Drove by here for years and heard good reviews so wanted to check it out. The online menu didn’t match their menu so I was a bit disappointed. The menu also didn’t have very many options and the filet mignon I ordered as medium well was WAY undercooked — basically raw. Ambiance was nice, loved the orchids, fire place, booths, etc. but service was lacking and food was nothing but disappointing. Had high hopes but definitely won’t be coming here again. For the price was extremely disappointed in what I got…

First time to A Restaurant. Steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection. Caliber of the food exceeded my expectations. We had the suckling pig appetizer, Brussels sprouts, and ribeye. Service was impeccable. Loved the ambiance/décor. Will be back soon!

The menu is seasonal which is bitter sweet for me. I was craving certain items I found on Unilocal and nope, out of season. Although there are other great items, so I quickly moved on. My family and I ordered the crispy suckling pig which was very flavorful and tasty. The steak tar tar which was good but not the best I’ve had. Wouldn’t order it again. I really liked the polish kielbasa, it was a nice starter. My boyfriend and I LOVED their filet mignon and it was amazing! I highly recommend their steak! It was quality and very delicious. Next time, getting the steak again and hopefully it will be on a Friday to try their pot pie!

This place was recommended. Server: «Can I get something to drink?» Me: «Dirty Martini…» Server: «With blue cheese stuffed olives?» Me:(Happy Place) «Yes, please… as many as you can fit in that glass». APPETIZER: Spicy Tuna on Eggplant– Delicious. AND Cornbread with Jalapeño Jam– Hallelujah(I had left overs) But I couldn’t stop, MAINCOARSE: RIBEYE cooked Medium. Great flavor. SALAD: Need greens… Chopped and tossed blue cheese wedge –Fantastic. SIDE of Broccoli(need more greens) valet parking. dark lighting. This place was an overall 5 stars. But let’s be honest they had me at blue cheese stuffed green olives!

Ugh, two years later and the service and food have taken a dive. My two companions both ordered the ribeye steaks and the wait staff handed each person the other’s steak. They didn’t know each other well so they both ate it. The waiter(Jarrod) never checked on us. We had to flag him down for a drink and he didn’t bother to ask if anyone else in the party wanted a drink. It was really sub par from what I experienced two years prior. Given the prices are about the same as Mastros, I’d say just go there.

This is my favorite restaurant of all time. Started going last year, and now make it a point to visit once every two months. We always request Yuta as our server. He rocks! Treated like royalty all the time! I’ll be headed back in 2 weeks. Yah!

Came here with some friends on NYE. We drank, we laughed, and we had an overall great time. The ambience is nice with a great energetic vibe. The group of us did just stayed at the bar and ordered drinks without food. Great neighborhood/Orange County– ish atmosphere, with a knowledgeable bar staff. Will look forward to coming back in the future.

I’m going to start by saying I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant, having eaten delicious sandwiches and salads at A market and driven by everyday for years. So I made a reservation for 6 people, for my dads birthday on a Saturday night at 8:15 pm. We arrived right on time and were told the people at our table were finishing up desert and it would be about 15 minutes. So we waited. And waited. About 30 minutes later the hostess approached us and said the table wasn’t moving and asked if we wanted to squeeze into a smaller table and add a chair to the end. But we opted to wait — after all of we were going to spend a good chunk of money on the meal and wanted to enjoy it. So a few minutes after 9pm we were finally seated. Needless to say waiting 45 minutes for a table put a bad taste in our mouthes. We ordered a variety of things including the filet, scallops, pork tenderloin, pâté, mac n cheese, pierogies, etc. My mom was very impressed by the pork. The steaks were also very good. I wasn’t too keen on the scallops. Not worth the price tag. I loved the décor but I have to say the other guests were pretty obnoxious. Lots of shrieking coming from people at nearby tables. I don’t think any of us will be returning anytime soon.

Although this place can get a bit loud when it’s packed the food and the service are top notch. While I have had a variety of menu items at A Restaurant, the Japanese beef is literally the beef I’ve ever had. The rest of the menu is great as well. If your looking for a nice evening out with friends or family this is a must go to place.

Happy New Year! This is my first review for 2016 and I couldn’t think of a better place I’d want to review. While visiting from out of town over the holiday, I wanted to pick a place that would provide an experience to ring in the new year, this was certainly the place. We reserved a table for the second seating which had a 5 course menu already put together. Also, the location is very convenient. I loved the atmosphere and the ambiance. The rounded red seats, lighting and the balloons were the perfect fit for what I wanted. It was classy but cozy and intimate. Yes, yes, yes! Our server, Stacy, was wonderful! We were vibing with her all night and she showed up at all the perfect times. She was very fun, attentive, and prompt. The whole NYE menu didn’t wow me, but parts of it completely knocked my socks off, namely the soup and the wagyu strip loin– Ohhhh buddy. If I could only have one meal for the rest of my life– it would be that soup and that strip loin. If this experience is any indication of how the rest of my year is going to go I.cant.wait!

