I’ll admit, any place in Hampton Roads that gives a military discount gets a bump up in rating by me.
I’m one of those people that still writes actual cards and letters vice lots of e-​mails for my personal contacts. That always has me on the lookout for places that have quality cards and stationery.
Papyrus has a wide selection of cards for all occasions. They also have great blank cards that can meet any need. I also like the fact that they will help design personal stationery for a special occasion or personal stationery for daily use. I haven’t used that service but I have seen that it is available.
I also like the frequent purchase program they have. Where you get a free card anytime you buy three or more. I’m usually buying 5 or 6 cards at a time so a couple of free ones are always nice.
The downside for this store is that they are small so they have cards for the current season and the typical birthday, sympathy, get well selection. The other issue is that they can be a little expensive but for a quality card for someone special I’m okay with spending a little money.
The staff here is always friendly and helpful so I enjoy my visits.

Products inside were great but went in today, saw some Kate Spade items in the window that I just needed! So I am the only one in the store and the 2 cashiers see me and don’t acknowledge me… Ummm okay. It is 8 degrees outside so I am bundled up but I have a bag from the coach store in my hand so clearly I am not homeless. So I keep looking and I see they do invitations!!! How great because my husband is having his 40^th next year (at O’connors — and Granby theater) and we have been looking for the perfect invite! So I look around and these cashiers CLEARLY see me so I decide to walk around more hoping someone will acknowledge me! Well about 7 minutes in someone finally says «hi» so I decide F this and left and went to Dillards which had the same Kate Spade! So in turn store was great just need to reteach the staff how to help people! Hope they don’t work on commission!

After I have purchased that special gift, I always want to wrap it to look like a masterpiece and pair it with a lovely, unique card. What is my secret – Papyrus.
Usually, I do all my own gift wrapping and I rifle through all the beautifully crafted papers and bows in any color I could want. The girls are always excited to help me choose. There are times when I have spent so much time trying to find that last minute gift that I need them to do the wrapping. So, go peer over the register and see the most authentic artsy paper that literally will turn your gift into a work of art. You have never seen giftwrapping like this anywhere.
When you need a card for that special occasion, skip Hallmark and just come here. Each card is designed to be unique and memorable. If you want whimsical, they have whimsical. You want something out of the Great Gatsby, yes, you will get that. Bring a little more HGTV to your world and check out Papyrus.

If you are looking to an alternative to the ho-​hum predictability of Hallmark and American Greetings, visit Papyrus. You may spend a few dollars more, but we’re pretty sure that your card will have a longer shelf life than the average greeting which immediately ends up in the circular file.

Papyrus is located inside of MacArthur Mall in Norfolk. I HATE HATE HATE picking out cards from drug stores, target, hallmark, etc. But at Papyrus they actually have really funny, clever cards. There’s nothing I hate more than reading 1,000 lame cards & having to settle for something stupid. i’ve always found the card i’ve been looking for in less than 5 minutes at Papyrus. Also, they have amazing wrapping paper, bags, good «coffee table» books, etc. So, in addition to having really cute cards & gifts, they also have amazing staff. i recently went to a high end card store to buy my wedding invitations & they were asking for wayyyy more than they deserved for the simple design i wanted. so, i went to Papyrus & Emily was able to help me find exactly what I wanted. She guided my mom & I thru the entire process– from finding an invitation in the EXACT shade of pink I was looking for– to choosing the font i wanted for our monogram. She even offered to tie the ribbons on our invitations b/​c William Arthur (the wedding invitation designer) would have charged us to assemble the bows. Emily said she & some of the other staff would be glad to do it for free. Emily & the other girls there are awesome!
