I came here before taking the ferry to the Reds game and I like the whole atmosphere this bar had. Its a very cool place to come watch the games or just come for drinks. I love how its located on the water with views of Cincinnati. Not sure if they serve food here since all we did was drink but I would love to come back next time I’m in town.

They do have a good beer selection, but the place itself is made of nightmares. It’s dark, loud, and grimy. You can hardly hear yourself order at the bar and it’s darn near impossible to have a conversation in the place.

Went on a sunday night after bunbury to watch the cavs game. wish i had gone elsewhere. not sure if this place is also hooters or what, but it was confusing. so let’s get the pros out of the way. it is quick: good draft selection, good porch/patio on the water. service was awful. it was not packed at all and i had to ask two separate bartenders for a beer. the first one went and talked to a friend at the bar. a minute or two goes by so i ask the male bartender. he takes my order, goes and talks to a friend for a minute. pours my beer, takes my money, talks to a friend, starts yelling and blowing his whistle at the DJ(shitty music, by the way). i have to actually yell at the bartender to get my change back. about 5 mins had elapsed before i first asked for a beer. if it was crowded i would understand, but it was not at all. was met with a snarky response as i walked away. this is not a dive bar as others have stated, or at least not like any solid dive bar i have been to. it is large, open, bright, with a DJ/dance floor. the bathrooms played the part though. a dive bar is small, dark and plays music below well 120 bpm, it doesnt have a DJ. dive bars i have been to have also have great service, this is the opposite.

It is what it is at the Beer Sellar. If you’re looking for something low key, quiet or upscale this isn’t the place for you. If you like dive bars, loud music and a laid back atmosphere, this place is for you! Beer Sellar has an awesome location on the river directly facing Cincinnati. They truly have one of the best views around. There’s a huge deck and patio area and the inside is pretty large too. The place is loud and energetic and on weekend nights there’s a DJ. When the DJ is not there, you have the option to use Touch Tunes and play your own music. This is a good place to visit when you want to get out and have a good time but don’t want to spend a ton of money. It’s also perfect for large groups!

This is the absolute WORST bar I have ever been to. I showed up with a few friends looking to have drinks on the water. After arriving, I walked up to the bar and asked if they offered patio service — the bartender responded«Listen bro, this is a dive bar» and walked away without seeing if I wanted to order. Things only got worse from there. The bar staff was rude. The DJ turned the volume to maximum and failed to notice several guests plugging their ears and leaving. Several stools were completely broken. The bar for some absurd reason had ‘Giant Jenga’ indoors, which resulted in 2×4 boards loudly crashing on the ground every few minutes(fun outdoor game, just has no business in a crowded indoor bar). You could not pay me to return here.

I go here If I want to play games that has late hours and beer. They have a pool table, shuffle board, life size jenga, air hockey, darts, foosball table, oh my! The staff behind the bar is great and very patient. Sometimes, «cooky and drunk» patrons come in being a bit rowdy. This place is connected with a deck with Hooters attached on the other side. Great place to go in winter to still be active and be around people.

Burger ordered was $ 5, came fully cooked out of a holding bucket of water, back on grill, and onto a stale bun. Id have ate a gas station hot dog before this. One bite and in the garbage you couldn’t even chew it. I was just looking, not picky, to sustain me through a 3 hr concert. My blue moon was warm and skunky. Hard to drink. Great spot but you shouldnt be serving garbage like that right in front of the comsumer. I saw themdo that before my eyes and they were totally ok with it. I hope you can make better decisions in the future. I wouldnt return., was just looking for something goot to eat. I can’t edit above.

Beer sellar has a large selection of beer on tap. Thats about it. The crowd can be unruly and it usually smells like smoke(cigarettes and cigars). The music can be hit or miss. Fun if you go with the right people.

It floats… This floatia filled with beers and cigarette butts floats on a river of beers that flows from the plethora of taps located behind the bar. This hulking barge celebrates the scuzzy Kentucky of my youth that my parents warned me about. Situated on the Newport Landing, basically behind the flood wall, Beer Sellar shares its prime real estate with another classy establishment… Hooters. This barge hearkens back to a simpler time of the first Bush administration –ironically enough, probably the last time the bathrooms were cleaned– with the décor and the acceptance of cigarettes, but hey there are beers! And lots of them. So many beers in fact that they have a passport where if you drink enough you get a t-shirt, or possibly mug for the mug club. This place isn’t really my scene because of the smoking, décor, and to a degree the clientele, I sometimes feel like I am at Road House on the river. Granted one of the last times I was here lightening struck the roof and started a small fire, so maybe karma is telling me to stay away. However, if you like beers, smoking– especially a big honking cigar during a sporting match– mediocre entertainment, and some girls you probably went to high school with, then this is your place. Did I mention they have a lot of BEER! They might have spelled Sellar wrong in every sense you can think of, but hey at least they got the beer part right.

This is going to be short and sweet, and if I could give an extra point just for being cigar-friendly, I definitely would. I came here for one reason and one reason only: to have a good beer with which I could enjoy a great cigar I bought at The Party Source after a stressful week. So — - if you hate cigars, take away a star. If you love cigars, tack an extra star onto my 2-star review. Here it is, the full skinny on Beer Sellar: Beer selection = excellent(30 or 40 taps). No issues. Do NOT come here for a first date, unless you want to underwhelm her with your lack of taste. It is dark, it is dingy, it is not very clean or well-kept, but it is manageable as long as you’re not trying to impress someone, or worst of all, bringing someone here who either: A) doesn’t like to drink, or B) doesn’t like to drink beer. If either of these is the case, find somewhere else to go. Do NOT come here looking for ambiance and good design or décor. View = very good view of the city and the river(um, you’re on the river so I feel stupid for announcing the view of the river is good). Having said this, there are dozens of restaurants in Newport, Bellevue and Covington, with better views of the city. Ambiance & cleanliness = not so great, it’s an old river boat, but it is large. Men’s bathroom smells like panther piss, clean your damn bathrooms people! DO come here for a beer and a cigar. Make an evening of it? I think not. They have some work to do… End of story.

