Ordered take out just because nothing else appealing was open at 1am lol«late nite snacker» and order fried gulf shrimp and fries. I expected it to be somewhat better than your regular chain food bars but too my surprise it was great! Shrimp were freshly fried and they were flavored well… exceptional I might add. A great place to eat late night for me for take out’ I love seafood and the atmosphere was a lil nice also very neighborhood friendly and quiet jus my type of getaways lol

Food is OK. Had a grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Nothing special, better then some places similar to this, But it is still barfood. One thing I hate and the reason why I won’t return they allow smoking at all hours inside the derby. You cannot get away from the cigarette smoke.

I decided to give the Derby a try. I walk in on a Wednesday evening and it was quiet. I was greeted with a Hello. I took a mini tour and sat down at a booth with a sticky table. I sat for about 2 minutes to never get recognized again. I watched other patrons sit at the bar and they were immediately served. Maybe I was not recognized because I am not one of their regulars. Even the cook looked bored in the back. Oh well, their lost.

I loved Joy and Christie! When I called today to check on trivia night and they were very helpful on the phone with directions and information. Once we arrived they gave us the lay of the land, chatted and could not have been more helpful and attentive. The food is def bar food but my husband had a French dip that was pretty good too! The regulars could not have been more nice and helped us understand how the trivia game worked and even shared their birthday cake with us! We enjoyed the pool table and the darts while the trivia Emcee could not have been more fun! Even though I agree in the«dive bar» descriptions, if you like a dive bar this is a great one!

Place has good food with a new cook and Ben is a great bartender. Try the Philly cheesesteak.

this place is a freaking joke. I live right across the street so this is not based off of one experience. Everytime I go in there, there is always someone trying to sell me some type of drug and the people there are very sketchy. They do last call when we they want to. There hours of operations cleary state on the door that they close at 2am so I can understand a last call on spirits to be at the least 1:45am or even at 1:30am. I have been there and was able to make a drink order at 1:45 and then there was one night when I got out of my car ten minutes after 1am and the bartender walked to the door and locked the door in my face. I always tip well and never have more than one or two drinks. This place will never get any of my money ever again. If you close at 2am, dont lock the door at 1:10am. Thats false advertisement.

Do not waste your time unless you like smoky places.

It’s true — this is a total dive bar. But that’s not a bad thing! If you want to find a down-to-earth, fun place to get a drink and a sandwich after work, this gets the job done. The best part was our lovely, funny, and attentive waitress, Rachel! She gave great recommendations on food and drinks. We had a good time and would definitely go back! Try a Malibu bucket — delicious! The fajita nachos are also good. The place is smoky and it’s definitely no-frills, but if you accept it for what it is, you’ll enjoy yourself.

Great service. But sorry, when I go to the restroom and watch the general manager not wash her hands and go straight into the kitchen, I’m done! Gross.

This is a dive bar and a half! Everything is old, everyone is old(except me, of course), and it is probably the smokiest bar I have been in the last 10 years. Definitely don’t shower before you come here, because you are going to need to shower again right when you get home. Trivia on Friday nights, and good bar food. Cheap drinks and fast service.

This place is a candidate for the Bar Rescue show. If you want a smoke filled dive bar then you might be happy. Service: One server was attentive and pleasant. The other was, well, inconvenienced. Food: The lemon pepper wings were the worst. First, the kitchen in this bar is not exactly stressed. People were more focused on drinking, smoking, and lotto. There appears to be no takeout orders, another bad sign. However an order of wings took 25 minutes. The wings were dry/overlooked, and the ‘lemon pepper’ tasted like the ‘cook’ just tossed them in a bowl of salt. There are many better options for wings and a beer. Bottom line — if you want to smoke and drink then ok. Otherwise, it didn’t work for me.

WARNING — Change in management! The Derby used to be one of my favorite hangouts. When I worked in Norcross, I went here with co-workers at least once a week for lunch or happy hour. I stopped by today and — wow — what a change. The first thing I noticed is that the place was nearly empty — there were three guys on the far side of the bar drinking beer, maybe one person at a table. And this was at 12:30 on a weekday, when the place used to be packed with a lunch crowd. I sat the bar and ordered a club sandwich and fries. After 20 minutes I hadn’t received my order even though no one else in the place appeared to have ordered food. I looked around for the bartender or a waitress, but nobody was in sight. Another 10 minutes went by when the bartender came out with something charred black on a plate. She told me my fries would take a little longer and asked«is this too burnt for you?» I said yes, there was no way I could eat that. She said«I thought so, I’ll get you another one». Okay, it took a half hour to get a burnt club sandwich, the fries weren’t even ready when the sandwich was, and I was supposed to wait for another try? And how do you burn a club sandwich, anyway? By this time I had to leave and get back to work but to the bartender’s credit, she convinced me to wait for the sandwich to be redone and served it to me as a take-out — and no charge for the meal. I was told that management recently changed and that’s really disappointing. «The Derb» used to have some of the best burgers in town, a great club sandwich, awesome homemade chips with blue cheese, and terrific lunch specials like meatloaf or bbq ribs. Now they’re taking a half hour to serve charred clubs that are missing the sides. Such a shame to have lost another good pub. And the fact that the«lunch crowd» is now three guys drinking beer and playing the lotto tells me that this wasn’t just a single bad day that they were having.

The dirty derb! Place is what it is. And if you want a smoky bar with regulars and no attitude this is the place for you.

This is definitely my watering hole. I come here to watch football, drink, or eat their wings that are on special for happy hour(and all day monday). It’s the kind of place that if you go more than once, chances are they will remember you. The folks that come here are all really nice and are all regulars. It took me no time at all to meet people. If you’re looking for a place to hang out, eat or just party it’s a good place. Classic dive, and if you don’t like or are allergic to smoke… well you might want to rethink it because they allow smoking. Besides that, great place to hang out and let loose.

Went to the Suwanee site and had wings. LARGE and cooked to order. Lemon Pepper zesty, Medium sauce good. Good $ to food ratio. Bar totally enclosed and think there is smoking in there. Sports themed restaurant with lots of tiny tv’s. Patio on a beautiful day wasn’t set up or offered for seating.

Sometimes you just feel like having a cold beer and couple cigarettes after a long day at work… wait! I don’t usually drink and I don’t smoke! BUT if you do, this is the place to go. It is a typical your neighborhood bar, with TVs all around playing sports and news, plus full bar and pool tables in the other room. I always love Derby’s chicken wings(Cajun flavor) and I especially love their Trivia Night. So much fun! The service attitude varies from server to server, but generally speaking it is ok, not great, again, it all depends on how«she» feels that day.(she = the female server) I know for fact that they have happy hour and monthly special for food and drinks. I have to keep y’all update next time I am there. I like Derby’s food and very glad to know that they are still in business during this financial turmoil. BUTPLEASENOTE: if you can’t stand cigarette smell, or you have asthma, please do not go there b/c the the smell is extremely pungent and can make you sick or/and dizzy! Now I am hungry for Derby’s Cajun Wings… :D
