Alas, Mammoth Café has closed their doors for business. Which doesn’t surprise me. The quality of their food and customer service has really gone down in the past couple of months to the point where my co-workers and I have all boycotted this place. It’s a shame to see this place go, but whatever they decide to open in it’s place, hopefully will be much much better.

food is great but I was disappointed with my cappuccino… The smallest size is a 16oz so basically my cappuccino was all milk and she added vanilla-the reason I like a cappuccino is for the foam and the stronger espresso taste. When I asked if it was sweetened she said yes all cappuccinos have a little vanilla. So if you like your caps to taste like a Starbucks vanilla coffee then go for it! Also the prices for coffee were a bit high

So so. Did not like the fact that it is ‘get your own menu then get your own coffee!’ I ordered a Café Aulait and the girl brought me steamed milk and told me that the coffee was ‘over there.’ What a laugh! The food was ok. Had the waffle and bacon and eggs. Ordered over medium but got over easy. Will definitely try other area places. A little pricey for non-service. Loved the décor though.

So on the first nice Saturday we’ve had in I don’t know how long we walked down to the Mammoth Café for brunch. A nice selection of eats and a über friendly staff. The breakfast tinga wrap was really good. The homemade hot salsa really put it over the edge. Also had the granola and sampled the sausage gravy(which I would say was the star choice). Everything was delicious though. The grog coffee was also on point. Didn’t realize it was going to be so nice… will bring my dog next time and sit outside. I feel very lucky to have such fantastic local businesses within walking distance. Will definitely be back.

Goetta Waffle, baked apples, & Berry Black Numi tea… Perfect! Love the twinkle lights and Edison bulbs too. I go back and forth between the Goetta Waffle and The Federal(a veggie sausage & potato wrap)… So yummy. Their Numi teas are my favorite, but when I’m craving a good cup of joe I always go for the Grog. It’s like pancakes in a cup(it has a maple syrup type flavor & aroma). Love this place!

You HAVE to come here for lunch and try the green chile pork chili bowl with fresh-made tortilla chips. I love to come here for a great work environment, and the coffee and pastries are fantastic(especially the flourless PB choco-chip cookies and the variety of quiches). But the green chile pork bowl has me coming back again and again and again. This place is a favorite for coffeeshop writers/workers on the weekdays and runners/cyclists on weekends. Small-town feel in the city – simply wonderful!

I’m not a coffee drinker, so places like this are usually not a business I frequent. That being said, I’ve had the pleasure of having breakfast here a couple times and while the food has not blown me away, the customer service and overall good vibes I feel here make me want to support this non-Starbucks coffee joint. There looks to be the standard coffee drinks available and when it comes to food, it’s made in house and ranges from veggie burritos to goetta quiche. Prices are in the middle to upper middle side. I don’t mind paying a little more to support an independent biz like this, and hope you can too.

I stopped in here one morning on a day trip to Cincy/KY. My initial choice, across the street, was closed, so this place got a visit that otherwise might never have happened. It is a coffee shop/café first, eatery second. The menu is pretty trim, but done well. I ordered some kind of breakfast wrap. I asked about veggie options and got a surprise answer… they actually have a soy-based meat substitute not listed on the menu. It was basically like soy crumbles, so I can’t even say that it’s supposed to be a particular meat, but it definitely added some protein and flavor to the wrap in place of sausage. I was shocked they didn’t point this option out on their menu. I know this is Kentucky, but I think that would be a big selling point to the veg market. The space was big enough for me to do some work privately, the coffee was good, and the food was reasonably priced. The service was good too. The food was brought out to my table, even though it’s really more of a counter/faster food type of service. Would go back.

I came here for some hot chocolate and was pleased to see that breakfast is served all day. They have some really good quiches here and other breakfast items to suit whatever you are in the mood for. It is not the biggest place but it is a decent enough size to allow for some friends to sit and grab a bite or if you are looking for some alone time with some free Wi fi.

Super service. Eclectic menu along side the basics. Chicken Tinga Wraps and Goetta Waffles are a must try. Family-run and just a great spot to park yourself. Wish it were closer to where I live!

I have never eaten here, but I do stop by to pick up coffee after running group meetings fairly often on the weekends. Mammoth café has good quality coffees and espresso drinks. My lattes have always been spot on and lack the sweetness that soy lattes sometimes have(I think they use plain soy milk while many places use vanilla soy milk). I am usually able to order my drink soon after waking in to Mammoth Café and after i make a trip to the restroom it’s usually ready and waiting for me. On a related note, the mural in the restroom is fantastic!

