As we walked in I was happy to see the cute soda shop décor. I had been here 6 years ago for ice cream and though if take the kids somewhere fun for my Mother’s Day dinner. The lady came from the back and asked«can I help you with something?» Um yes, maybe menus? ” are you going to eat?“ Really? Not a smile, not a have a seat, can I offer you a drink… Very cold attitude. I thought well maybe earlier it was busy and she’s tired… Unlike how it was just at this time. So we ordered basic stuff thinking a panini and hot dogs couldn’t be messed up. Oh they can. Microwaved hot dogs and my son got an easy mac. My panini was actually gross. Turkey and bread was actually done wrong. The Potato salad was good but may have come from a grocery store deli. We didn’t want to chance microwaved ice cream so we went to Dairy Queen to play it safe. Why open a diner if you don’t enjoy people or cooking???

It was a bit empty when we came in, but the staff was super friendly and a root beer slushy Really hit the spot! The food was amazing and priced cheaply! We are definitely coming here again!

Went strictly for breakfast, which wasn’t too impressive. Nice décor, tasty, and pretty good value, but the plates were small and not fully satisfying. Additionally, the waitress was nice but seemed quite distant. The shakes looked good, but I wouldn’t recommend the Soda Shop for breakfast.

Their ice cream floats are to die for! I usually get the coke float, but they make their own root beer flavoring so I know people like trying that as well.

I wish I could give it 0 stars. We waited 40 minutes for our food, which was ridiculous enough. The popcorn was stale. My husband’s «grilled cheese» was slightly warm bread with three completely unmelted cheese slices. My 2-year-old daughter’s pizza was so terrible, she didn’t recognize it as pizza. Unacceptable. The girl fell all over herself with apologies, but made no real move to correct any of this. I can’t believe they had the nerve to charge us full price. Oh well, I consider it a lesson learned and will stay away from now on.

Tasty old fashioned ice cream treats(malted milk shakes and chocolate ice cream soda). We also ordered sandwiches, but they weren’t anything special. They were served in old lunch boxes which was kinda cute. The service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return for the ice cream treats and atmosphere.

This was our first visit. We loved it. A lot of the food is made from scratch. You get the metal tin with your shake. I would given it a 5 if the burgers were not from from frozen patties and i saw another customer get a drink are in a styrofoam cups, which I detest as they are Non biodegradable.

We discovered this place on our last run up to Niles. It’s sort of like time travel when you walk inside. Sodas are made the old fashioned way, with a squirt of syrup and carbonated water from the original 1940s soda machines. The owner is very friendly and we had a nice chat with her as we enjoyed our root beer floats. If you are looking for a real old-fashioned soda shop/ice cream parlor, this is it!
