up to a level of basic courtesy for one of their motel guests. Would I discourage you from staying here? Nope. This place seems otherwise acceptable. I doubt there is a real bug problem here. Again, things happen. I was just very unlucky and those things happened to me.

This motel 6 is strangely fancy. All the rooms have microwaves and refrigerators and there’s room service?! Room service. I don’t know if all the rooms have hardwood floors but ours does. I’ve never seen a motel 6 like this before. I would definitely recommend it. The only complaint I have is that the lobby smells really weird and our room kind of smells like bleach and coconut.

Stayed here for a sooner game. Found it was one of the best values in the area for the price. Everything was clean, staff was friendly, no problems.

One of the better Motel 6’s I have stayed at. Everything seemed clean and tidy. I am looking at James B. review and the only thing I can relate to is that I had one towel that looked a little old, other than that it was just fine. The receptionist though seemed to have to do work upstairs often and posted a sign that he would be back shortly which he was. He posted the sign again when I went back through to get my luggage. He seemed competent enough and apologized saying that there was an issue upstairs. Across my room there was an obnoxious family that kept the door to their room wide open, filling the lobby with a pizza smell. They were annoying for a while but then left, probably to go party it up. I do not blame Motel 6 for that.

The worst Hotel I have ever stayed at. Here are a few of things that really got me: 1) Carpet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years 2) The beds were hard as a rock 3) The pillows sucked(I had a better pillow in a war zone) 4) The bath towels… YUCK, they were old and disgusting. They looked like they were handed down from a hotel that upgraded their towels. Those towels should be in some car garage. 5) The AC/Heater unit was the loudest thing I have heard in a long time. Every-time it turned on I would wake up. 6) the WOOL blanket was so old I think it was used during the Korean War. Unbelievable! This place only got 1 start because Unilocal would not let me post with out selecting at least one. I would expect a lot more from a Hotel that charges $ 69.99 for a room with NO breakfast.
