Create a Cook

I love this place. I went last week, for the second time, for a couples date night– Burger Bistro. We made buns from scratch, cheddar stuffed burgers with a bacon bourbon jam, crispy smashed potatoes, and brownie sundaes with homemade chocolate sauce. The whole experience was great, from beginning to end. Our instructor, Donna, was very knowledgeable and would teach us little tidbits of things unrelated to the menu as the class progressed– from the proper way to cut an onion to which kind of salt is best for baking vs. cooking. She was really spunky and fun to be around, and helped make the class fun and successful.
After you’re done cooking, you sit down at a table with the other couples and you are served your meal. When you finish eating, you go pick up a doggy bag with all of your leftovers neatly put together, and your entire station is cleaned up.
The food was amazing, my boyfriend said that it was the best burger he’s ever had, and we had tons of leftovers. I left feeling like I learned a lot, and that I had a great meal! BYOB doesn’t hurt either! The only downfall was that our potatoes were pretty cold by the time we got around to eating them. My only suggestion would be that you wait to pop them in the oven til just before you’re planning on eating.
Awesome experience overall and I will definitely be back!

Had a really great time at the Steakhouse Style cooking class. The staff is very kind and went out of their way to make sure everyone had a great time. Their customer service rep even created a personal flyer for me since the tickets were a gift for my boyfriend. Not to mention the class was great fun and the food was absolutely delicious! I have even bought tickets for wedding gifts because it is a great outing for any couple

On January 22^nd, we decided to try create a cook for a French cuisine dish. Not knowing what to expect, we showed up and were introduced to the two other couples that we were cooking with along with the two chefs. The experience was amazing, the food was terrific, learned some great pointers on cooking, and had a wonderful time. Thanks to the two chefs that both did an amazing job that evening. Will never forget the «claw», how to cut an onion correctly and the «layers of heat». Looking forward to a future cook night!

I can’t say enough great things about Create a Cook! My husband and I watch Chopped almost every night and it is one of our favorite shows of all time. In July I turned 30 and my family and friends surprised me with a Chopped competition party! Let me just tell you it was the most amazing time I have ever had, and everyone involved felt the same way! Chef Jeff was awesome, as was his assistant Monica, she was so sweet and helpful!!. Even my friends who I didn’t think would be interested in cooking were in there making pasta and having a fabulous time.
The tools and ingredients provided by Create a Cook are superb: fresh produce, delicious cheese and meats, just about every appliance under the sun! We were in heaven! It was great how Chef Jeff let us really customize our menu and let it be our vision but gave us just enough little helpful tweaks to really make our food shine! He is a true teacher and leader, he clearly knows himself and his worth as a chef and doesn’t feel the need to show off, it was more like working with a very knowledgable friend. We all plan on requesting him when we come back (which we will be many times!!!)
None of us have stopped talking about this experience and it was July 19^th when we were there. In this age of something new every day I think that the fact that nothing has overshadowed this experience yet speaks for itself. This was truly the most amazing experience and birthday I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to come in for some date night classes and another party. Thank you so much Create a Cook and especially to Chef Jeff and Monica, you gave my family, friends and me memories which we will smile and laugh about for a lifetime!

My daughter and I have been here two times. Once for a classmates birthday party about two years ago and most recently today for a parent/​child pasta themed cooking class. We absolutely loved it. Our instructor was great and very attentive. Our meal and dessert came out absolutely delicious. When my daughter heard they offered a camp she immediately wanted to go. We will certainly be going back again and she will do the camp.

My daughter went there for the I love chocolate class today. She had so much fun and brought home tons of the most delicious desserts she made. Totally recommend this place

This place is fantastic! I heard about this place from a coworker and that she had gone one a date night cooking class and had a blast. I set up a date to go for the Mexican cooking class with another friend and her husband and it was so much fun! The food we cooked was delicious, they give you the recipe after, and its byob so you can drink and socialize while you cook!
My family just did this again and planned a private party with the six of us for a tapas/​paella night and it was great! We are going to make it and annual tradition!
Can’t wait to go back and can’t wait til my daughter is old enough to send her to a camp or program there!

Great experience. I took my 7 year old niece to Adult and Child cooking with chocolate and we had a blast. Highly recommend.

I was absolutely thrilled with our experience at Create a Cook. My son is very interested in cooking and asked to have a cooking party for his 7^th birthday. We looked around, and signed up for Create a Cook sight unseen. This was the BEST birthday party we have ever had, and we have thrown some pretty big birthday parties!
First of all, each kitchen can seat 12 children. There was one chef instructor and an assistant. You are provided with a choice of menu options. We chose Hawaiian themed. What this meant was that for 2 hours, kids prepared fruit salad with a dressing, chicken-​pineapple kabobs, smoothies and decorated cupcakes. These kids are kept very busy for the entire two hours. I was amazed to see the patience and effort going into managing an enthusiastic group of 7 year olds. They were completely entranced by the entire process. There was amazing attention paid to health and safety and yet kids were left to do much of the prep work themselves.
The staff are incredibly nice and creative, the space is clean and welcoming, and the overall experience was top notch. I cannot recommend Create a Cook highly enough.

