Consistently Good Jewish Deli Restaurant that has been around now for some time so they have their following. Could be a few bucks cheaper, but the Newtown location demands a higher rent I guess? It comes down to whether you are more in the mood for Moishe’s or the more popular Ben and Irv’s in Huntington Valley for the Bucks crowd in the mood for a nosh. There are some items at Moishe’s that I find definitely superior for example; the Cabbage Borscht Soup is the best I have ever had, sweet and delicious with healthy chunks of flanken meat. The Chicken Parm may be the best in Bucks in my opinion. Love their veggies, kasha and bows are my personal favorite. Service is usually good, but some of the older waitresses can have a little bit of a tude. plenty of parking and never long waits even when crowded. All in all, if you don’t mind spending a little extra,(20 bucks and up with tip for a dinner platter) you will usually get tasty good size portion Jewish meal.

My family came here for lunch a bit after noon, and it was surprisingly packed, but we were seated very quickly. I love that they serve pickles as soon as you sit down… both sweet and sour! I had trouble deciding what to choose as there are so many options on the menu! I settled on the Monte Crisco sandwich which is served on French toast challah bread. The sandwich was gigantic, and delicious. The one disappointment is that the side item is a bag, yes PLASTIC bag of Herr’s potato chips. Come on, really?! Throw some fries, or even a side of coleslaw on the plate. Apparently you need to order a combo(side and drink) to be given a different option. The rest of the fam ordered omelettes, ranging from veggie to corned beef that came with a side of home fries. The omelette add-ins to egg ratio was way too heavy on the egg side. The potatoes looked like that had been thrown into the pan for a hot second, and were barely cooked with little to no taste. Two of our orders were messed up, which is an unfortunate mishap. Our waiter still charged us for that dish. I’m not saying to completely take it off the bill, but with good customer service a bone or so should have been thrown.

Decent corned beef sandwich –however the corned beef was a bit on the dry side. Cabbage borscht soup was old. Looks like their clientele is locked in so they really don’t have to try. This place is just what I expected. No big deal.

The reviews for this deli were all over the place so we really didnt know what to expect. Overall though, we had a pretty nice time! The place was packed when we got there(Sunday, noon). Still, service was quick and very pleasant. The food wasn’t as bad as you’d think, based on a place with a 3 star Unilocal rating. We got the matzah ball soup, potato pancakes, pastrami on rye, and a Lenny omelette. All were pretty good, in particular the potato pancakes which were piping hot and very crispy. The one thing I didn’t like was the ambiance. The place is really in need of some updating. The plates and glasses we got were chipped, the chairs at our table were mismatched with ripped upholstery, the walls were all scratched up, and the carpet was dirty and stained. The place just looked neglected and it skeeved me out a bit. Still, not a bad spot for deli food. Would probably give them another go.

Service was absolutely horrible. Thanks Pat. Will not be back. Biscuits tasted like they came from a can. And don’t even think about asking to split the check or you will see the nastiest stink eye ever. I think the laser beams shooting from her eyes will forever be burned in the back of my head.

Good Jewish Deli in the middle of Newtown. Came here for a business breakfast. Our server was a little clueless about the Unilocal check in discount and when she asked the lady in the front about it she was clueless too. It kinda made me look like a cheap jack ass. The food was fine I guess. I had my omelet, coffee and side of bacon. We our our food pretty quick too. I guess i wont complain much more about the MUCH older waitress not being techie. I will be back!

This place is dirty and simply disgusting to be in let alone eat in. I cannot imagine how filthy the kitchen must be after seeing dining room. Looks like it has not been remodeled since the great depression. Bathrooms are never cleaned and the doors open right out on booths across from them in dining area. Very expensive menu compared to just about any other local place, Also not a very friendly staff. Shame, because breakfast is decent and sandwiches are good. Have gone there many times over the years but will never darken the doorway again until it is fixed up, cleaned and remodeled. Just too disgusting. Any and all good reviews here have to be coming from rude staff members that want to keep their job. It is the ONLY way this place can get to 3 stars. This place should be closed by the Newtown Board of Health. Also Unilocal needs to make it at least $$$ to reflect that it is out of sight expensive for what you get.

I run a Brunch Club with 80 members. If you want to see just how good a restaurant is, take a large party there. You’ll be surprised at how the wait staff at your favorite spot seems to give everyone the stinky eyeball. We didn’t get the stinky eyeball here. I know that there are mixed reviews here, but I have always liked the food, and I’ve never had bad service here. The best service is chatty service where you are being invited into their«Home». I wouldn’t say that this place has the best service, but the food is really good here. They have a whole page of Rueben’s. Their Rueben’s are out of this world. No junky meat here. It is trimmed, nice and lean, and they know how to cook it. The only dish I ever got here that I didn’t like was the crab omelette. I felt like trying something different, but I really didn’t like it. They are one of only 6 restaurants on our rotation, Erwin’s, Mil-Lee’s, Garden of Eatin’, Moshe and Itsy’s, and Great American. We have tried about 15, but a lot of them employed the stinky eyeball, so they are off the rotation. I have only given one bad review here, for a lady that was uncalled for rude– the Edgewood Café in Yardley.

