The best wings in the area. Hot are the best. Also, happy hour prices can’t be beat. Parking can be challenging, but there is parking behind the church across the street.

Be careful here guys. I ordered the tostada shrimp and the shrimp was expired, tasted like ammonia. I was so grossed out. When I told the waitress she barely cared at all. I don’t know if they r short on cooks but that’s unacceptable

I ate here tonight and was very pleased. I loved the atmosphere. Very laid back«groovy» vibe. I definitely felt like I was at the beach. I had an oyster basket and fried grouper and it was delicious. A + customer service too.

You can tell the locals love it. Small and comfy and very busy Ina Thursday night. Most of us was disappointed that they don’t serve calabash shrimp but we were so hungry an improvise was in effect. I had the voodoo wings(4 stars) and the psychedelic Portabella mushroom with crab meat. OMG!!!(5 stars).

This was the third time I ate there and I must say it was the worst the owner is very rude what do I mean had a Cesar salad and it was warm the croutons were hard as a rock I let the server know quietly she might want to let someone know and low and behold it was the owner she told he proceeded to grab a critic out of the container with his bear hand and pop it in is mouth only to declare that it wasn’t stale well I have been a cook for over 40 years and I know what stale is then when the meals got out my partners fries were limp no flavor and my dish did not come the way I had it the last times. The owner needs to remember the Costner is always right I was not asking for any thing just wanted to let the cooks to check so they would not get a complaint that resulted in a broken tooth

If you love yourself, treat yourself to the voodoo wings at Captain Groovy’s. You will thank me. Wonderful happy hour. Great kitchen. Fantastic staff. Have the Voodoo Wings. They are the best in the world. According to me of course. But I have traveled the world and eat wings on a regular basis. These are the best I have ever had.

This place never disappoints! I recommend the steamed clams appetizer, so delish. The parking is pretty horrible so don’t be surprised with tight parking. Still worth it all the same.

The Gwynn island oyster sandwich was really good. The slaw was ok. It’s has an Asian twist to it which I wasn’t crazy about but not bad. We also got the karma salmon cake that was good too but lacked seasoning. Outstanding customer service The Nola Bread pudding was the truth! Would def go there again

Tried this place for the first time today. Had pretty good prices on all foods. Today’s special was a fried oyster basket with fries for $ 7. The oysters were pretty big and tasty. My only complaint is that both the oysters and fries were still too greasy … Like they weren’t drained well after coming from the fryer. My kid’s fried shrimp were amazing though.

I’ve been here several times over the past few years and I have never had a bad experience. Came in for brunch and we started with the bucket of clams appetizer. This was amazing, probably the best broth I have ever had. We ordered a few bloody marys, I tried both the normal and the spicy. They make their jalapeños infused vodka in house. Both were equally good, although only the regular bloody Mary was on the drink special. I ordered the Popeye frittata, which was really good and much bigger than I thought. Only downside was the frittata was a bit too light on the feta. Our waitress was very attentive, I can’t wait to check out some of thier specials.

Came here for lunch with a couple of friends that flew into Little Creek. I have driven by this place a 100 times and I think I remember when it used to be a 7 – 11. Not sure about that historical note though. The place doesn’t look like much from the front and when you walk in it is an open air porch style but they had clear vinyl enclosures up. We were seated quickly and I noticed a few long tables set up for a large party. I was glad we ordered because there was a quick influx of Navy folks coming in for an event. We were seated in a corner and I was struck how hot is got on that porch on a mild winter day. I was burning up in my jacket. Our food came quickly. I noticed that the prices weren’t cheap and most entrée’s were over $ 10. I ordered a large salad and another order the Cuban Panini. While sitting at the table we picked up the ketchup bottle and there was a bunch of grossness at the bottom of the pan holding all the condiments. It was gross and we cleaned it up. That was the only bad part of the place. The food was great. No one complained about anything and the portions were solid. There was no wait and the waitress kept checking on us and filling up our water. I didn’t have the opportunity to check the bathrooms or the rest of the building but I could imagine that in the spring, the porch would be a great place for happy hour. We did notice that they had a great happy hour deals but all of us were heading back to work. Bottom line is that this seems like a good place for a large group luncheon or maybe a happy hour liquid lunch.

