We love this place and visit every visit to Newport. The toys are all high quality and worth the prices. Good selection of games and toys and the owner and his employees are hands on and fantastic.

What a great, not so small toy store. The store is much bigger than it looks from the outside and had a great combination of toys. Beach stuff, eco friendly, wooden, and vintage inspired toys to name a few. Also really reasonable prices — I was quite surprised for a beach town!

Fun store with excellent costumer service. The owner was very helpful and the toys were fun. Lots of unique brain puzzle type games, stomp rockets, wind ups, tops, sand toys and more! I highly recommend making a stop by especially of you have kids.

I think this place exemplifies the notion of «diamond in the rough». I mean, don’t get me wrong, I like Newport. But its downtown core(the area between Nye Beach and the bayfront that might otherwise be known as «sort of near 101?») is a little touch-and-go. We rented a house near the hospital and were really hoping to be able to walk most places, and the first time we walked to the Pig’N Pancake, things felt a little grim. I mean, the Pig’N looks out onto a parking lot full of government dump trucks.(You don’t see that photo in the Chamber of Commerce pamphlet.) So the first few times we passed by Sandcastle Toys, I assumed it was as sad on the inside as the nearby Masonic lodge was on the outside. But then my family finished the 1000-piece puzzle we’d brought along and we needed something else to do for family fun. The store is surprisingly large on the inside. Their jigsaw puzzle selection wasn’t huge, but the 1000-piece puzzle we got was particularly fun(it had a Joan Steiner image, if you know who she is; the owner clearly did, and even chatted us up about her work). The owner showed us a bunch of other toys that were clever and well-designed, and not at all the sort of junk you might otherwise associate with«beach town toy store» like I previously did.

Friendly and helpful staff and a good selection of toys and games. I like that they had beach stuff and a lot of wooden and more«green» toys. Great place to take the kids for a new toy and some fun.
