I went for the first time. My ideal place is Floyd’s – good value, hipster barbers/stylist, good alt rock playing – but there isn’t one convenient since moving to Newton.
An odd location and a bit of an anachronism, Mr Sid Hair Salon is in the basement of a über-pricey men’s clothing store (well-tailored, stylish line-up, but shirts start at $ 200 it seems).
The barber did a good job and I’m happy with the cut. It is a fairly pricey no-frills haircut at $ 35 (wash and cut). It sounds like there are independent barbers that work there on different days, renting the space.
Bottom line: I think I’d go back, but will explore other Newton barbers first.