It could be great. That’s why it sucks. It has a huge beer list, great. It takes forever to get a drink, even on moderately busy days. It has live music, but it has a cluttered space. It has an interesting environment, that needs some love. It is located in cheap part of town, but charges two to three times the going rate for the same drinks/beers. If their prices came down a 1 or 1.50 on beers. I probably would have given it 3 stars. They dont offer the amenities or environment expected for the prices they charge.

3.5 stars for the good ol’ BS, but rounding down because closer to a 3 than a 4. We went before a Reds-Tigers game in order to catch the ‘river taxi’(I love that phrase) to and from the game. Pretty cool experience at $ 5 round trip and being able to get drinks on board. But other than baseball season I probably wouldn’t go back. On a Saturday afternoon it took over an hour for everyone’s food to come out. Also, with all of us being first-timers it wasn’t clear to us what the ordering system was, so after sitting and waiting awhile we asked another table and they informed us that you need to go to the bar for all food/drink orders and kindly let us have their menu. Pluses for friendly crowd/staff and good beer selection. I just didn’t get the ‘I LOVE this place and can’t wait to come back!’ feeling.

This is an odd spot. The positive is it’s on the river with a spectacular view and cigar Tuesdays. The place is dark, dingy and you will be served by scantily clad, over-tan Playboy rejects. The beer selection is OK — there are bars that sport better selections including The Comet in Northside and Neons in OTR. Their prices are ridiculous. The real reason for the 2 stars and their beer lines. S.K.U.N.K.Y. For me this is absolutely unforgivable. CLEANYOURBEERLINES.

I am not a beer drinker and yet I love the Beer Sellar. There is nothing I love more than sitting out on their patio on a sunny day or warm night looking out at the Cincinnati skyline. Yes, this place is a dive and yes, the food is definitely nothing more than typical bar food. Yes, the restrooms tend to be a little grungy. And no question, if you are hanging out inside, it is smoky! If you come on a weekend night, there will probably be a band playing so loud conversation inside will be impossible. My husband loves the beer selection! Price on wine is very reasonable for those of you like me that don’t drink beer. Bartenders tend to be very quick and incredibly nice. If you are a cigar smoker, try their cigar night(Tuesdays I think). I don’t recommend it during the winter months when everyone if forced inside, but during the summer the happy hour specials along with the cigars brings out a lively crowd.

Not a bad place. Nice beer selection. I have eaten the pizza her before and it wasn’t bad. They seem to have a good Sunday deal on beer. The place is very dive-y. Very dark inside. They have a great big deck for seating and smoking. The bathrooms are not that clean.

There is something grimy and slightly creepy about this place. It’s a really random group of people in my opinion(bikers, older people, college frat boys, goth girls, random other people) so that isn’t bad, just a bit weird. The beer selection is great — the giant beer wall is pretty amusing. Besides that, the glasses weren’t really clean(you can tell by an amount of things) and the tables were gross. It’s like they never clean. Sometimes the beer is just off. you do have a river view — so that is a plus. If you don’t mind the«we never clean the place — ever» kind of feel, this place is fine. One night there was live music, and he was really good. He played some random really good stuff. I don’t remember his name, only that he played an acoustic version of the auto-tuned«there’s a rapist in Lincoln Park, hide yo kids, hide yo wife» thing which was enjoyable.

For a Monday night and only 20 $ in my pocket to spend on «the drink» Beer Sellar won my vote. Very close to being a dive, and a wide selection of micro’s, I much enjoyed this atmosphere. The view is great and the bar dark. 2 $ drafts and 2 $ well drinks made me a happy girl. The bartenders were great, pulled up a seat and gave us all the info about the specials and how often they have them. Indulged us a little and even made the 3 of us a free cocktail. We will definitely be back.

I’ve been here several times, and I’ve enjoyed their variety in alcoholic drink selections. It’s great being by the river and the atmosphere is pretty good; it can be a bit loud, but for those used to bars it’s not anything different. The food is pretty good, at least as far as pizza goes — haven’t tried too much else, but it was decently priced and served 4 of us. Tasted good! :-) **NOTE: we tried hitting the Beer Sellar on a late Saturday night, and they were charging a $ 5 cover for a very crappy cover band. We opted for Bar Louie instead.

Other than the Beer Sellar’s panoramic view of Cincinnati and the Ohio River, this place doesn’t have much else going for it. Sure they have a copious brew selection, but since almost everyone here is drink Bud or Miller, what’s the point? I think Beer Sellar would be fun if I went there after a Reds game. A ferry shuttles back and forth between the Great American Ball Park and Beer Sellar’s back door(well, it’s pier, actually), so this is an ideal spot for post-game partying. The crowd at Beer Sellar is mostly 21 – 25, though the demographics shift upward during J.B. Fins and Party in the Park events. The large patio is packed(understandably) on summer weekends and, ladies, the bathroom is fairly large(still expect to wait, just not very long). Unless I’m going to a ballgame, I won’t be hanging at the Sellar anytime soon.
