Unfortunately I can not recommend this hotel, because I was another one of the members of the family that was stuck in the elevator for almost an hour. The manager could not be bothered to read the email my niece sent Saturday night, it hadn’t been read by Monday morning. Richard lied to my face about the other’s that had been stuck in it, saying that they were understanding about it being a mechanical issue, sorry buddy but not a one of us was OK with any of it and we’re running our concerns up the chain of command. You know, it might have been easier to handle if someone from the hotel had A) Call 911 instead of us having to do it; B) Kept in contact with us to let us know what was going on, C) Been there when the fire fighters finally were able to open the doors(as we were a foot and a half above the 2nd floor) to see if we were OK, D) That Richard the GM of this hotel had bothered to check in with us when he was on duty on Sunday — no call, nothing. E) shown any concern about their customers other than charging our credit cards the minute they handed over a key. It was only Leroy Saturday night that seemed to be concerned at all, but now I’m not sure if it was concern for us or his job. If you decide to stay at this hotel — STAYOFFTHOSEELEVATORS,

Terrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The rooms were nice. However, while we were there, my family got stuck in their elevator for an hour. The hotel handled it terribly. I had to call 911 myself to get us out. When the firefighters arrived, they had trouble opening the door, and asked repeatedly for the elevator company to be called to assist, and were refused. Also, during this time, after one initial response to the emergency call, the hotel ignored more than 10 emergency calls from the elevator and never attempted to explain to us what was going on. Not a single staff member inquired about how we were when we finally got out. To their credit, they did remove the charges from that one night. The manager of the hotel is unbelievable. I sent him a very long, polite email discussing our concerns. He did not bother to read it. When I went to speak to him, the first thing he said was that it wasn’t the hotel’s fault that their own equipment went out, even after I told him that multiple members of our group and that of another wedding had previous issues with the elevator. It is still not fixed, and now the other elevator is having similar issues. He showed little to no concern for the situation, and was extremely patronizing when I tried to discuss our treatment with him. Edited in response to the manager’s reply: None of my family members were happy with this situation or this manager. Per my aunt: «When we checked out in the am, he acted as though he had no idea what happened.» The hotel did not work diligently to get us out — again, I had to call 911 myself, or we would likely still be in there. Edited again to add: The manager sent an email to my aunt threatening to sue her based on her complaint here on Unilocal.What kind of business is this?

I feel guilty as hell not giving at least four. Staff very professional — even fun at check in. New with clean rooms. Good walking distance eateries. Big bugaboo? When your feet hit the floor in the morning your body is craving hot breakfast, and to not have even plain eggs at the buffet… frustrating disappointment. Both times I’ve stayed here i’ve come downstairs only to find the only egg selection being pre-made Western Omelets that look dry. The second time I noticed the sides(what looked like polish sausage and red potatoes) both empty. When the place is busy that tends to happen. So, forced to eat cold pizza for breakfast. Petty of me? Yes. I’d recommend this hotel and its professional friendly staff. Broaden the breakfast selection.

Well I normally don’t write hotel reviews, but this time I felt obliged to. I came to Bloomington-Normal to visit my friends Stevie and Kimmy(not Kimmy Gibbler from Full House yall). My hotel room was super fab! It’s like the fab 5(throwback!) decorated this place. I could not complain one bit with my room or with the service. The nice man Leroy at the front desk was extremely friendly and personable(leeeeeeeeerrroooyyyyyy jenkins!) Highly recommend and would come again!!!

Great hotel! Friendly staff and very clean rooms! Hotel has a very nice contemporary décor, and the FREE breakfast is amazing! When I’m in the area, I will definitely stay here again! Great job guys! Keep doing what you’re doing.

Great hotel! The rooms are large, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is standard fare, but it gets the job done. As a bonus, you can walk across the parking lot to Destihl and enjoy some high quality brew.

We arrived at midnight and they had a room for us. Up early for a swim with a warm breakfast before heading down the road again. Friendly staff, clean rooms and well maintained property. We enjoyed our stay & would gladly book there again in the future.

To be perfectly honest, we had some issues when we stayed at this hotel this past weekend. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived at 4:30pm and when we asked to speak to a manager, no manager appeared. Upon checkout, nobody was at the front desk and we ended up not speaking to anyone after waiting and just left our keys on the counter. They were clearly having some staffing issues and unable to handle the amount of guests staying that weekend. That being said, once I sent an email to the GM of the hotel explaining our dissatisfaction, he apologized and ensured me he is working on getting proper staffing to better care for their guests. I very much appreciated the quick, honest response that wasn’t riddled with excuses, but with his plan to fix the issues. As someone who has worked in retail and customer service for many years, I understand that things happen and there are rough days. I believe a true measure of customer service is when something goes wrong and how it is handled. Thank you Richard, for the response and for handling it the way I think all issues should be handled: Apologetic, honest, sincere, and without excuse. As far as the rest of the hotel — very nice, clean, great location.

