We’d never ordered from M&P before. I pulled up their online menu through Unilocal by mistake; I had searched for THE other Thai restaurant in town. I realized my mistake at once, but different menu items caught my eye. Ultimately, I decided to give them a try and am glad that I did. For an appetizer, we ordered their unique version of fried shrimp; each shrimp was wrapped in a wonton skin in a manner that results in a perfectly straight, conical shape. Deep fried, the won ton wrapped shrimp are perfectly crispy outside with a bright pink tender shrimp center. The only negative was seeing a deep black vein in about half of the shrimp. Yea, yea, I know that the shrimp vein is safe to eat, but I know it’s part of the digestive tract and can’t get comfy with the idea of eating shrimp poo. The accompanying sauce was delicious with bits of fruit(mango?). We split an entrée of Flaming Beef from the Chef’s Special section of the menu. Heat options were mild, medium, spicy and Thai. We went with spicy and found it plenty hot. The portion of beef was generous, tasty and tender. It was thick with broccoli pieces cooked just right to al-dente. The accompanying steamed noodles were delicious, perfect as the layer beneath the beef. Next time I order from M&P, I’ll skip the shrimp, but am ready to branch out and try the other dishes available. M&P delivers locally for no charge($ 15 minimum food order). I’d have rated M&G 5 stars if all the shrimp had been properly cleaned.

Crab rangoons are to die for. Delivery was a little slow but worth the wait. Pretty much everything on the menu sounds good, I’m just not fat enough to try it all at once… Perhaps someday.

Was delicious. We only had appetizers, but everything was very good. I really liked the peanut sause! Would definitely recommend trying this place out. The Thai coffee is good and our waiter was very nice and friendly.

Found the online ordering process to be a little annoying, wishing we could order over the phone, but was still hopeful! Our order arrived about 15 minutes later than the maximum time they gave us but we didn’t really mind because the delivery person was very nice. We were shocked at how SMALL the PORTIONS were for the price however. By far the smallest portions ive ever had from a thai restaraunt. We paid 16.95 for a seafood dish and it only had 5 pieces of shrimp on it. We were very disappointed. The other dishes we ordered had a sufficient amount of protein but by no means did we feel it did justice to how much we spent on them, specifically the other seafood dishes. Also, i was very surprised with the little scoops of rice that were given with the meals since most places are very generous because rice is so inexpensive, and because we upgraded most of them from white rice for an extra cost. While most of the food had a wonderful flavor the most disappointing dish we ordered was the pad kee mow. It is one of my favorite things to order from Thai restaurants and this dish was very bland with little flavor. I would like to try their food again at the restaurant but am a little nervous about the service after reading the restaraunts unprofessional replies to some of their reviews. Hopefully my next experience will be a little heartier or I will be ordering from another Asian take out restaurant that gives more reasonable portions for the price from then on. Thank you!

Attentive service, helpful, informative photo menu, kindly offered individual checks for members of our group, good introduction to Thai cuisine for members of our group who’d never eaten Thai food, nice that they offer an extensive selection of foods, including Vietnamese phở soup. My chicken satay appetizer was quite dry as were the thin slices of beef in my pad Thai. Parking can be a challenge. Great operating hours, roomy dining room, friendly waitstaff. Will go back to try other items.

They were open on Monday(which I didn’t realize was a rarity in Oregon) and they were really understanding of my «gluten allergy». They made us Celiac-safe pad thai, fried rice, lemongrass chicken and drunken noodles. The“spicy” dishes weren’t actually filled with the usual spicy pepper flavor and instead it seemed like they used cayenne. The pad thai(my usual go to) was ok. The big slices of carrots and peas in most dishes were a bit of a weird touch. Overall, it was pretty good and accommodating for gluten free options!

