Super bummed that this location closed. The subs were delicious. The bread was top-notch, as were the meats and cheeses. I am, however, not surprised at the fate of this place. It somehow managed to attract the skeeziest of individuals — on more than one occasion there was a weirdo or two in here who hadn’t purchased anything and were just sort of chilling up by the counter. It was definitely a deterrent. The manager wasn’t very friendly, also, and they seemed to close before their posted hours were over — once or twice I’d find the door locked with the«OPEN» sign still illuminated, before their posted closing time of 9pm. I walked in at 8pm one night only to have a chorus of «we’re closed» directed at me. Delicious sandwiches(which it why it gets 3 stars, because let’s be honest people, you’re not here for the ambiance), poor everything else. Good to know they’re a chain and I can go elsewhere for my turkey ranch fix.

They bring the sandwiches to you and the customer service is great. The sandwiches are a work of art! Although A meal costs about $ 10, it really is on the finer end of the sandwich/sub making business. I highly recommend the ‘New York steamer’ for my pastrami lovers out there.

Terrible service. Terrible sandwiches. Only picked up once & will not attempt again. I walked in all employees were preoccupied watching a soccer game. I stood there then they noticed after about 2 minutes. I asked which sandwich was popular? The young kid replied back«They’re all good»(that narrowed it down). Then I picked & asked what sizes do they come in? Which he replied«same like they always have» which I replied… This is my first time here & I don’t know what that means… «Oh» he said. He continued on with rambling off sizes so fast I didn’t catch it… After all this my sandwich was«warm & soggy». I’d rather buy Subway.

4 stars for soft, chewy, and crunchy bread, quality of meat, friendliness of staff and selection. I got the Club Sub and it was delicious, it had turkey, ham and bacon. I will most definitely have this again. Price was ok, my meal was about $ 9. I also got the chili and that was ok too. I will be back because of their bread =)

I love how my sister loves right here. I didn’t even know this one existed. Kinda hard to get into but totally worth the hassle. I tried the steamer tonight, I might have a new favorite! They must all welcome you at every location? Not sure but kinda nice? I like it

I’m by no means a sub expert. But I’ve had the subways, Jimmy John’s, Jersey Mike’s, etc… recently I was at Hero’s in the city. This place blew away Hero’s. Probably the best sub I’ve had in Chicago. I had the steak and cheese. It was incredible. I saw the other reviews, and I didn’t have any issues with the guys working there. They were polite and friendly to me. I’ll be referring this place as well as come back.

I walked in there with my boyfriend to use the washroom real quick and as we were coming out both employees from behind the counter were looking at us all weird and asking us to buy something because we used their washroom. We didnt buy anything and they both were silent and kept looking at us. Will not come here ever again for even a sub.

The food was good as always. The immaturity behind the counter was what ruined this experience for me. It is not easy to spend 25 dollars on lunch, but this was a treat. I will not be going back. the manager came in from outside and walked past everyone, not saying«hello» when he usually does. We love the subs but for heaven sakes get your punk ass workers out and get decent workers. The workers make your business, if you have rude workers, most customers will not want to come back, especially if the food is just great and not fantastic.

I wish i gave this place –1 star Came to this location over the summer. My boyfriend and I were hungry so we decided to come to this location. We came in around 8:30pm and they close at 9pm. We came inside with one of the workers mopping the floor and giving us an unpleasant look and no greeting. This gentleman was an older guy and the kid that was behind the counter was preparing our sandwiches to go. The older worker was walking around cleaning up the place and was mumbling cuss words. I asked the kid who was preparing our food who the manager was for this place and behold it was that old guy who was cussing and had a pissed off face. Apparently we came in near closing time. Like are you kidding me!!! I was beyond pissed. Thank goodness my man didn’t hear him or this place would really been a fire house. As we were about to leave another couple came in 10 min before closing time and the manager kept on going with the foul language and rude looks. Never coming here again. Definitely not referring anybody to come to this location. I hope someone from Corporate is reading this and can teach this guy a few lessons of customer service.

Went there for my b-day. They give me a free-sub. When I waited, one of the workers(middle-age man) asked me why I came here to get a free B-day sub. He used F* words multiple times. He claimed that I gave him more work by doing B-day Freebie here. You call this customer service, using F* words on each sentences in front of a customer. Never come here again. The food is average and it was a bad experience. Maybe other workers are nice, but one bad sheep can cause your business. That is why their parking lot is usually empty.

There is a lot of competition in this little area, and this place hold out very well. The Meatball and the Hawaiian(limited availability) are my favorites! The coke machine is AWESOME!

This was our first Firehouse experience, which must have been evident to the employees who guided us through the menu patiently. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, particularly given that it was after 8:00 p.m. on a weeknight. I liked that the menu is organized by popularity(though I did order #12 of 13). For new patrons, it was nice to have that affirmation of what’s good. We were both happy with our sandwiches. I had the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket, which came topped with a nicely spiced barbecue sauce. The husband had the New York Steamer. We both made it a combo with chips a drink, and prices were reasonable. We’d definitely come back and try some other things on the menu, including the chili.

This has quickly become one of my kids favorite spots. They always get a hat, when they come here, and they love the coke machine. Every sub I have tried has been delicious, from the meatball, to the brisket, to the club on a sub. Will keep coming to try every single sub. The staff is also very nice.

They steam the meat and toast the buns… It’s okay. Hot subs are still not as good as cold cuts on a fresh crusty loaf of French bread. But their kiddie meals are the deal to get. At $ 3.89, they give you this 3 meatball saucy sub(this is okay hot) w/melted cheese, a drink, dessert, and fireman’s hat. That red plastic fireman’s hat is worth $ 2 right there and blows away the Burger King crown!

I live abroad, and the one thing I really miss is sandwiches. Aside from an Italian beef, I really love Potbelly’s, as far as chains go. Jimmy John’s is good too. Not really a big fan of Quizno’s. Subway, I can do with the right tweaking of ingredients. I’m only home for a week or two a year, so I usually hit up my mainstays. I’ve been driving by Firehouse Subs the past couple years but decided to give it a whirl. I’m glad I did. First thing though, I was meeting an old girl friend up for lunch and the ambience was a bit spartan. I mean, I get the whole«firehouse» and blue collar motif. It reminded me of Rammy’s Subs. Not that I’m big on décor, but that and… some other things… set my expectations pretty low. I was almost embarrassed that I’d picked that place for lunch. HOWEVER. I was really very, very pleasantly surprised! There’s a messy look and feel to the place, but delivered to my table I received an immaculately constructed sandwich. Commercial-level beauty. I was impressed. It wasn’t toasted a la Potbelly’s, but it came hot, and the bread was warm. There was a good balance of vegetables to meat to condiments. My friend’s salad looked pretty disappointing though. The nifty electronic soda dispenser was nice, but it sure made me feel like I was out of touch. I had no idea how to work it properly, much to my friend’s embarrassment. All in all, I’d definitely recommend it. It’s a nice change of pace from Potbelly’s. I don’t know how I’d rank it in comparison to Rammy’s or Jimmy John’s, but it’s in the mix. I think I might give it the slightest edge on Jimmy John’s if only because I like warm sandwiches, but man… Jimmy John’s does have some mighty fine fresh bread. If it means anything, I’m looking forward to going again!

I had AMAZiNG CUSTOMERSERVICE! I went in and ordered the steak sandwich. My friend ordered the italian… they were huge. The guys brought us our prepared subs, and when we were finshed cleaned it right up!