My best friend and I went here on a sunday night, hungry for seafood. Boy were we blown away! This place is better than anywhere in NYC, and trust me I’ve been everywhere for fish in NYC. We ordered 2 dozen oysters, crabby mac, and calamari to start. The oysters were not shucked perfectly, but they made up for it by being incredibly fresh. The calamari and crabby mac were out of this world. The calamari was breaded perfectly and the crabby mac had huge chunks of crab meat. We ordered a tuna poke for a second course. Again, terrific. The tuna was the freshest tuna I have ever eaten. Period. The roe garnish was very fresh and popped in my mouth. For our third course we ordered sesame crusted tuna, blackened rockfish(striped bass), and hush puppies. Each dish was more amazing than the last. The hush puppies were very lighly fried and were not greasy and heavy. The brocolli that came with my rockfish was not covered in butter. The rockfish was blackened in old bay and played all the right notes on my tounge. Eating here was a sublime experience as far as restaurants go. The service was absolutely superb. The food was excellent. The prices were reasonable. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.

Captain Groovys. Groovy name, groovy logo. Chill little place with ‘outdoor’ seating. I drive this place everyday on my way to work and I always wondered if it was any good. Well, I finally decided to stop in. I can say, I was not disappointed. Each day of the week has it own special. I can’t remember what each one is but you can see online I believe. They also have a weekly special menu. But the best part is happy hour. Half price oysters by the dozen, as well as buffalo wings. The oysters are fresh and the wings are hot. I got the black and blue burger cooked medium rare. Itbwas perfect. So juicy and on the English muffin which was interesting. The fries were perfect too. Soft on the inside crispy on the outside without being burned. I’ll be returning eventually when my wallet cools down because with how delicious it was we ordered lots of food. But it is average priced for burgers and appetizers and salads. Entrees run a bit higher but hey, here Its worth it.

Why has it been so long since I’ve come here? It was my late husband’s favorite place. We came at least twice a week. I was happy to find many of the same servers, who remembered & welcomed me as did Sandy the co-owner. It was a beautiful day to sit in the enclosed, covered outside area with the overhead fans. No heat, no humidity, no bugs. I ordered the fried shrimp, which I had never tried. I always chose a more exotic fare. It was perfect, served with Asian Cole Slaw & Fries. I will feel guilty in the morning, but I finished all the fries. This is s terrific locals place. You can’t go wrong, no matter what you order. I’m glad to be back!!!

I’ve been here a few times and it’s always been good. My favorite are the wings! Goodness. it’s so good! Crazy how this place specializes in seafood but the wings are my favorite. The few times I’ve been here I always had to wait for at least 30 mins to be seated and wait forever for my food. I’ve had way better seafood dishes than the ones I’ve gotten here. Hubby’s fish was a little cold by the time it arrived at our table. And my food was salty– too much old bay going on in my plate. Anyways, the atmosphere is cool and you can see the cook preparing your food.

I’m back! I used to come here a lot several years ago for Happy Hour. The food(IMO) started declining. In the past year, I’ve been back a couple of times and wow… The entrees I’ve tried have been impressive! The psychedelic mushroom is even made different but, much better! My last visit, I was set on fried oysters on a Caesar Salad. I saw a couple of my friends post pics so, I had to try. The fried oysters were the best I have ever had!!! They were plump, seasoned, fried perfect, & melted in my mouth!!! I normally eat raw but, if I want fried… this is the spot! Bartender, Kelly, was patient and accommodating throughout this visit. I wasn’t able to answer her when she’d inquire how I was doing. I was having private moments with the succulent oysters! She also mentioned an oyster special on Saturdays I have yet to try! Will have to go back! Thumbs up CG’s!

After discovering that the She Crab Soup Festival this weekend was sold out, my friends and I were disappointed; however, everything happens for a reason because we discovered this spectacular restaurant after typing in she crab soup into Unilocal. After we were seated we were handed menus and our waitress was very friendly. My friends both got cups of she crab soup and they said it was delicious; better than what they had at other restaurants. For my main course I got the Tahitian tuna steak burger(well done) and a side of «crabbie mac & cheese». My friends both got the fried oyster sandwich with a side of fries. My meal was delicious, the macaroni and cheese was EVERYTHING, I seriously was scraping from the bottom of the bowl. I wish I could have taken a pan of it home with me. The tuna steak burger was good as well, and the rémoulade was oh-my-god on top of it. I was definitely a fan of my meal. My friends said their meals were delicious as well. The only drawback to my experience was my cocktail. I got the strawberry lemonade, and personally for me it didn’t have enough flavor to it. It tasted like regular vodka with a couple drops of lemon juice. Definitely not worth $ 9 in my opinion. Despite this, between the excellent food and the friendly service I would definitely recommend this place, just beware of the cocktails.

Sehr empfehlenswert!