I only came here to grab some dessert after brunch down the road but it was a very pleasant experience. At about 3 o’clock we were standing before the front door and noticing that the place was only open until 3 so I was ready to walk away. But someone who worked here, came out and told us that we were still very welcome to come in. Nice customer service. I told him we were just looking for something sweet for dessert and the guy apologized, saying that they didn’t have a lot of cakes etc. However, once I got to the counter, there were a lot of scones, cookies laid out and he showed me the freshly baked chocolate chip muffins, which of course I had to try. Still a little warm, it was delicious. We got the dessert we wanted and had a very pleasant experience here. Too bad it’s quite a walk to get here, otherwise this would definitely become one of my regular spots!

4+ star breakfast and espresso! The sausage/egg/cheese panini is damn near perfect … fluffy eggs warm throughout, melted cheese, soft and chewy ciabatta. Best of all, virtually no grease so you feel fantastic during AND after eating it. The yogurt/fruit/granola has generous portions of all three ingredients and again left us feeling healthy and energized. Espresso was strong and balanced without bitterness, and my beautiful bride said she liked her latte. We love the food + vibe of this place. It’s really worth the venture over to Newport if you’re looking for fast, healthy eats plus friendly caffeine.

The coffee has always been good but they’ve recently overhauled the menu and WOW! Just had the breakfast«Tinga» wrap(if you know Mexican cuisine you’ll be confused because this is not really tinga) and it was excellent.

My experience at Mommoth Case was alright. I enjoyed an acceptable latte and my wife had some type of frappaccino. While both drinks were good, neither were exceptional. The service was what was lacking. I don’t expect employees to jump for joy at my order, but some enthusiasm would be nice. The, guessing, teenage boy who took our order was radiating bad vibes. It was clear he didn’t want to be there. I was willing accept that he was just bummed to be working on free comic book day, but the experience suffered for it. He asked if my wife would like whipped cream on her drink, which she decline, then when he was making it he added whipped cream. It was nice of him to ask, but it would have been nicer if he had listened. As far as the atmosphere goes, I like it. The room is huge, with ample seating for solo folks to groups. The walls are decorated with great prints from Power House Factories which I believe are for sale. I didn’t have a chance to eat anything, but saw several tasty looking sandwiches and sweets enter the dining room. I will give Mammoth Café another try, but only if it is convenient. There is better coffee to be had in Cincinnati, but this is a reasonable choice.

Alright, decent, fine, ok. Any adjective that describes middle-of-the-road can be used for my opinion of this spot. Not great but not bad either. Drinks and coffee are nice enough, if somewhat pricey, but the atmosphere leaves something to be desired. Besides the big windows it seems dark inside. But the outside tables would be a cool spot for nice-weather people watching on Monmouth St, and they’re also shaded. I don’t know if they still do this but a couple years ago I tried to join the Pain By Numbers running group and they gathered at this location before and after their runs. I couldn’t keep up with the runners and never joined them again, but I did think it was cool of Mammoth Café to let the group use their place as a meeting spot and allow the runners to help themselves to the ice water cooler.

My review centers between 3 and 2.5 stars – the coffee is fine. It’s fine. Nothing amazing or to write home about, but the lesser star review is for the value. Having just eaten lunch at Dixie Chili(it’s raining, it’s cold, my belly needs chili), I figured the next thing I needed was something sweet – always on my quest for local businesses, do I go to Sweet Tooth? Nope – this dreary day is for warm and sweet, and it was then that I remembered Mammoth Coffee, a place I’ve never personally frequented(though I did pick up a carryout order as a favor for a co-worker) was on my way back to the office. Score! Well, one for them, anyway when, after putting .10 in the meter, 1.00 for tip, my small special coffee cost me $ 5.65. That was a $ 1.65 more than my lunch at Dixie Chili! The ambience was nice, though I didn’t feel«super» welcome or anything. Also, I was the only female in the joint(?). At any rate, I don’t think I’ll be going back – when your coffee costs more than your lunch, it negates all reason.

Mammoth Café is a Newport coffee shop that feels straight out of the line A-OK. Nothing blew me away about it and I only came down here for a meeting. If I lived closer, it’d be a nice spot to walk to, but there are other coffee shops closer to me that I enjoy more. It’s big, that’s for sure. A giant one-room coffee shop with seats all around. There’s really nice light coming in from the giant windows, but it kind of looses me after that. Plastic benches line the beige walls. If there were decorations or artwork at all, I can’t remember it. It just seemed … eh. There are a bunch of different options for food and drinks. I got a turkey sandwich on a croissant, which was good, but nothing special, and maybe a little too expensive for a sandwich and side of chips. The staff was very friendly though and they brought out my goof quickly. Free wi-fi for the win as well. Parking is a hassle. There are a few spots for the café in a lot next door but most of them are taken up for the bank. I’m not sure if I parked illegally or not, but I probably did by accident. There is some street parking, but that’s no good if you want to spend a while at this café. There is some seating outside as well and maybe if it was warmer I would have had a better experience enjoying the sights and sounds of Newport. The café was nice. Nothing amazing but nothing horrible either. If I had to meet someone for a meeting here again, I’d be happy to go, but otherwise, I probably won’t make the trip.
