Fifty Eighteen Breakfast & Lunch

Not at all what I expected. I should have taken the hint that only one customer was in the restaurant, but I decided to give it a shot. The place had a very strange odor, like foul body odor. The smell eventually subsided, and I was approached by the server. He handed me a menu and didn’t say anything. So I proceeded to order a water and the Latke Smash. This entrée is described as a potato pancake, deep fried and smashed in a sandwich with choice of bacon or sausage. What I actually received was scrambled egg, potatoes fried in a Cajun sauce and melted cheese between two pieces of bread. The water was served in styrofoam cups, as if it were a to go diner. Once finished, the server brought the bill, again without saying anything. He retrieved the bill very hastily a minute later, though I had not yet put my payment inside. My change was returned, and not so much as a «thank you» offered. Very disappointing experience!!! I think the people who have posted such positive reviews about this establishment actually went to a different place.

Really good food and customer service! And the bathroom was clean! That’s a plus for me lol. I got the western omelette it was amazing! The owner really takes a lot of pride in his establishment and isn’t afraid to come out and really talk to ppl. He’s such a sweet guy. He checked on us personally a few times and had really good conversation. I will definitely continue going here. Also they brew special teas and the one I tasted that day it was soooo good! It’s called the «Fifty Eighteen Tea». It was so good lol

The first time I ordered from here, I got the Jerk Chicken Sandwich and it was really really good. So, today I thought I would give them another try! I ordered the Black & Blue Burger b/​c I LOVE bluecheese crumbles on my burgers. How disappointing when I opened the foil my burger was wrapped in to find they put blue cheese SALAD DRESSING, not blue cheese crumbles on my burger. REALLY? I didn’t even eat it, I threw it out.

What a great breakfast! The Western Omelet was absolutely delicious, with finely diced fillings & beautifully caramelized onions. Came with a side of… I guess you would call them potato fritters with a sour cream dipping sauce. Bacon just the right combination of crispy & chewy. The chef/​man in charge gave me a delicious house brewed dragon fruit iced tea that was cold, yummy & refreshing. He was warm & friendly, and an excellent cook! He serves the full menu all day, and hosts a poker league there on Wednesday nights.

The 3 of us came here, about 12:30, for breakfast/​lunch. My husband had the Latke Smash breakfast. My daughter and I had burgers. Very good. Yummy flavored iced tea! Homemade. M mm mm mm good.

This place is awesome. I went for lunch and had the Puffy Shrimp Tacos and a Jazzy Palmer. Both were delicious, easily some of the best food I’ve had in Norfolk. Worth going out of your way for.
