This is our favorite place for lunch, great food and service at a great price, what more can you ask for? The menu is limited for lunch on the Hibachi side(where we always eat, I forget they have regular table service.) But they offer a variety of Susi along with Hibachi grilled chicken, scallops, shrimp, steak, and salmon, all for $ 9-$ 10. Choice of soup or salad, choice of steamed or fried rice as well. A variety of grilled veggies are included but you have the option to skip them for double rice. The server’s are always friendly and usually prompt, chefs are entertaining as well. The one thing that I dislike is that they serve the rice while the rest of your order is on the grill. I’ve gotten used to it but I’d prefer that everything was plated closer to the same time. Come once, come often, see you there.

I thought that this was going to start off well since our waiter at the grill table was funny and nice. My family got the grill and I got sushi. I eat sushi probably 5 times a week. I love it. This was the WORST sushi I have had in as long as I can recall. horrible. The toro was fishy, the spicy tuna hand roll was terrible, so was the salmon. My family said the grill food was fine but we had a very uninspired chef that clearly has been doing this too long. Never, ever ever again will we go back. They did not take any of the food off my check that I sent back either. YUCK! Sushi lovers. run, don’t walk and by the way, the women’s bathroom was out of soap too so who knows what people were walking out of the bathroom’s on their hands.

Great food, quick service and friendly staff. They’re always satisfying with their food and service. If you want a quick meal or some entertainment with your meal, go to the hibachi grill. Awesome place for either lunch or dinner.

Should be 3.5 stars, not as good as the one in Hamburg. Service is slower and the sushi is not as good.

Food is really good but service is not good. It has gotten worse last year it is like they don’t care anymore.

4 stars given because it’s a decent, convenient place to go for hibachi or some sushi. I’ve been here several times with friends, particularly for birthday parties. The wait, if there is one, is typically short. The waitresses, for the most part, are nice and attentive. If you order hibachi you’re in for a typical show that results in some pretty good food. I normally order chicken & shrimp with fried rice. It comes with clear house soup and a house salad. On occasion, we’ll also order a sushi roll or two. It’s pretty good, but nothing to get too excited over. If you’re lucky enough to go here and it’s your birthday, they will sing to you in English and Japanese. The nice part is that it’ll result in an ice cream scoop for you in celebration of your day. Try them out, enjoy the show, and prepare to leave full or with leftovers.

I really like the food here, but I had to give it only 3 stars because my experience was totally diminished by cold air blowing directly on our table off and on during the entire duration of our visit. It was so uncomfortable and disturbing that as soon as we ate and paid the check, I was so ready to leave. Maybe this wouldn’t be the case on the hibachi table side of the restaurant or toward the front, as we were in the regular dining area, toward the back. We asked our waitress about turning it off and she said she would check on it, but it continued to go off and then back on. Besides the freezing cold air blowing directly on us, the food was tasty. We got the AJ «roll» which was more like a tartare, but delicious. We also got the chicken and shrimp entrée, which was good, but a small portion for the price. They have an ok wine selection and our service was good.

Enjoyed dinner with the family. Hostess was not much help! Fried Rice s bit too salty and really nothing to is as one might expect. No green onion, meat, etc. Spicy tuna/ahi roll was fairly good. Compared to some of the Teppanyaki style restaurants this is just average.

I must say, both Asukas have improved over time. The customer service is great and the whole restaurant is attentive to guest needs and requests. Food is brought out or prepared in a timely manner that is quick but feels unrushed. I am very pleased with their continued improvement. The lobster rolls are particularly tasty!

Love, love, love this place. Did I mention I loved it. The food is really good, the cooks are a lot of fun. The price isn’t that bad for 2. Enjoy!

Definitely one of our favorite places. Love everything about Asuka. Table service is great. The sushi options are excellent, and I’ve never had anything I didn’t like. My favorite is the VIP Roll. The hibachi grill is always fun, especially with a group of friends. Tonight we had Jeff as our hibachi chef and he was spectacular. Kept us entertained and laughing the whole time. The food was great as always and we will definitely ask for Jeff the next time we come in for dinner.

Apparently this is one of two locations. Over all this is not a bad restaurant. The sushi was ok, not the best in town, but I’d eat it again. What really lagged this town was the service. We knew we had a party of 6 for the hibachi table. While we were waiting on the last two people, they sat 2 other couples at the table so when we got seated, the last two people were basically at the other hibachi table. There were 2 grills facing away from each other and the table going around 3 sides. I was probably 20 feet away from the last member in our party. The husband and I ordered sushi and the other four of our party ordered hibachi. Well the chef came out and started doing his routine, making the fire volcano and other jokes. One person in our party ordered no rice extra veggies, but due to the spacing issue, the chef forgot to give one person his veggies so he took veggies off the plate of the person who ordered extra.(Btw, she had been eating off the plate. It was a good thing she was in our party or this would have been even worse). The server came around and silly tea and water on people as she tried to fill up glasses. The miso soup was pretty good. I normally I don’t care for miso, but I ate it. Again, the sushi was good, but not the best. I can’t speak to how the hibachi food was, but we didn’t use any Togo containers.

