First time here. Love the atmosphere and the people. The café was a little slow but definitely would come back for the good local food and beer selection.

I had a bad experience in this place. I ordered beef brisket and iced tea. Food is ok but iced tea is empty I told one of the guys not once not twice but 3 times, he said he’ll work on it 40 mins later and we’re done eating and tea still not made. I paid $ 1.79 and didn’t get my iced tea

This place is fantastic! The food is absolutely delicious and it’s my fiancée and I’s go to spot for Saturday and Sunday small brunch! If you haven’t been, you have got to at least try it out, but beware you’ll be hooked!

Get Fresh Café — A Hidden Gem I’m not a fan of the term«Hidden Gem» but if there’s a place that fits the description, the Get Fresh Café is deserving. I discovered this place via a Facebook post by Patrick Evans-Hylton. I’ve driven by the Five Points Community Farm Market on Church Street in Norfolk many times. Always been curious to stop in and now I had a really good reason. Tucked into one of the corners is the Get Fresh Café. I enjoyed my visit from the moment I stepped up to order. The guy behind the counter was fun and did a great job explaining the specials, drinks, etc. When I said I was there for the BBQ he quickly recommended the combo platter. I ordered the platter of brisket and pulled pork and got sides of slaw and sautéed cauliflower. I grabbed a Bruce Cost Jasmine Tea Ginger Ale to wash it down. I was told they’d ring a cow bell and call out my name when the food was ready. Neat. I paid and grabbed a seat at the counter. I enjoyed watching the staff in the open kitchen. My order arrived maybe 10 minutes after I sat down. Wow. A heaping helping of brisket and pulled pork with an equally large helping of cauliflower and slaw. A side plate of two sauces and seasoning was delivered as well. The brisket was very smokey, juicy, tender and well seasoned. The traditional«red» sauce with a hint of worcestershire was a nice complement to the rub and pecan smokiness. The pulled pork was okay. Didn’t have as much flavor or smoke. It did go very well with the mustard based sauce and the dry-rub seasoning helped punch it up a bit, too. The sautéed cauliflower was so fresh and very good. Nice crunch. I wasn’t as happy with the slaw. It was a bit bland for my taste. It was fresh, but needed some more salt or even some carrot to sweeten it up a bit. Maybe a finer dice. Again, all my personal preferences. The best part of my experience was getting a chance to chat with the owner. We talked barbeque and barbeque competitions and he even gave me some tips to keep brisket from seizing up. He also agreed the pulled pork was not his best effort and asked that I give him another chance to show his skills. I’ll happily be back to try again.

Took the family here for brunch. I had the brisket hash, it came with two over easy eggs on top. The brisket hash was so good that I wanted to lick the plate. The kids got mac and cheese and grilled cheese. It came with a lot of fresh fruit. They loved it. While grilled cheese and mac and cheese generally aren’t anything special you could taste that it was made with fresh ingredients. We will most certainly be returning.

It’s all been said before, but I’ll say it again, you can taste the fresh ingredients, and it is delicious. Bison burger: delicious. Side of potato pancake: amazeballs Brisket hash: tender and fresh and oh so good. Quality takes time, but worth the wait…

I asked my hubby to take me to the café for my birthday and wow was I disappointed before I even had a chance to order. One of the kitchen staff members spent more time cleaning her nose than thge amount of time she took to wash her hands which was pretty much turn the water on, wet her hands and grab a papertowel. She spent all of 10 seconds so called washing her hands. We left and went to Belmont House of Ribs.

Disclaimer: I don’t do many reviews, and when I do, I only review places I’d recommend for four or five stars. In VA Beach for a few days and wanted to try places that have been visited by the Triple D show on Food Network. It’s a farmers market with a café and well worth the stop. We didn’t have the open faced meatloaf(from the TV show) but it looked great. The food we DID have was excellent and worth the 15 – 20 minute wait. They told us everything is locally sourced and made to order. They go the extra step to make great food. The café is in an old warehouse with permanent vendors in the market. I also had an awesome cookie from the Wholly Rollers vendor(with real Reese’s chunks). It’s a must!

OBSESSED. I could’ve died happy after eating the sautéed veggies. My friend and I originally went just to check out the Five Points Community Market, but decided to eat at the Café after I remembered reading some awesome reviews about it. It was seriously one of the best decisions that I’ve made in awhile. I got the grilled cheese(can’t remember it’s exact name) and the sautéed veggies as my side. As I said before, the veggies were TODIE. Seriously, after I finished eating I went and got a «pint» of the veggies to go. They were that good. My grilled cheese was also good, but when(not if) I go back I’ll get a different sandwich! My friend got the BLT and it looked(and tasted according to her) amaze! There is a little bar area on the other side of the market where they were serving something called«kombucha.» I’d never heard of it and I’m still kind of confused on what it is(despite the bartender being super nice and explaining it) but I had to try it. I ended up going with the Mint Blue-Lip. It was SOGOOD. I can’t remember all of the ingredients but it definitely had blueberries and mint. It tasted like a piece of spearmint gum and I loved it! It’s not something that I could drink by the boatload but I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to go back and try all of the delicious fresh foods they offer.. . and load up on the sauteed veggies!