What’s in a name? Evidently a lot of expectations and a lot of disappointment for a Jewish Deli. Hoping to find nosh that my bubbe could be proud of, I walked in a few mornings ago hoping to get a bagel with whitefish salad. I saw the menu and decided again when I saw the price– about $ 10. Come on, guys, I could get a *lox* bagel in Philly for that much and have a coffee on the side. I settled for a cheaper«tomato and cheese» bagel, at about $ 6.50. I hope that my picture appears underneath, but in case it doesn’t, this«tomato and cheese bagel platter» consisted of a bagel, an unripe tomato slice, and 2 slices of the lowest grade American«Pasteurized Cheese Curds» slices you could find at Walmart, with a pickle and a bag of chips on the side. It has been a *long time* since I went to a local place around here and found food that was bad. Not even mediocre, but legitimately bad. I’m somewhat offended that the Einstein Bros across the street could have come up with something twice as good for half the price. I had really high hopes for this place and I was slapped in the face. If you’re looking for a good Jewish deli, try Holland. Try the Northeast. Because you’re only going to be disappointed here.

This place has gone down hill drastically! I have been coming here for an early diner on Tuesday night, horrible service! Nobody seems to be looking out for the customers. But we can here all the latest about their love life or other silly conversations. The hostes had a loud meeting in the front booths with laughing and them eating but NOT serving. The food is now mediocre at best. Recipe for how to ruin a business

Good place for deli food. Very busy atmosphere for lunch with lots of regulars. Servers can be hit or miss, but food is consistent and portions are very generous. Prices are very reasonable considering the copious portion sizes, ubiquitous Jewish pickles, and never ending coffee refills. If you have a soft spot for Jewish deli food, there are the classics here and some more eclectic items, too. Probably the most solid items are the massive sandwiches and smoked fish platters. The restaurant has been renovated, but on a purely superficial level. Nothing substantive has changed to the design or the experience, which may not be a bad thing.

My father goes here daily he loves it. Very kind servers although it is a bit pricey. Large selection — definitely many options for vegetarians! The only issue is — price! I suppose because of the area they can get away with it?

My girlfriend and I stopped in this past weekend to pick up some chicken salad from the deli. She had been here the week prior and loved it and wanted to get some more. We walked over to the deli and it’s very tall so we went back to the front counter and caught a woman over there and asked for help. She made us feel as though we were disrupting her by giving her our business. When she took our payment(credit card) she didn’t say we needed to follow her or anything so we assumed we could wait at the counter to pay for the salad. Some fella came over and asked if we needed help and we said we were waiting to sign for the salad and he said«well you can go sign for it over there» in a very condensing tone as if we were a nuisance to him. My girlfriend had dropped her wallet and he just stepped right over it and walked by, not even offering to pick it up. For such a short visit, it was rude service. Just disappointed because it’s a place you want to love but poor service turned us off. We felt very uncomfortable there.

This is a classic Jewish deli that appears to be family run. I have been here twice and both times was satisfied but underwhelmed. The portion sizes are very generous — consistent with a Jewish delicatessen — but on both occasions I ordered soup and on both occasions the soup was lukewarm. As a former New Yorker I am fond of Jewish delis and there are not too many of them that I have come across in the Philly area. Thus, Moish and Itzy’s is definitely a good option if you have a hankering for some pickles and pastrami but if you are looking for a five star experience you may want to get yourself to the lower east side in NYC.

Good Jewish deli. Love the bowl of pickles you star off with. Needs some updating. Some of the booths are now taped together. Back to the food. Go during the week when they have their specials. For 12.99 you get your enter, 2 veggies, dessert, soup or salad. The cabbage soup is great. They gave a new chef that changed the zucchini marinia and it’s not so good any more as a veggie. Hope they switch it back. I love the chicken crockets. Not what you usually expect. They are almost like they ovals of a warm chicken salad with almost no breaking. Very good and something different. I also dig the itty bitty block of kugul they use as garnish.

Most of the food here is eh, but the borscht is incredible, as well as the pastrami and corned beef sandwiches(and specials). Breakfasts are below average and the service is usually lacking. Way overpriced! It’s exactly why I don’t come here too much. Nonetheless, I will still occasionally come for the soups and sandwiches.

Throughly disappointed in this place. The eggs I ordered were just awful and tasted bad. The toast and jelly write the best part of my omelet. The potatoes that came with the meal were just ok. Added salt was needed to make them taste good. Additionally, the cookies were good too. I recommend the black and white cookie, but the chocolate frosting tasted fake and wasn’t worth it.

Moish & Itzy’s and its predecessors have been serving me breakfast and an occasional dinner for almost 20 years. However, I frequent there less over time for a variety of reasons. When I found myself there last week for a breakfast meeting, I had a few moments to look around, read the menu closely, and get in touch with what I have liked about M & I. The physical plant looks worn. Walls dinged; molding dented and chipped; dirty carpets; same old floor plan. The menu is still huge, but unchanging. The prices fail to reflect the economic realities of our times, nor the effort of other restaurants to offer less expensive options. Finally, I compared my memory of decent food with current fare. That was basically the same from what I could tell. Big BUT — when I ordered Matzoh Brie(Fried Matzoh) I was told they had no Matzoh! Okay, but how is that possible in a Jewish style deli? I will skip the fun analogies. I ordered the French Toast instead. It was fine, but uninteresting. That sort of sums up my current sense of this place. It looks and feels basically the same, but after so much time in business, perhaps it should do something differently to keep people engaged in the environment. I felt tired after leaving M & I, despite all the coffee. Moish and Itzy felt tired, too.
