My first trip to Jesse’s Place was for breakfast early morning right after work. I was immediately impressed by the small«mom and pop» diner feel that this establishment had. The waitress greeted me as soon as I stepped into the door which made me feel warm and wanted. This diner has a lot of regular customers and they seem to know them all by name. I instantly fell in love with the homestyle fries! I came back a second time for lunch with a friend. We had the opportunity to actually meet the owner Jesse. He was friendly, approachable and very down to earth! He took care in asking us exactly how we wanted our order made. The Cajun Chicken Philly sub was awesome! The sweet tea w/lemon was on point! And even the cooks came from the back to ask us how the meal was. The waitress was warm, sweet, engaging and very efficient! I actually hate eating out, so to come to a establishment where the people actually enjoy their job and it shows, is very refreshing! I will be coming back to Jesse’s Place again and I will make sure to tell my family, friends and coworkers over at TSA to patronize this little gem that is tucked away in Norfolk! Whatever you do, don’t forget to try the homestyle fries! LOL

This food was really good. They all seem to really know there regular customers. I’m felt a little out of place, because I’m so young eating out alone. I do plan on going back and telling my friends. I want to try the French toast next time. Even other people’s food looked good.

The last few times on sundays we have been the service has been SLOW! 1 waitress working and when you walk in she says sit anywhere it will be a minute but I will get to you. You know your in for a wait. Food is good but not worth the wait. Maybe if they had a second waitress I’d go agin but there are just to many people at 830 – 900 on a Sunday am for 1 person.

Sunday morning and I couldn’t have asked for a better brunch with a great friend. We had the crab omlette and the traditional benedict. The servers were very friendly and the food came out to our table quickly. Everything was excellent!

Finally! I good diner in VA. That’s one thing I have been missing from home. Food was delicious. We got the tidewater and the granby burgers and two milkshakes. :D the staff is super friendly and the atmosphere here is family oriented. Definitely will be back!

The place is hard to spot driving past. It is nice and clean the waitress was very nice. They have a large selection on the menu w daily specials. My friend had some delicious split pea soup. She ordered the eggplant parmigiano which was just. Ok. I had the steak n cheese w homemade fries. The fries were good but cold the sandwich was all bread no meat. Subway quality.

Service was great and the staff were exceptionally pleasant, but the food was not good. Some items were okay, but all seemed cheap and I think I had bad meat. I had enjoyed my first visit there, but this time I took guests and was embarrassed and dissatisfied. Won’t be back.

Okay, FINALLY tried this spot and I must admit I was pleased with the atmosphere and food. I had the five points grinder, which was loaded with meat! My friend had the fried seafood combo, which came with fries and Cole slaw. Again, a lot of food and good eats. Review would be higher if service wasn’t a bit off. Our server took my half grinder and threw it away by mistake(they replaced my half sandwich). She didn’t ask if I wanted to take it with me. I assumed that she would wrap it up for me! Not mad, actually thought it was kinda funny! Anyway, can’t wait to return for breakfast ;)

I’ve eaten here 3 times. The first 2 times for breakfast. Food was good, service so, so. Lunch was very disappointing. The liver was ½ of what other restaurants serve… potatoes were half mashed with chunks of almost cooked potatoes and the mixed vegetables were straight out of a can… nothing added to even try to enhance the flavor. They need to stick to breakfast ONLY!

A good solid diner. They are sticking to their roots and those things that make them a comfortable place to visit. They have solid food with good taste and hearty servings. Nothing fancy or outside good diner food. We came in and sat down right away. I could tell that the regulars here are well known by the staff and they have lots of families who frequent this place. I ordered the stuffed French toast. The fruit filling was nice. Not overly sweet and it had obviously been made on site. Lots of nice berries. My friend had the meat lovers omelet. It was perfectly cooked and had lots of meat(obviously). The only down side was that the home fries were close to over done, not burnt but a little tough. We both had the sausage patties which were standard sausage. Nothing special. This is a good little diner. They cater to the regulars and treat everyone like family when they come in. I’d definitely come back for lunch again.

I was invited with a friend for brunch after Sunday mass. My first impression, this is like a neighborhood diner where the staff knows their guests. As we settled in and ordered our food, I observed that most of the clientele are old couple, families and retired people…(yes! I wasn’t mistaken). Don’t get me wrong, I just adore the idea of family bonding which more likely the same. This place is very charming and homey. The food is average, nothing special but a home cooked meal that filled your stomach right. The service is superb. The staffs are very friendly and makes you feel at home. Surely, I will definitely come back and try new menu.

Charming little place tucked away in Norfolk. Stopped in for lunch special, fish n chips, and was blow away. Made to order, crunchy and super tasty, huge plate of fish, fries, slaw and soup. Finacee loved his chilli dog too. Plus three lunches for $ 20! My only wish was that they were open for dinner.

First visit impression on a Sunday around 815am. Ordered the Caribbean omelette with toast and grits as sides. The omelette was very well done with a creamy taste and texture with bacon mixed in to the egg mixture and pepper jack cheese adding to a smooth kick. Toast was plentiful as a side but grits were a little undercooked which I had read about in a previous review. Service was friendly and the place had a lot of regulars arriving as I finished my meal.

Have eaten breakfast here several times. Pros — Service is always great. Eggs are consistently cooked absolutely perfectly. Breakfast burritos are huge and delicious. Cons — Grits were severely undercooked several times(inedible). Biscuit gravy is meh, tastes like a mix or like the roux wasn’t cooked. Hollandaise tastes like it’s made from a cheap mix. We like this place, and like supporting a locally owned business. We’ll go again, and just skip the grits and hollandaise. :)

What a disappointment. We ordered of the lunch menu hamburger steak and open face turkey sandwich. The turkey was processed meat And not very tasty. Vegetables or frozen with butter drizzled on them. And my husband said his hamburger steak was just not good. On the upside service was great

A great place for comfort food. Portions are filling. Had the stuffed peppers which were on point and the mashed potato’s that were the best consistency and flavor of any place I’ve tried yet. Loved the pecan pie as well. Service is friendly as well as the price. A definite gem in this historic neighborhood. Highly recommended!