Wow! This place is awesome! Great for a super tasty, good for you meal! I had the salad with crab cake and a pomegranate ginger ale. yummy! My hubby had the pulled pork with cole slaw and curry potato salad with a rootbeer. I wish this place was open daily, I would have eaten there everyday for lunch while in Norfolk. If you are looking for a great, healthy meal Thurday-Sunday, get to Get Fresh Café!

Stopped in this morning for breakfast. We had been to the 5 Points Market several times but had never had a chance to eat there. My wife decided on the Challah French Toast with grits, and I had the Biscuits and Gravy. I can vouch for the biscuits, but she didn’t(wouldn’t) share her French Toast(I suppose you can take that as an endorsement) They both came with a side of a couple slices of apple and banana. I’m really not an apple guy, but I actually asked the guy at the counter which apples they used, because they were that darn tasty. We’ll have to come back and try some lunch next time.

I stopped here while I was in Norfolk and it was absolutely worth it. The food here uses fresh, local ingredients, which is a major plus. Places like this often charge a premium compared to other food establishments, but I found that the entrees here were reasonably priced. The food takes a bit longer to prepare compared to your faster food spots, but it is also made right in front of you, so that’s a major plus. Besides, since it is inside of the farmer’s market, you can walk around and talk to the local vendors to kill time. I got a special, teriyaki salmon with veggies, and it was delicious. Worth a stop, for sure.

Wow, what can I say. There is a reason that Guy F. came here! You can’t beat the fresh delicious food made from ingredients brought in from local farms and providers, and collected never more than 50ft from the kitchen!!! The bar-b-q is DELICIOUS!!! The most fun part is the sides. He takes his vegetable sides from whatever is interesting in the market that day. I had slaw, which was mild and crazy good with the very light dressing on it, no sugary mess dripping from every forkful. As an added bonus, I got to sample a cross between(I think I have this right) a melon and a radish. Something a local farmer had raised and it got showcased on the plate as an edible garnish! I know I will be back until I have blown the menu up!!!

I absolutely love places that use local ingredients and allows the fresh foods speak for themselves. We had heard about this place from Triple-D and wanted to try it while in Norfolk. The meatloaf was amazing and so rich and flavorful. It certainly was a bit heavy for lunch but we didn’t care. We cleaned our plates. We also got the butternut squash soup and it was so yummy and hearty on a cold day. I think now every time I visit Norfolk, I will be going there! I will also add, the farmer’s market, cookie shop and bread bakery provided us with some yummy treats for the way home. What a find for a foodie…

I admit it; I saw this on Diners Drive-ins and Dives and had to check it out. I was impressed as we walked to the entry and there were raised beds with veggies and herbs growing right outside the front door. These are used in the foods they prepare. It was mostly sandwiches and they were tasty but not as good as Guy made them seem. Also inside the store were venders selling bakery and farm products. It’s kind of off the beaten path if you don’t know your way around downtown Norfolk. Definitely worth the trip if you are in the area.

I have been driving past this place for awhile now, meaning to stop, but I was slow. I came for takeout, and while it was rather empty at 3 on Saturday, they were so friendly. Not the usual small talk, but just really great people, in the café and the whole market. And it was pretty fast. There is seating too, but for me, it is perfect for a good quality, not expensive to go meal. I got 3 meals(total was $ 21), pork chop special(absolutely amazing!), the brat sandwich(incredible!) and the bbq pulled pork(good, but not fabulous). It was supposed to be for 3 of us, but we had a late comer. It was just enough for 4 of us to share(aka perfect to big portion size). With most meals you get a side too, the mac n cheese was delicious, as was the slaw. There are lots of little stands in the market, a good looking juice bar, a cookie lady, fresh meat, fresh cheeses, and of course veggies and fruits. I’m sure I am forgetting some, but they all looked good although I stuck just to my takeout. Moral of the story, it is PERFECT as takeout, for dinner at home or for a picnic or outdoor concert. I will be back for sure.

A cute spot inside the Farmers Market that uses ultra-fresh ingredients. I’ve been meaning to go for a while and finally made it there today. And now I will be back — often! I had the crabcake on top of a garden salad — delicious! The crab tasted fresh, and the salad had a variety of fresh veggies, including greens and radishes. My boyfriend had the grass-fed beef burger and raved about it. I stole a bite, and he was right — one of the best I’ve had in the area. The prices were great for our meals, but a little high(about $ 2 each) for our small bottled drinks. Not a five-star review for two reasons 1) the service. It was empty when we arrived, but still took a long time(7 – 10 minutes) for our orders to be taken. I asked the young woman(probably a teenager) what was in the green salad, and she laughed at my question and couldn’t really answer it. She said«lettuce, tomato, cucumber … I think» — and there were neither cucumbers nor tomatoes in the salad I ultimately ordered. 2) the length of time it took to place and receive our order when the place was nearly empty. And one quirky thing: Everything was touted as fresh, and Five Points, the market where the café is housed, prides itself on local, local, local and a small, independent business mindset. Imagine my surprise, then, when I saw a kitchen worker making salad dressing from a large balsamic vinegar bottle from CostCo. Yep, the very one in my home that I got from the wholesaler. Didn’t seem to fit in the spirit of the place. But still, the dressing was pretty dang good!

Consistent food locally sourced right from 5 Points Farm Market. Always good to know where your food comes from! Child/family friendly, great for dinner takeout or casual weekend lunch. Some items change seasonally.