Standard hibachi fare. The chef was fine. He did the patter and the volcano onion, but didn’t flip shrimp into anyone’s mouths. So, if that matters to you, there you go. I’m not a fan of hibachi tables. I like a good steak, not overcooked or overseasoned. But that’s never what you get at a hibachi. You get overcooked, super saiced meat. The saving grace is that they’re happy to serve you just sushi, even if you’re sitting at a hibachi table with friends. My wife and I ordered a sushi/sashimi combo, a soft shell crab roll, and some eel sashimi. She LOVES eel, and it lived up to expectations, apparently. I’m a tuna fan, and the tuna roll, tuna nigiri and tuna sashimi were all good. My wife won’t eat salmon, but there were a few pieces on the plate which I gamely ate. It was the pale orange that you’d expect of farm-raised or atlantic salmon. I’m a salmon snob, having lived in Alaska. It was palatable, but not impressive like fresh pacific salmon can be. A confession: I never know what the different white fishes are on a sushi platter. Here, some were okay, others were a tad fishy. I can’t stand a fishy fish. Frankly, there are better places in town to eat sushi, but this sushi was not bad. If you have average expectations for sushi and/or love hibachi tables, you’ll likely be pleased by this place. I was personally underwhelmed. As for the atmosphere, the music is slightly too loud for the elevator jazz they play. It’s strictly background music, so no reason to have it that audible. The chairs at the hibachi were low enough(or the table high enough) that I felt like a kid sitting at the grown-up table.(I’m 5’5″.) I was also on a corner and the space felt crowded. We were also seated at a hibachi tavle that included strangers. I prefer not to do that, but my wife fell on her sword and sat at the end of our group next to the strangers, so I can’t complain too much. My complaints, it should be noted, are minor and nitpicky. It was overall a positive experience for someone else’s birthday event, but I wouldn’t pick it.

This is one of two local Asuka locations. They both are the classiest Japanese restaurants in the area. I try not to pay attention to the chalkboard graffiti on the walls, but it’s very noticeable and not something I would think of when I think of a five star restaurant. Another thing that I wouldn’t consider for a five star restaurant, is a 90% health inspector rating posted before entering the restaurant. Other than those two negatives, everything else is uphill from there. Last night we celebrated my daughter’s birthday. This was her pick and favorite place around and it was the first time that my parents ever tried Japanese. I have to admit that we conned them into it by not mentioning that it was Japanese, just a hibachi. They were sold though. When dining at a hibachi, I always get the combination, chicken and scallops. I judge the experience on the scallops. I must say that the scallops were excellent here. I skipped ahead, not mentioning the soup and salad, which were both excellent too. The service has always been top notch. The hibachi chefs are hilarious and accommodating. Even though the tab usually reaches more than the average, always be sure to tip more than the usual 20% because you have to consider that there’s several waitstaff and the chef. Save your Kroger receipts because there’s a coupon on the back.

Sushi was really good, friendly staff but the only reason I’m giving 3 stars cause is to overprice.

This is a great place for sushi. The fish has never been fishy, and all the rolls have been well made and maintained their integrity(I’ve been to plenty of places where the rolls fall a part). We’ve received mixed and neutral service, I can’t praise nor complain about it. For food, it’s good, but I need to tour some more restaurants.

I am extremely disappointed in this sushi. I am a huge sushi fan. I’m from the east coast, and I have been hunting for sushi close to being as good as I can find at home. So far KY has not even come close. This sushi came recommended. It looked great when I got it but as soon as I tried to eat it the rolls fell apart. Literally every one crumbled when k tried to pick it up. The pieces I could eat ended up being dry and bland. Though the sushi was lacking the miso soup and salad was great! The woman that took my order could barely speak English. Which isn’t normally a problem for me. But when you are in customer service I think there needs to be a better understanding. So unfortunately, I am still on the hunt for good sushi here…

So, I’m a big connoisseur of sushi and I love hibachi style cuisine. Asuka came with a strong recommendation from a friend and I thought why not, it married two things I love. The place is beautiful, artfully decorated. The staff is very friendly and very attentive. Although my waitress was a bit scatterbrained and really had no sense about her. She really made the experience a bit frustrating.(Forgetting food and drinks all the time, never informing that she going to get me my change from a manager a little heads up would’ve been nice so I didn’t have to search for someone after 30 minutes). The food selection is great, plenty of sushi options with corresponding explanations. The hibachi selection is pretty standard fair. For dinner: Red Bull Roll: Spicy Crab and cucumber, finished with steak, green onion and special sauce. This was amazing beautifully crafted, the flavors were astounding. Eel roll: fresh water eel barbecued and sesame seeds. This was standard fair it tasted really good. Can’t beat the staples of sushi. To drink: Japanese Mojito: mint, cucumber, mint flavored rum. This wasn’t great the cucumber completely overpowered the entire drink. I like cucumber, but this was ridiculous. I’m giving this place two stars because of two major reasons: 1st: the waitress, she was infuriating and just plain not with it. She kept saying she was new, but then said later that she had been waitressing there for 2 years. So I’m not sure what the truth is, it just made fora frustrating experience. She was nice though which helped, in the end detracted from my experience. 2nd: I got food poisoning after all that. Not sure what caused it, but it was tasty regardless. Recommendation: I would recommend steering clear of this place. If you want sushi go some place that caters to it specifically and the same goes for hibachi.

This was my first visit to Asuka. I was excited to try it, but the service was extremely slow. My party of 3 got there around 1pm or a little before. I thought there might be a wait but it was pretty empty. The guy up front said give me just a few minutes. The people in front of us wanted the grill area too but their whole party wasn’t even there yet. He initially told them He couldn’t seat them, but did anyway. We sat there for at least 20 min before he sat us.(the other party he sat w/out the full party still wasn’t all there yet). When we finally got to the grill the same guy was to take our water/food order. I’ve been to other hibachi places and enjoy them but this service was way too slow. We didn’t get out of there until almost 3pm! The food was good, although the dressing in the salad was too heavy and I didn’t care for it. I don’t eat Sushi so I can’t speak to all the rave reviews in here about that, so if that is your thing it’s probably a great place. Our chef was hard to understand and mumbled.