My son’s classmate had her birthday party here and the entire class was invited to come and make their own pasta and smoothie! With 20 kids I thought it will get out of hand as it’s almost impossible to keep the attention of twenty 5 year olds for extended periods of time. I thought there would be whining and complaining, but no, they all listened and participated in an orderly fashion. The staff was in control the entrire time.
The kitchen area were clean and free of clutter. There were food related magazine and books availble for those who were not participating the the cooking sessions. Books are availble for purchase if you decibe you want to start cooking at home.
After the kids finished their pasta, they can start eating. They loved the idea of eating what they’ve made. They had a good time making the food as well as eating it. After we left the Create-​a-​Cook, my son showed me how to make a strawberry smoothie at home. Even months after, he still remembers how to do it.
This is a great place for kids to start them on a road to appreciating their foods. What work has to go into it and why certain foods can’t be rushed. Better than having them think spaghetti just drops on their plate the moment they ask for it.

I went here a few weeks back for a private cooking party. It was fun (I love to cook), and the place itself is adorable, but the actual cooking part wasn’t quite what I was expecting. All they did was set out the ingredients, tools, and recipes and tell us to ask if we had any questions.
Also, each pair/​threesome only got to make one dish, which was disappointing. This may be a factor of how big the class was (maybe about 14 people), but our instructor seemed a little overwhelmed and unable to help as much as he wanted to. I did learn a neat trick for piping whipped cream, though!
If I go back, I’ll go on a different cooking night (we did France by Sea,” and there was only one thing I would make again), and I’d try to go with a smaller group.

My teenage son went to a few sessions of Create-​a-​Cook.
Overall, he enjoyed the experience very much. I observed some of the classes, and I don’t think you really learn much about cooking, if you are interested in the kind of class where you really learn culinary skills. However, I was thrilled to have a place to take him that didn’t involve video games and where there were other teens.
So, depends what you’re looking for.
I would give it 3.5 stars, but rounded up to 4, since my son enjoyed it.

Jarrod and Raymond were amazing… a group of us were there on a Tuesday night cooking and laughing and eating the delicious food we learned to make that night! None of us were chefs when we began the night, but we ate the MOST delicious food we made that night. I’m thinking we are chefs, after all? A fun, relaxing, delicious, yummy, perfect evening! Truly could not recommend this experience more!

I attended a «date night» themed sushi cooking class at Create-​A-​Cook, and while I had a lot of fun and the facilities were fantastic, I found the instruction aspect of the class to be completely lacking.
Once the class started, we were told by the instructor to read the instruction packet we were given, and ask if we have any questions.
Half of the cooking was already done for us ahead of time.
The answer to almost every question asked was, «You can do it however you like.»
We were given no demonstration or instruction on technique, unless it was asked for, and even then the demonstration was lackluster and given only to the person who asked.
Really, it felt like we were being supervised like a elementary school daycare, and the instructors main objective was to get the class done as quickly as possible, with as little effort on his behalf.
Very disappointing…

My boyfriend got me the Date Night: A Night in Italy cooking class as a birthday present.
From the moment we entered the class I felt confused, rushed and overall unwelcome. Our instructor neglected to introduce herself, provide us with her background, or ask us about ours. In addition, we were never shown where any of the equipment or materials were in the kitchen. The instructor seemed to be in a rush the entire night with her only concern being that we completed all of the recipes.
We attended this class to learn new techniques and improve our cooking skills. However, there was no introduction to the course; let alone any instruction. We were told from the start to use the print outs as our form of direction. If we wanted to read from a cookbook and make food together we could have easily done so in the comfort of our own home. Whenever anyone did have a question or showed any sign of hesitation, the instructor’s solution was to come over and do it herself while we were left to watch. Nevertheless, we came to learn and become better at something we are passionate about. Unfortunately, the majority of the food was prepared for us ahead of time. For instance, the tomatoes for the Winter Caprese Salad were pre-​roasted because she assumed we already knew how to do that. Sadly, I did not and would have loved to get suggestions on roasting tomatoes properly.
Considering this was advertised as a date night, I felt my boyfriend and I barely had a chance to interact with one another. When one of us was working on one thing, the other was told to go to the opposite end of the room and start the next item. This made us feel anxious and as if we were part of an assembly line where they only cared that we get the food completed quickly. It was a BYOB but they didn’t even give us time to open our wine or offer us cups.
Overall, the night which was supposed to be a bonding and learning experience for myself and my boyfriend left us both extremely frustrated and disappointed. This was my birthday present from my boyfriend and we both expected a much higher level of service and experience.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money, get a recipe online, buy some ingredients and learn together in your own kitchen.

