Stopped here for lunch during the Niles Ice Festival. Had a very tasty bacon and blue cheese burger. All burgers came with kettle chips and a delicious pasta salad. Another at our table ordered the Grilled cheese and tomato«knife and fork» sandwich. It was delicious as well. Service was good, and overall very happy to have discovered this little restaurant. My only issue was the room was pretty cold(this was January). Many other patrons I noticed were wearing their coats(we did sit as far away from the door). I would have a bit more comfortable if the room temperature was a bit warmer.

I’ve eaten at Olfactory Hue many times. Always with great service. I really like how the menu changes with updates on the chefs choices. The freshness of the food is always a great thing compared to most restaurants around, especially those who favor opening a can or taking pre-made freezer products out of a box. The chef always favors local ingredients when available. I would recommend it to anyone, and I do.

Every time we come to town to visit Dad… we want to come here for a fabulous lunch. Everything I’ve had is so good. And what a neat environment. I remember the old Thayer jewelry store. I’m so glad you kept the beautiful wood cases and shelves.

NONEVEREVER again. I was so looking forward to what was reviewed as a good food place. That excitement turned from«well, they are understaffed» to «meh» to «wothehell» to p.o.‘d. There was only one server. She wasn’t able to do anything even a busy server can do. She forgot my diet coke. After 5 minutes, I was able to catch her attention once again and remind her once again about the diet coke. When finally brought, it was flat, no carbonation. I left it on the other side of the table so it would be noticed as she passed by. NO she didn’t. I waved, finally caught her sight(remember I have been waiting while she goes by our table to other tables) explained about the flat coke, asked for coffee as substitute. As to our meals: .the croissant was solid-over toasted such that it crumbled with each bite. Chicken salad was acceptable– no special flavour and chips were made by a food service. Small bit of macaroni at side of plate tasted on the edge of turning &/or had too much mayo. Cajun club was again on a «meh?» bread, and not seasoned as stated, lacking in flavour but edible. AT this point we were thinking«well, maybe this is a bad day. We might give it a second chance». Flaggged down waitress after 5 minutes, REminded her of missing coffee. When it was brought to table, my black coffee was the same temperature as my coke… cold. not iced coffee, just leftover unheatedcoffee. Put coffee again to edge of table. I hoped that she would NOW notice. Nope. Now I am perturbed, I just wanted a quiet tasty lunch. Now becoming troubled by inept service and pissy poor coke and pissy coffee, not willing to trust even their water. Getting to point where we will not try this place again.(we always give at least three chances). We «finished» our meals. Cook/owner stopped by and asked if we liked our meal. I said it was o.k., but the coke was flat, the coffee cold. She smilingly said«well then what would you like instead?» I stated we were at end of meal so nothing! Waitress brought bill… and I was charged for the drinks. Go figure. They have been in business long enough to be able to smoothly deal with all of these plus. Not going back.

Stopped for a Thursday might dinner. My daughter had a Guinness pie which was great but without a pastry crust. Service was wonderful place darling. For long time locals, it was the old Thayer’s jewelry store. Still had the great old display cases along the wall. Stop by. I’ll be returning!

Visited this restaurant for the first time today. The menu offered a wonderful variety of fresh choices. I selected the Strawberry Fields salad with chicken, which was tasty but small. The chicken was shredded and there was not much of it. Also, there were only a few crumbles of the goat cheese. Unfortunately, I was still hungry after the $ 8+ salad. To be successful, I believe this restaurant must offer larger portions or reduce their prices. I want to support local business but I don’t think I will be back.

This place continues to amaze. The grilled cheese and tomato bisque I had for lunch was just perfect for a rainy day like today. You can tell that the food at Olfactory is made with lots of love. Healthy, nourishing and delicious! Will go back again and again. The next supper club looks awesome too. I’ve never been to one but I think I’ll try it.

I really want to like this place(the owner is very sweet) but every time I get food there it is disappointing. I don’t even know where to start. The waitresses who work there are not very attentive, and at my most recent visit our server actually brought me the wrong order. The fried potatoes were so over-cooked, they were like rocks. The scone would have been good but it was right out of the refrigerator and ice cold. I’m not saying every scone has to be fresh from the oven, but maybe pop them in a warmer? The eggs just weren’t good, the cheese was a greasy, rubbery mass on top. I think perhaps the food was prepared ahead and then left overnight. Such a bummer, I want to like this place, but I can’t. Thank you so much for using locally sourced food. I really hope things improve. Maybe the owner is trying to do too many things at once? Focus on doing one thing really well, and I think this place has the potential to be the best!

One of the best places in Michiana. Locally sourced food, great service and ambience are just a few of the many positive things they have to offer. The chef really knows her stuff and there is always something new to try. Do yourself a favor and get some, you will not be disappointed!!!

We had brunch today and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I had the Chilaquiles which was very good and my wife had the burger on a pretzel bun. She also liked it. We had the blueberry lemon cheesecake which was excellent and a very generous portion.

A very nice little café in downtown Niles. We had a late lunch, with great burgers and wraps. Owner operated and with locally sourced ingredients, this place was once a jewelry shop. A gem!

Went here because the Unilocal reviews were so good. It was great. Wife had Chilaquilas and I had the farmhouse hamburger. Both were really good. Had blueberry lemon cheesecake for desert. It was also very good. I put a copy of the menu on, the description of the meals are on the menu. Meals are very reasonably priced, the Resturant was clean and we had great service.

What a great find! Nine of us from a bus trip enjoyed lunch here today, and as far as I know, everyone was very pleased. Our group enjoyed the green eggs and ham, fritatta lorraine, spinach quesadilla, and I loved the tomato bisque and chicken salad on a croissant. The home-made potato chips with that were outstanding, and my friend raved about the home-made salsa with the quesadilla. Fresh ingredients, home-made food. What else can I say? We also all got a complementary house salad with a very nice poppy seed dressing. The owner was super-nice, in a bind because a waiter didn’t show up, but she handled it VERY well, and kudoos to her! You can not leave without tasting the lemon-blueberry cheesecake… yes, die for. We will be back!

Local chef Daysha Amster expanded her catering business and recently opened Olfactory Hue Bistro(named after a Phish song) in downtown Niles, MI. We had been talking about trying it for a while and finally made it for an early lunch one Friday. The place is cute although the décor didn’t do much for me; however, the food more than makes up for it. The menu is relatively small, but there are typically daily specials. The chef believes in local, organic, sustainable food. My fiancé ordered the open face steak sandwich with sauteed mushrooms and onions. He loved it although he didn’t care too much for the slaw on the side(which I loved). I ordered the croque monsier which was perfectly done with ham, cheese and bechamel. Also served with the slaw, which was light with a very unique flavor. We look forward to making it back soon!
