I came here with three other people. We tried their burgers and one person had a pastrami sandwich. Food was just okay. Not bad but not great either. Just a small menu, like a typical burger joint. Its not a true restaurant like the other Jockos. More like a fast food joint. Their burger was comparable to a BK Whopper in taste and size. Fries were thin, almost like shoestring fries, which aren’t really my thing.

In my opinion as a Food Critic I want to dispel some of the uneducated, fast food level eating of all the unsophisticated palette of those who have compared Little Jocko’s to corporate fast food. The Steak sandwich was delightful, and one may want to add some mustard or steak sauce. The Pastrami sandwich was also prepared well, for a six $ sandwich it was awesome. The fries were quite tasty. However I would ask for mine to be crispier. As for the bread LJ’s uses, it is not about the bread it is about the meat, and they use a local bakery, as do many Central Coast restaurants. I look forward to my next visit. I have added pictures of today’s meal

Delicious. Friendly, fast service. My only complaint is that the cheeseburger and steak sandwich meats are VERY thin. Still tasty, though.

Went for dinner last night. Food was delicious. We had Fried Chicken and Steak Salad. Jocko Beans great! Blake was charming and professional. Being from out of town he gave us some history on Little Jocko’s. We’ll tell all our friends and families. We’ll be back next trip!

Great customer service. Ordered burger and fries. Burger patty was skimpy, not much Flavor.

Great alternative to Jocko’s big steak house. If you are hungry for a burger, fries, milkshakes or other various quick meals this is a great place. The pastrami sandwich is a must have!

My first time at this place was ‘ok’. I hope that a future visit will change that. First off, the service and speed was good, as was the friendliness of the staff. They seemed to be competent and sure. When the sides are better than the featured dish, there may be something wrong. The fries, though run of the mill fast food-type fries, were ok. I’ve had worse. The onion rings were very good. The ‘big cheese burger’, although cooked well and dressed well was only so-so, indicating that perhaps a better grade of patty should be purchased, considering the price of the burger, at near $ 5, not including extras. The bun was a major part of the complaint, as it seemed to be the same ort of extremely cheap bun used by Burger King or gas station delis. I will try this place at least twice more, on different days, at different times, before rendering ‘final judgement’. Until that time…

Cannot figure out why they have a 3 star rating because I love this place. Consistently delicious burgers, onion rings are fabulous and if you’re in the mood you can’t go wrong with a chocolate shake. This is definitely the only burger place to bother with in Nipomo.

We left with full bellies, but we won’t be returning. It was average food with a big price tag.

Pretty average burger joint. Prices are way too high for what you get! I was in the mood for onion rings. Payed $ 3 for some rings and received just that… SOME! We got six rings total! Not sorth 3 bucks! I had the double cheeseburger for over $ 6, and it tasted like a Jack in the Box burger. Nothing special. My wife had the patty melt. Again, average at best. My kids did enjoy the corn dogs and frys(they are 2 and 4 years old). My chocolate malt was good, but again, average. Service was good. The gentleman behind the counter was pleasant and helpful. If you are looking for a good burger, drive down the road to In-N-Out. I’d much rather spend my hard earned money on something 1000% better than this place. It’s safe to say we will not come back. It’s doesn’t hold up the, «Jocko’s» name well. Go to the real Jocko’s on the other side of the highway! That place is really good!

Been going to Little Jocko’s since I was a kid(’76 or so) Always a good hole-in-the-wall burger joint. Expecting some perfect hipster burger joint? Not the place for you. You want a good, old school bit of the central coast? Go here. Get the Big cheese burger, fries and onion rings. And yes, the paper towel dispensers are really old school, but work great.

Not even a good burger joint. My wife got the cheese burger and the meat patty was about 2 inches smaller than the bun. And it was about 1⁄5 inch thick. Honestly the tomato slice was thicker. I had the Pastrami. I love pastrami. And this one was just okay. In addition it took about 10 minutes to get out food. There were only three other tables with people. We won’t be back.

This is fast food. When rating a fast food restaurant one must consider a few things… Dine in experience, taste, service and overall menu, finally price. Little Jockos get 4 because dine in is just so so. Tacos, burgers, fries, shakes, it’s all yummy. The beans are the best and we always stop when in town to get them. They have been around a long time for a reason. They know beans!!! I hope you will try them, it’s worth the stop. Yummy!!!

Coming back after moving away I was surprised to find Little Jockos still open. A big cheese burger along with a pineapple milk shake definitely hit the spot! The food is just amazing it brings me back to my special place. Definitely a comfort food!! Congrats Lil Jockos for staying open throughout the years you hold a special place in many of the locals hearts!

I have lived in Nipomo for over 10 years and finally decided to go to Little Jocko’s. I was pretty excited for a juicy hamburger and took the whole family along. 40 minutes later we got our food. My hamburger was blackened, crisp and dry. Needless to say it was tasteless. Mine wasn’t the only blackened frisbee served, 4 of the 5 burgers we got would have made better throwing discs than food. Will never go back.

It’s a short-order burger joint. Not the best, not the worst. See the photos I posted — they tell the real story. My main issues were that the fries were lukewarm/cold, the burger was flaccid, and the«chili» was actually«baked beans.» They were well-staffed w/friendly, attentive teens. They’re sporting the famous Jocko’s beef reputation. There’s no excuse for anything but an excellent burger. And yes, I’d pay more for better quality. They have little competition in the area and so they could be the go-to excellent burger joint. But they’re not. My kid did enjoy her burger and said, «Now THAT’S what school food should taste like!» So I guess that’s a recommendation… BTW, the difference between the regular burger and the«big» burger is that the regular burger is 1⁄8 pound and the big burger is ¼ pound. This is before grilling and they must use a very high fat content because the end result is very small and flat. There you have it. I agree w/Mark W — I think this was comparable to Carls, Jr.