They have a great menu and great food. Got takeout several times and it was always fast and correct. I love the pineapple fried rice and pad thai. Thai iced tea is fabulous and so is the mango with sweet rice

Late holiday lunch, the little Thai noodle place we like so much across the street(with beautiful ocean views) was closing in ten minutes. So we tried M&P. Big(maybe too big) menu, all the traditional favorites. We had Tom Kai soup with prawns, and chicken red curry; our friends shared a duck curry. Everything was pretty good but nothing was memorable. Prawn soup had good flavor and tasty prawns, but kind of a mish-mash of boiled shredded veggies. Red curry was heavy on the coconut milk and a little bland. We ordered medium spicy and it was a bit less than that, easy enough though to fix at table. If this were the only good restaurant in Old Town it would be perfectly fine. But as it is, there are better dining choices.

My reaction is myeh. I like that they deliver, but they forgot half my order and had to redeliver. The food was simply good, not exceptional. The fresh spring rolls were… For delivery it’s good. But a friend described it as the best in the area. I disagree. Not horrid, not memorable. Myeh.

This is a response to the owner/manager/Yelp commenter of M&P Authentic Thai Cuisine who has challenged my review: I stand by my review and opinion that the noodles tasted like the Thai Kitchen brand noodles that you can get in a box at a grocery store. I can’t recall what I had ordered except it was a spicy soup noodle dish. I notice that for every 1 – 2 star Unilocal review of your restaurant, you have challenged their reviews instead of considering them. Finally, I am declining your invitation for me to call you because although I am sure it will be a very thrilling conversation, frankly — it doesn’t matter to me what your noodles are made from.

This is a place that lies to you. When we came here, the waitress brought us a menu with lunch special. However, the Thai manager soon came and took it away by saying the lunch special was only for Monday through Friday. We believed her. Later, we saw a sign outside saying the lunch special is DAILY. When we tried to talk to them about this, they told us THEYCHANGEDIT but did not change the sign. What they did afterwards was just we ordered seafood that would cause extra. This is completely a lie. The pad Thai on the lunch special was just 8.95 and then got charged for 16.95 because of the so called«seafood extra». DONOTCOMETOTHISPLACEORYOUGETRIPPEDOFFANDLIEDTO. Plus, they have been rude the whole time and asked us why we ordered something not from the lunch special. This is a joke, LOL.

6÷15÷15 Had lunch at M&P today. Service was VERY slow. Almost 15 minutes before arriving at table and taking order. After we got our soup, the waiter brought water to the table. Menu very confusing, about 100 selections. The food was very bland, no spice. Would not go back, to many other GOOD Thai restaurants.

Did an impromptu stop here for lunch while doing the Oregon 101 Scenic Byway drive. The place was busy since it was on a holiday long weekend. Service was bit slow, took them a while to get us water and take our orders. Food however was really good, tasty and flavorful. Good variety of the usual thai dishes, can’t vouch for the authenticity but overall we came out full and satisfied! Good place to stop for lunch if you are in Newport or driving by the scenic 101 route. The road outside was super busy, and took us a while to find a spot to park in.

We really wanted to like this restaurant, because of the reviews. However it was not the best Thai food we have ever had. It was overcooked and lacked flavor. We got it to go, that could have been why. There was a nice ambiance though. And it was a very clean and tidy establishment. I’m sorry to give it 2 stars, it seemed very promising, but the food was just not good.

If you are on the central coast don’t fool around with any other Asian restaurants. M&P keeps it real. Not only is the food delicious, hot, and fresh, but the service is prime and the price is reasonable. I come to eat here every time I visit the coast. Enjoy.

I am still wondering why I decided to go to a Thai place when I was on the Coast! We ordered one of the steamer baskets and it wasn’t even close to what I expected I had ordered(there was 1 scallop and 2 mussels in it; the rest was squid which I don’t eat). We also ordered the spicy(not spicy at all) Thai basil fried rice with shrimp and it wasn’t what either of us expected(yet, it was pretty tasty). Now, the sauce/juice in the bottom of the steamer basket was absolutely delicious when added to the rice. Our bill was reasonable for the order and the area and the wait staff were extremely friendly. The look of the restaurant itself was pretty cheesy. I personally won’t go back.

We hit the Thai food jackpot sensation! The pad thai I ordered was about the tastiest I’ve ever eaten. My friends gave 5 stars to their dishes also. The servers were exceedingly friendly and attentive and welcoming. Situated right on the waterfront street in Newport, it just doesn’t get much better than this.
