What fun! Not only do they have beautiful pieces of glass for sale in the gallery section — you can take a glassblowing class where an experienced glass artist will help you create a lovely piece. During a family reunion on the Oregon Coast my brother and I made beautiful bowls. We got to choose the colors and styles and each of us worked with a glass artist who walked us through the process– and truth be told– are the reasons the pieces are so beautiful. I would do this again in a heart beat. Highly recommend it. You’ll be smiling, smiling, smiling!

Glass blowing is something I have always wanted to do and there are many stores in the area that offer this opportunity but I really think the people at this store are the best around. We were trying to choose which place to go and make an appointment and it was after hours but Chris was cleaning things up and when he saw that I was looking for info, he invited me in to take a look at everything and was so pleasant. I took an instant liking to him and this place and made my appointment for a few days later… it was everything I had hoped for. I definitely suggest to come about an hour early so that you can look around and really know what colors you would like to have and have enough time to get advice from the people who work there. I did not get Chris as an instructor but the gal I worked with was very good and helped me with my project. I picked up my paperweight the next day and really liked the results. They were right on with their advice and I’ll definitely return to make more… Such a fun experience, great folks and very helpful

Super cool! Chris made it fun and easy for us to make something that was truly made by us, but still looked like professional work. We are incredibly happy with our experience!

What a treat. We went in to look at local artists glassworks and I ended up making a bowl of my own. You are taken through every step with expertise and can be assured that anything you do that may mess the piece up will be taken care of. In fact, other than choosing the color, turning the rod and blowing into the tube, you more more of an assistant. It was really interesting to be part of the process of creating a unique glass piece.

The staff was fantastic! Kris and Tonya did a great job making the experience fun for the kids in our group. They also were great at telling the kids what was happening while guiding them through the process. We are already thinking of what we will make on our next visit!

Made reservations a few months ago for our anniversary. Wasn’t sure at all what to expect. We were hoping to make a hers and his that we can display in our home. First off, boy did they catch the vision we were hoping for. Robin and Tonya were full of suggestions but really allowed us to make the decisions. Super friendly and super helpful. Seriously, if you have yet to try a glass blowing class, I could not be happier with Oregon Coast Glassworks! Prices are very fair, the instruction was excellent and the overall experience was exactly what we hoped for. We love our fluted bowls and will be displaying with some great memories attached. Thank you guys for helping make some great memories. We will be back!

I had a great time blowing glass there. The staff is friendly and helpful. The girl helped me select colors that went together well. And was fun to work with. My vase and bowel turned out great. They also shipped my items fast. They got home before I did. I cant wait to go back someday. They also have premade things for sale.

When I was 15 years old, we learned about Dale Chihuly in school and ever since; I’ve really loved glass art. I’ve wanted to try blowing my own glass for almost as long. Every time that I go to the beach, I see signs that say I could try it myself, but I never had the time to do it. We were only there for the day or the shop was closed, etc. Before heading to Newport for the weekend, I looked up glassblowing and came across Oregon Coast Glassworks. They offer classes with their staff all week and I called right away to sign up. My class time was at 100PM and I arrived a bit early to look at the gallery. I was able to get an idea on the piece that I could blow, as well as different color options. The time came for me to start and I had to put on work gloves but no goggles, since I have to wear glasses anyway. My instructor was John, who is visiting from Hawaii, where he is studying glassblowing. I had chosen to make a supersize float and I was very excited! John showed me ho to get everything ready, First heating the rod before dipping it in the clear glass, then dipping the rod in the colored glass, shaping the float, cutting off the imperfections; repeating the process as needed until we were done. He did a great job at explaining why and how certain things were done. After about 25 minutes, we were finished and John added the final hook/loop onto the float so that we could hang it at home. I picked up my float the next day after 12, as well as a mountable hook so that we could hang it at home. The experience was great. It was nice chatting with the owner throughout the process and John was excellent. I’d recommend this to anyone interested!

My daughter(age 14) and I were vacationing on the coast and came across Oregon Coast Glassworks. She created an amazing starfish with the help of one of the young men there. The glass had to cool slowly in a kiln overnight however they were closed the following day and we were leaving the same afternoon. Wendy was awesome, she shipped it for us for a small fee. This was an awesome experience and my daughter can’t quit talking about it. The staff were so kind and patient helping my daughter create a one of a kind memory. It was more expensive then a t-shirt but it doesn’t compare to the standard souvenir. Ask yourself, «Do I really need another t-shirt?». If you want something different to do while you are in Newport this is it! We will add to our collection every time we visit Newport in the future.

Which was pretty cool that they truly want you to leave happy. We recommend to everyone!
