Cures from the Kitchen

Cures from the Kitchen is an informative, efficient class with outstanding recipes. I never knew raw cruciferous veggies (w/​little or no salt) could taste so good! Nena is an informed & talented cooking instructor. I had some personal questions after class, which she took the time to answer. I didn’t have the same problems with scheduling as the people below mention, but I did run into a similar difficulty in trying to book Nena for a personal consultation. To me, It appears that she is a very busy business woman with many clients who are willing to pay top dollar. If you are not one of them, you may have some trouble reaching her!

I would like to first of all say what an AMAZING, INSPIRING, and Knowledgeable woman Nena Niessen is. She taught a small private class at Earthly Juices, in Tustin as a guest chef, and she focused on cancer fighting foods, mostly raw and living foods. Her presentation is very educated and informative and shows how easy it is to live a vibrant and whole food lifestyle. Nena is caring and thoughtful, her recipes are easy to follow and just simply delicious!

A friend and I bought coupons on AmazonLocal for the class with Nena Niessen. I had the hardest time scheduling the class. I originally wanted to go in February, but she said her class was full. She wanted me to come March 17^th, but my friend and I were both out of town for the holiday weekend. She would not return phone calls, and finally responded to some emails, but it always took forever. We were supposed to have the class today, March 24^th, and we showed up to the location listed on the certificate and on Unilocal.We waited about 10 mins, then tried to call, but no answer and voicemail was full. The lady in the shop next door showed up and said Nena moved about 2 months ago or so. Argh! So frustrating, so I jump on my phone and find the new location about 5 miles away. We show up and surprise, surprise, no one is there. There are no signs that this would even be a place to hold a cooking class… it was an office building. I’m beginning to think that this is just a SHAM business… no one else has ever seemed to take a class from her… read the reviews. Just a HUGE disappointment, since I had to drive about 50 miles to get to the class. I already got a refund, but this was such a waste of time and energy.

Nina did a great time today. Using an Amazon Local voucher, it was a great way to test the waters a bit. She offered so much information, complete with recipes sent directly to our E-​mail, and demostrated healthy dishes that tasted great! I hope to take another class soon!

Nina is the best! So knowledgeable about nutrition and it’s effect on health and disease. While Cures for the Kitchen offers cooking classes primarily focused on a plant based diet, it’s Nina’s passion and spirit that really made this experience worth 5 stars. I was seeking to change my diet after being diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. I came across Cures from the Kitchen via a Living Social offer. These classes are «demos” — not hands on. Small space, small class size– that offered the opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation. Recommend for people trying to eat healthier, especially if you are looking to move towards a «whole» foods plant based diet. Can’t wait for her book to come back in stock!
