Great phở. I had phở Tai and it was perfect for this cold weather. Also had the Thai ice tea with boba. Perfect blend and not so sweet like others. The only phở restaurant that also serves fries!

I’m really happy that Phở is finalllly catching on in the Hampton Roads/Newport News area… 10 years ago there was approximately 1 haha, which made college life hard… real struggles. Phở 83 is a nice little restaurant located in the strip mall at Oyster Point Square. It’s brightly lit and the staff is fun, friendly, and quick. They play ridiculous music ranging from early 90’s boy bands to newer equally bad artists. The fried and fresh spring rolls are just okay, I’ve had much better, but the Bún is freaking delicious… I highlllly recommend the«B1. with pork». The food is fresh and the sauce is on point. Look forward to trying their phở next time as it looked and smelled wonderful.

We tried this place 2x’s and both have been super delicious!!! Ordered the summer spring rolls with peanut sauce, yum! Also the flank phở and vegetarian phở, both awesome! We liked this place better than Phở 79, can’t beat this place for some Phở especially during the cold weather, a fan!!!

The affordable side dishes and the chicken wings for apps make this place worth the trip. The phở broth had lots of flavor but it was forgettable. I’ve had better phở broth elsewhere. Overall the diverse menu options are great and the food tastes fresh. If your just going for the phở, it barely got the job done.

Perfect weather for my favorite phở place, Phở 83. I learned in Vietnam the restaurants are named after the street in which they’re located. In the states, normally the numbers are related to the owner’s significant numbers, this one is the owner’s birthday year. S-4 banh mi & phở ga, my usuals.

Had craving for Phở and decided to head out to phở 83 since it has good review. We ordered fresh basil rolls, spring roll and chicken wings which tasted good and in par with other phở restaurants. For entrée, I ordered phở #14 that comes with tripes, beef flanks, etc. The dish was served with bean sprouts which is fresh and crunchy. Overall, I would return to this restaurant if I crave phở. Lastly, the service was good.

Best phở in Newport News! Great service and fresh food. They also have great noodles, rice, and sandwiches. They also use fresh fruit in their bubble tea instead of that gross powder

Great price and good phở. I always try to come here with my sister when I am in town. I’ve even got her and her friends hooked on it!

Totally love this little hidden gem. The girl who works there(can’t believe as much as she and I always talk I’ve never gotten her name!) is so nice and friendly. The times I’ve gone during the day have been really slow so it’s perfect for me to just enjoy some down time, and of course some great phở or whatever else I may want to try new that day. I know you guys will love this place! :)

Go to Phở 83, not Phở 79. Delicious, flavorful broth without being fatty or greasy. Great, tender meat. Always super fresh. Clean restaurant. Awesome Vietnamese coffee. Very nice servers. If you are in the area and want phở, come here. You will be very happy.

I’ve eaten phở here twice: once for take out and once dining in. The broth was delicious and the bean sprouts/leaves were fresh, but both times the noodles in the soup were clumped together. I had to cut through the chunk of congealed noodles to eat it – that wasn’t so pleasant. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say I was just unlucky both times, because I love phở and this is one of the few Asian food options nearby. I’ll try one more time confirm(revision coming soon).

Ordered takeout tonight from Phở 83. They forgot to add extra spring rolls and noodles to my order, didn’t realize until I came home. Didn’t know when you ordered takeout, you have to put the raw meat into the canister of broth. That kind of freaks me out honestly. So I had to pull out my pot because the broth was no longer warm enough to cook the meat. So I finally dig into my phở… and its incredibly salty. Like this broth is so salty that Sam and Dean could probably ward of demons with it. I am majorly bummed. I don’t remember it being so sodium laden. I was hoping for a more complex meal than that. They did offer a military discount though…

I LOVE this place. I keep forgetting to take pictures of my food, because I scarf it down before I even get a chance to snap a photo. I’ve tried the Bun with chicken, shrimp and spring rolls. That shrimp, yo! YUMYUM This dish is light and filling at the same damn time. Where they do that at? I’ve also eaten the Bahn Mi with grilled beef. Let me tell you something right now. That bread, that bread… mm mm mm There is something special about the crusty outside and the soft chewy inside. The meat is grilled to perfection, tender but flavorful. And the pickled veggies and jalapeño slices go so well and set the whole thing OFF. Not to mention the Vietnamese mayo is yellow and delicious and adds just the right amount of creaminess to the sandwich. Whew. I need me a sandwich after all that. The cook gave me a free clementine one night, because I was the last customer. WINNING!

A hidden gem in Newport News. Fast friendly service and wonderful phở. I had the meatball phở while my husband had the traditional phở– both very flavorful and fresh. We actually think that the phở broth is better than phở 79. The spring rolls were good, the sauce was unique and less sugary than other sauces I’ve had with spring rolls. Their bubble tea is also authentic and delicious, the boba melt in your mouth, hard to find good bubble tea on the east coast! Glad we have a great place in Hampton Roads for phở!

Been a few times since it opened last year. I dont think ill be eating their phở again anytime soon. What used to be great. now when I go in the broth is lukewarm. The Eggrolls are way, over priced considering what is inside them. The noodles are geberally over cooked. The last two visits have been disappointing. I will say the Bahn MI was delicious. Will stop by to pick a few of the sandwiches in the future. But not for the phở.

Same as my previous review with a few updates… Lunch time gets really busy. There may be a wait but don’t be a rush. Give it a few minutes and a table will clear out of the way for you. If you can catch lunch before 11:30 or after 1, you’ll avoid some of the traffic. I stopped in at 11am when I had a late lunch meeting at 2pm. My intention was to sit around and do work but I found myself to be in the way. Out of courtesy, I moved to a two seater so the restaurant could accommodate a party of three. I spent the considerate amount of time at the restaurant today and although it took me a while to get in an order of spring rolls the staff treated me well and checked up on me when I felt like I was being a major pain in the ass. And for that, I shall return.

Sadly we don’t live close to this restaurant or we’d be here at least once a week. I don’t know much about the tradition of Phở, but I have been to more than a few VietNamese restaurants in my time. That said, this one is simply great! We missed the lunch rush(apparently had to wait for a table), so we walked in sat down and enjoyed an order of Summer Rolls, I had the beef noodle salad(b1) and my wife the chicken soup(p15?). I prefer the soups but wanted to try something different. I was not disappointed. The food here is simply fresh and delicious. Period. Go.

I wouldn’t call this place«amazing» by any means. But I am a fan! Why? Because money talks and their 10% off Lunch and Military discount definitely makes my wallet and my tummy equally happy. I’ve tried both their phở and their com(which I wish they had more of). I wasn’t too particularly impressed with either one. It was good, just not great. The broth on the phở just needed a little more seasoning. The rice dish, was just as good. I had the pork to go and they sure packed my to-go box with food, doubled the rice portion, which is a damn good thing, love me some rice. Their nuoc cham uses a little less fish sauce which is different from what i’m used to, but we can all agree that’s a good thing(too much sodium is no bueno). I also got to try their summer rolls, which definitely looked homemade, along with their peanut sauce. Mango boba tea wasn’t that great either. It was just okay. Service my first go around, was a bit slow and lack luster. It was packed and also newly opened, so I wont penalize them for that. I will probably frequent this place for lunch, but until they«WOW» me with their food, the 3 stars will stay.