We stayed here after a long day on a cross-country motorcycle trip. This hotel was just what we needed! The staff was friendly and courteous. The hot tub was just what the doctor ordered. Destihl Brew Pub is very convenient with an easy walk across the parking lot. The next morning my office called and I had to take care of some business. The Business Center is top notch with a Mac and a PC for your needs. I would highly recommend and I will be back!

This Hampton Inn is better than a lot of the other ones I have stayed in. Great beds, beautiful rooms, and friendly staff that makes staying here a breeze. After the Doubletree, this is my favorite hotel as they have good internet and most importantly a bunch of good restaurants and stores nearby. Right across the parking lot is Destihl Brewery and Restaurant. Not my favorite beers, but their food is fantastic! Standard free breakfast and no problems with checking in and out add to the ease of staying here. They’re often sold out, so book early!

Four Seasons… why? The Renaissance… why? Why spend all that money if there is a Hampton Inn wherever you’re traveling? Hampton Inn has everything you need. I can’t really think of anything I want to say about this specific Hampton Inn, but I’ve always been a fan of the Hampton Inn. They are very clean, the staff is helpful… OHYESNOW I REMEMBER!!! THEFREEBREAKFAST!!! The breakfast spread for the guests is ridiculous!!! Warm waffles, sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes. The best thing I saw was the fridge and the individual cartons of Silk soy milk. I just wanted to steal the whole thing… is it stealing if its a free breakfast? The fruit was fresh, and the employees keep everything fully stocked. Ashley and I had a great workout in the fitness room and flopped around in the pool too. Hampton Inn, I love thee.

I’m not sure why some people are so enamored with place and give it such glowing reviews as it’s on par with other Hamptons I’ve stayed in — no better, no worse, exactly what I’ve come to expect from Hampton Inns. I suppose the location is great except it’s really hidden — good thing the front desk told me to look behind the Hobby Lobby when I called! As a business traveler just passing through for 1 night, the fact that it’s within walking distance to so many attractions isn’t of much value to me although I can see if you’re staying long term and in your room a lot with no car that’s something to consider. The breakfast –meh, I’ve had better at other comparable hotels. I can’t really recall if all Hamptons serve the same breakfast, but turkey sausage links with what appears to be processed eggs, and a belgium waffle maker with only syrup and NO sweet pie filling fruit or better yet, a thawed frozen berry mix with whipped cream just don’t do it for me. At least give me real eggs or a real egg cheese omlet and real sausage and/or sausage gravy over biscuits like so many other comparable hotels! Update — I paid a bit more attention to the other Hamptons I’ve stayed in since this review and found other seem to serve the subpar breakfast of processed eggs on Sat too, so perhaps all Hamptons do this on weekends. I’ve no idea why they would except there’s typically families with lots of kids staying on weekends so perhaps it a cost savings measure. I’ll assume on weekdays they serve the usual omlets an real sausage and bacon to the business travelers.

For the business traveller. This Hampton-Inn is a notch higher quality than most Hampton Inn’s. The room has decent beds, furniture, tv, desk, curved showed rod. The towels are somewhat thick. Definitely passes the lithmus test for business travel. They are doing some renovations, but it doesn’t disrupt too much. Many nearby restaurants — walking distance.

The absolute best hotel in the area, hands down! I used to live in normal and relocated for school and work. I’ve tried every hotel in the area when I have come back to visit family and this is the CLEANEST hotel and friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered. The breakfast was top-notch as well! The selection was more than what is generally offered for a complimentary breakfast and FRESH! One thing that isn’t as important to me, but very important to some is that this hotel has the best location of any hotel in the B/N area. Shops and dining are within walking distance. Speaking as one of the pickiest hotel critics, I was very impressed with my stay!

We loved staying here. It’s close enough to Chicago that you can get there within 2 hours or so. And the running trail is right outside the front door.(Key: go left out the front, down the hill, left to the light and through the 3 wooden poles. The trail is right there. Go right on the trail. Trust me.) The food was amazing, better than most of the places we’ve stayed. The beds were great and the bathroom was clean.

My nonsmoking room smelled of smoke. This may be related to the smoke detector’s battery being missing(quite visibly, with the cover left open). The breakfast ran out of juice early, and the eggs were, we’re quite certain, rubber-based props. The biscuits were more likely based on chalk. In the middle of winter, the central heat seems to be turned up to «bake», with the room AC units modulating on for 30 seconds every 5 minutes to compensate. The toilet didn’t flush. At all. Our neighbors’ had lesser issues. I’m being generous with 2 stars, because it wasn’t drafty or noisy.
