Great place under new owners. Menu is very inviting for many different dietary needs. You can tell the owner cares.

I think they recently changed management or something. Easily the worse meal I’ve ever eaten out at a restaurant. Everything was bland and the meat tasted off. Sides all came out cold and the plantains had zero taste. I wouldn’t eat here for free. The kitchen could not have tried less.

the service was horrible and they didn’t have anything in stock i went early on a sat and they were out of tortillas for the burrito and tacos, they did have spice mayo and that didn’t let us order half of the things on the menu.

Great food! I would highly recommend this place to people looking for good latin/carribean style food. Prices are reasonable, portions are large, food is really good quality and cooked right. So glad that we have a decent restaurant near downtown Newport News.

Great Nicaraguan/Puerto Rican/CubAn/Mexican restaurant! try the chuletas de cerdo(pork chops) with arroz con gandules(rice and pigeon peas). the puerto rican style marinade for the pork is great… owner/operators are a friendly couple.

Fantastic Cuban food. The carne asada is their signature dish. I ordered it medium and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Plantains were awesome. I prefer the sweet plantains over the fried ones. Mamba bowl is a tasty but cheap lunch. Burrito is huge too. I have eaten here 8 times this year. One of my favorite places. They do take out too. It’s hidden in Newmarket West, next to Forrest Seafood and Deyoung’s Western Wear. Hard to spot driving by. Lost one star for cheap seats and décor, but the food will not disappoint.

Tried the place for the first time on Saturday. Left impressed. Johann is an awesome host and the meals he’s putting together are absolutely amazing. The prices are definitely reasonable for the portion size. This is definitely worth hunting down and stopping by for a meal.

My first impression was that this was going to be another fast food style Latin food establishment. Its in a run down strip mall that also contains a head shop and a hooka joint if that tells you anything but sometimes first impressions are deceiving. The owner/chef is a very friendly guy from Miami. He greeted us immediately and began to explain the menu. This was a pleasant surprise. He made several recommendations and even offered a sample of his favorite dish. A dish called Cerdo Frito. The dish consists of very tender cubes of pork seasoned perfectly. I was sold immediately so I ordered the chefs recommendation. It was served with with Yellow rice and beans and a side of Plantains. The plantains were a bit under seasoned but with the addition of a little salt were delicious. The rice however was perfectly cooked and seasoned. This is truly authentic Latin American cuisine at an extremely reasonable price. Unfortunately this restaurant is not in a good location for the type of food it serves and this has resulted in a very scaled down menu. I look forward to seeing where the menu goes as the traffic increases. If your in the mood for Authentic Latin American food the Mambo grill will not disappoint.

Super friendly service! Brand new so they say they are working on décor, seating, expanding menu over time. Menu is short but they also have specials every day, and my meal of puerco asado was delicious. And the prices are very reasonable.

Located in a shopping center, it is conveniently located between Hampton and NPN. Great prices and the food was delicious. You get tons for your portions. The seasoning in how they cooked their meats, were delicious. Definitely authentic. It is family-owned; they recently opened in May 2012. They have a groupon going on for a steal! For 4 people, our total tab was about $ 40, about $ 10/person and that included our drinks. Love the atmosphere, spanish music playing, open space, it is rather small, so this location is not great for big crowds; their Hour of Operation is 11am-8pm, that’s only because they just opened. Manager promised to extend the hours on the weekend, once they get their drinking bar setup. This is not a fancy place, it’s very laid back, open, fun. Dont expect or set your standards too high when dining here; the seating was a bit uncomfortable only because their seating are like the pizzerias shops seating, benches with tables; trying to fit 4 grown women, was sort of tight! :) They do accept credit cards; they dont have a dance floor, it is strictly a restaurant with bar in the future. They dont have fountain drinks, only can sodas with a couple miscellaneous drinks. Not many selection for their current bar; all of this could be because they are fairly new, but giving you all heads up. I would recommend this place, I am a fan. Great food. All i care about is the cleanliness of the place, the atmosphere and the quality of the foo. They get high marks in these areas! Oh, and friendly staff :)