My partner and I did a Date Night cooking class (Fall Harvest) taught by Mark. We were the only couple in the class, which was nice, though may account for some of our frustrations.
When we arrived, we found the place to be very warm and the staff to be quite friendly. Furthermore, the dishes we prepared were very interesting as we both cooked with ingredients we had never used before and created a nice stew, decent cupcakes and a few other unique entrees. While we certainly made a lot of food, I don’t know if we made anything worth eating a second time.
Overall, while it was nice to cook alongside my love, we both found the experience largely lacking. For starters, for a cooking class, I felt like I learned very little about cooking. While Mark gave a few pointers here and there, he largely just hung around in the background and watched us, occasionally reaching in to help when we were doing something wrong, without ever providing us with the skills or techniques to improve. I wish, when Mark saw us doing something poorly and oddly, he would have instead said «While that’s an interesting way to cut an onion, I would personally recommend cutting it like so…»
Furthermore, there was a lot of dead air in the kitchen, time in which I felt the instructor could have been more outgoing or instructional. Instead of pacing back and forth while we cut everything, perhaps he could have told stories, engaged us in conversation or provided random chunks of information about food.
In the first moments of the class, our instructor gave us directions, told us to read through them thoroughly and begin preparing the food on our own while he went off and did something else. This inattention to the customer and distraction made what could have been a romantic night of shared learning and creation, into one of tedium and neglect.

This place is awesome! I have now been to Create-​A-​Cook twice, having gone to a Date Night (Steakhouse Style) in April and the Summer Pie Making class just last week. Jeremy taught the steakhouse date night, where we made rib-​eye steaks with roasted garlic compound butter, a wedge salad with a wonderful bleu cheese dressing (which we also made), and roasted broccoli with a crumbly panko & lemon topping. I took that class with a friend, and the others were regular couples, but we felt totally comfortable and chit-​chatted with everyone. Jeremy was charming, funny, and knowledgeable, and I recommend him highly. Oh, and thankfully my friend knew that we should bring our own wine to drink with dinner! We had a huge delicious meal at the site, and my «date» and I each (EACH) still brought home enough for at least another dinner.
Linda taught the pie making class and she was so helpful and patient. I am not generally a fan of baking because of how exact and chemistry-​based it is, but this class really helped me get past that. We made three gorgeous pies to bring home; one (blueberry with a lattice-​top crust) went straight into my freezer (unbaked), and the other two (lemon meringue and an open-​faced nectarine crostata) were served to my family and friends this past week and received excellent reviews! Linda is really skilled and stepped in a couple of times to rescue a crust or give encouragement, but she also gave everyone room to have fun and learn some good stuff while getting ourselves covered in flour. (Oh, did I mention that they provide the aprons?!)
These 2 – 3 hour classes were well worth the price in ingredients and instruction alone, but when you add in the finished products to eat and take home, plus the fun and the experience, I feel like I got much more than my money’s worth.

My boyfriend got the French Bistro date night class for me as a Christmas present, and it was the best present ever! We love cooking together, and we wanted to take a class where we’d learn something new. We learned a lot of things, we had a ton of fun with the 3 other couples in the class, and we LOVED the meal we made — everything was SO good.
We made duck breast with a cherry sauce, a frisee salad with huge pieces of bacon and a dijon dressing, a couple of sides, and Napoleon pastries oozing with chocolate sauce.
The class was long enough (2 hours) that we did not feel rushed at all, and were able to goof around a bit and chat with the other couples. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Also learned a few pro tips from Jeremy, our instructor. He was nice, patient, helpful, and skilled. After the cooking, we sat down at about 9:30 to eat dinner, then headed into the kitchen to finish up the dessert, and came back and ate. It was deliciousssss…
We are definitely planning to come back. Tip: As others also said, bring a bottle (or two) of wine… we brought 1 bottle for cooking, and 1 for eating :)

We had a great, great night with Mo as he walked us through the making of a traditional Italian meal. We went for the couples date night and our group was maxed out at eight people, which made for a very intimate session. Mo was able to give all of us very specific instruction and advice.
We started by making homemade pasta with two sauces, then moved on to a great fennel and apple sald, a wonderful steak done in the style of the pizza maker and finally cannoli. It was delicious. We had an entire pan of homemade pasta to bring home, too.
Create a Cook is BYOB, so everyone brought a nice bottle of wine to drink during the prep work and then during dinner. It made for a fun environment! They have so many class options that we definitely want to go back again. The cost was $ 160 for two people, which included all of the food and the instruction. The class was about three hours long.
We will definitely be back!

I highly recommend Create-​a-​Cook. Sam and Billy were wonderful and did an amazing job in helping nine clueless girls in the kitchen with the French Bistro Menu #1. I have to admit some of us were quite nervous thinking we were cooking at our own meal at our own station but we were split into teams and cook together– Whew! The recipes sound very complicated but it was so easy to make. We ate a good amount of the food while prepping it but still had plenty for takeouts after our sit down dinner.
It was a very nice and cozy place for a bachelorette gala and have girl talk. We were quite loud and no complaints from the other bachelorette party at the end of the table. We were also given a copy of the recipes and hopefully I can make it for my boyfriend one evening.
