Halfway decent Korean food. But not the friendliest staff. We ordered four dishes from here and two from the Chinese restaurant in the same food court. When we asked the man at Bob Sang Korean Kitchen for napkins, he gave us a hard time and told us to ask at the Chinese restaurant. While he did give us a few napkins, I expected better service for paying $ 44.46 for four meals. My fish soup looked and tasted nice, as spicy as I like, but it didn’t have enough fish. It only had one decent size piece of fish and the rest was tofu and cabbage. My sister’s yuk gae jang(spicy beef soup) was ok, well seasoned. The bul go gee(Korean marinated BBQ beef) was below average; tough and really rubbery, lacking flavor. I rarely don’t like meat, but I wasn’t a fan of this bul go gee. The bee bim bop(rice with mixed vegetables and beef) was average; it had a lot of vegetables but hardly any meat. Two meals came with seaweed soup, the bee bim bop and the bul go gee. Minus one star for the rude service and minus another star for being more expensive than the food is worth. But I appreciated that almost everything was seasoned well. It took longer than expected for a food court. Since it is a food court, it is relatively accessible. You might need to move some tables and chairs. The grocery store restroom is close to the food court and has a spacious accessible stall.

Pass. It’s sub par Korean food paired with rude service. They are stingy with napkins and do not even bother to ask them for extra bowls or spoons. Despite ordering a couple of dishes, we were given dirty looks and reluctantly given an extra bowl and spoon to FEEDOUR1 year old son. It’s happened more than once. I’ve mentioned their poor service, and was told not to eat there then. Done.

Yes! Casual, authentic, affordable, and good service. I love the naeng myun(cold noodles) in the summer and yuk gae jang(spicy beef soup) in the summer. I made a terrible mistake going to the place next door on a whim last time. I’ll never stray from Bob Sang again!

My husband and I were shopping at Assi Plaza and decided to grab some lunch. He got the Mul Naengmyun and I go the soondubu. The soondubu was not very flavorful and lacked some punch. The Mul Naengmyun was fine but had no meat and only came with half of a boiled egg. For a food court, this isn’t bad. It’s convenient and cheap. However, in this area, you can get much tastier Korean food for not that much more money.

Food — 3.5 stars, Service — 4 stars. I’m feeling generous today so when I mean 4-star service all I mean is the guy actually smiled at me when I gave my order and didn’t act like I was a nuisance the way some other Asian fast-food restaurants make you feel… He also took my credit card with no objections as our meal totaled a little over $ 20. My husband and I came to do some shopping at Assi last night and decided to eat at the food court. We went around and viewed all the offerings and decided upon Bob Sang. My husband always gets dol sot bibimbap(not very adventurous) and this was the only vendor that sold it. I got sundubu(also not very adventurous). The description said it was seafood soup. My sundubu had 1 clam, 1 shrimp in shell, 1 dried scallop, and 1 little mini shrimp. Luckily I don’t really like the frozen mixed seafood that is usually in these types of soups so I didn’t mind. The broth itself was very tasty and I liked all of the soft tofu in it. My husband said his bibimbap was okay, it’s very hard for him to say something is very good or very bad. We each got 2 banchan, kimchi and fish cake. Our go-to place for Korean food is San Soo Gab San where you get 12 – 16 banchans, it’s probably not far to compare a food-court type place to a real sit-down restaurant. Overall, Bob Sang was pretty good, and I definitely liked it better than Durebak inside H Mart.

I wish this place were closer to me. I’d be there at least weekly! As it is, I go maybe once a month, and because it’s so rare, I end up missing Sundubu so much that I order it every.single.time! So I still don’t know about the other dishes, but their sundubu(served with rice and two sides) is great. Spicy too. The service is also great(if you compare them to other typical Korean customer service, they’re out of this world!)

Ordered the oxtail stew for $ 10.99 and there were 3 pieces of oxtail in a broth with a few thin noodles and a lot of green onions. I thought paying $ 10.99 plus tax was a lot to pay for 3 pieces of oxtail.

This place is in the Assi plaza food court. The food court is a decent place for a quick, casual Asian comfort food meal. We tried the dolsot bibimbap from here($ 11.01 after taxes). The wife liked it better than I did, as it was heavy on the veggies, and light on the beef, though it did come with a starter of miso soup and kimchee. I had to look up what dolsot meant, but it’s a sizzling hot stone bowl, and that’s what it was served in, and the egg is supposedly cooked off the sides of the stone pot. Will try something else next time.

The sundubu was only fair. I’m not sure why others have commented that service was slow because I got mine in less than five minutes. By the way, you just have to love getting that boiling sundubu and stirring in the egg. In addition to the so-so taste of the food, a significant problem with this place is the fact that it is located within the Assi plaza which has a terrible and distracting smell of rotting seafood and produce.

I don’t know what song Bob sang, but them ladies back there can cook. I am fairly new to Korean food, I gotta say that sundubu here is wickedly good. Dolsot Bibimbap from here is one of my faves, but I do ask for an extra egg. I totally eat here all the time, that Bob –he’s like a dope dealer the way he looks at me when he sees me… dude watches me examine all the stall menus, but he gives me this«I know you’re a fiend for me» look. Bob gets me every time.

I come here for authentic Korean food. The medium spiced soups are excellent. I order dishes that is not bibimbop, or bulgogi. It’s a treat to come here. Portions are generous.

A solid Korean restaurant located in the food court at Assi supermarket. Make sure you get their entrée punch card. 10 dishes equal a free entrée. My favorites: 1. Bu-dae-gi-gae: If you like kimchi-gi-gae, you’ll love this dish. It’s full of spicy flavor, a good portion of meat(hot dog, Spam) and cellophane noodles. 2. Kalbi-tang: Flavorful beef broth with tender pieces of kalbi. Also had a generous portion of cellophane noodles and radish. Garnished with thin slices of egg. Tried, but not a fan: 1. Soon-tu-bu-gi-gae It’s a decent dish, but lacks that spicy kick soon-tu-bu should have. It’s not as flavorful as the other dishes mentioned above. Can I make a suggestion to all of those restaurants in the food court? Have a kids menu! Kid-sized portions and kid-friendly entrees. We eat there several times a month and there are many families with small children(including us) eating at the food court. This would give a restaurant a definite edge over the others. INSUMMARY: You won’t be disappointed in their bu-dae-gi-gae and kalbi-tang.

Not quick, but definitely convenient, and quite tasty. This is one of the kiosk type joints that you see inside giant Asian supermarkets like Super H Mart. This particular one is located inside the Assi Plaza supermarket in Niles. Obviously, atmosphere is nil, and you won’t have some of the amenities you might see at a regular Korean restaurant, like a grill in the middle of your table. But the food was good — we ordered the dolsot bibimbap(a kiosk with dolsot!) with beef, and a plate of bulgogi. The bibimbap can be ordered with squid instead. After waiting for a while(probably they had to heat up the stone bowl), the order was brought out to our table. You could hear the sizzling of the rice against the stone bowl — I love the crispy bits. The beef wasn’t too flavorful, but after adding a bit of sauce, and mixing the vegetables in, it was just fine. The bulgogi was marinated well, and cooked with sprouts, peppers, and onions. It came with a small bowl of white rice. We decided to add the bulgogi to the bibimbap(that’s what I usually do anyway) after the white rice ran out. Both dishes came with small dishes of kimchi and seaweed, and the bibimbop also came with a bowl of soup(some variant of miso). The kimchi was not too spicy, but it was fine. The soup was just OK. All in all, a good meal in a convenient location — the grocery store.