My new all time FAVORITE restaurant in OC. Décor is warm, inviting as if you’re at a good friends house with a big fireplace and service with a smile. Perfect date place. Get a bottle of wine and let the romance begins. Wine: try Josh Cabernet if you’re a red fan Salad: Beets, not just«beers» but layered with different textures and slight touch of truffle pile that brings all the favors together. Seafood: Scallops are to die for Thursday night special: Wagu beef, fork tender. Thursday night is my new favorite night of the week. Don’t forget to say Hi to Kimo at the door. Your can’t miss him. Big Samoan with a bigger smile.

Came here twice. The first time I got violently ill and puked all my food and alcohol out. Most likely due to bad alcohol. Had the filet. Made the mistake of grinding salt on my steak. Couldn’t read the«s» that was faded on top. Not very happy. Had the fries and just died. Loved the fries. Unfortunately the savoring was short lived. But! Came back a second time and I had a great time. I really liked the food the first time and my friends liked their dishes. One had the lamb and pappardelle and the other had the chicken. Now I had a bite and that chicken was tender! Yummy! Well this time I stuck with a duckhorn glass of wine and had the rib eye. The man had the trout and both of us were happy. The veggies that came with the trout were sooooooo yummy! I hate veggies but I almost grabbed the entire plate and ate the bed of cauliflower and sorts. Steak was delicious and cooked just right. Fries — again — phenomenal! The man had the whiskey sour… Very fresh and not premixed. He was happy :) and so was I. So glad I gave it a second chance

Since discovering this place a couple of years ago, I’ve been back maybe half a dozen times, and each was unquestionably worthy of a five star rating — service, food, and ambiance were all exceptional! Corkage is a somewhat below-average $ 20 per bottle. «A» is normally dark and romantic — so dark in fact that it’s almost impossible to see! I’ve been known to use my phone light on occasion to read the menu and the check. However, the third time I came in, the place was brighter than Arianna Huffington’s lovechild by Stephen Hawking! I was momentarily concerned that the place had changed hands, but then my eyes adjusted I realized that the unusual brightness was caused by Christmas lighting. All the servers I’ve had at «A»(Brian, Staci, and Yuta) have been exceptional. On that third visit, our server was Staci. Not only has she got decades of experience as part of the«A» Team, Staci is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Her food recommendations are always spot on! With her expert guidance, here’s what we ordered: — Crispy Calamari(sweet and spicy glaze, ginger, green onion, garlic)
Staci’s comment was: «Ff you haven’t had this version you haven’t really had Calamari yet». The dish was nicely seasoned and beautifully cooked. Unlike many other versions I’ve had, this one completely lacked any rubbery texture. — Corn Bread
A’s is maybe the best damn corn bread I’ve ever tried! It’s wonderfully buttery, fluffy, and flavorful. — «Bacon, Egg, and Grits»(Niman ranch pork belly, Anson mills grits, fried egg, maple gastrique)
A symphony of flavors! The taste of the bacon, grits, and egg blend together into a deliciously euphonious dish that shouldn’t be missed. — Bone Marrow(Giardiniera, whipped tallow, grilled ciabatta, pickled onions)
Im a huge fan of bone marrow, and the«A» Team’s rendition is one of my top three(the other two being Three Seventy Common and Pizzeria Mozza). Served with ciabatta bread that’s flown in from Tribeca, if this stuff doesn’t get your blood pumping, nothing will ;-) — Niman Ranch Pork Tenderloin(spaetzle stroganoff, Portobello, garlic, parsley, roasted Brussels, pickled mustard seeds)
Staci very highly recommended this dish, and I could immediately see why! It was obvious that the pig had died happy, and had been celebrated most effectively by the Chef. — Bistro Fries(hand cut and twice fried, with truffle aioli and thyme) These Bad Boys are excellent and always piping hot! Last time out they were not quite crisp enough for my liking, but still highly addictive. «A» is a great date destination, as well as wonderful all-around dining establishment. It’s a sure thing for exceptional food, romantic ambiance, and outstanding service. Five stars all the way!

The food was pretty decent here. Ribeye was cooked perfectly, carnitas was flavorful, salmon was average, halibut was slightly dry. The charcuterie plate was very good though. I’m a little disappointed in the limited menu selection. I anticipated being able to order a more diverse selection of food. This is the reason why I rate this place 3 stars instead of 4. The ambience is dark and loud, so not a good place for a first date since you have to shout across the table. The Manhattan was delicious and crowd seems to be on the slightly younger side.

Excellent food, service & ambiance! Social Hour 3 – 6 ½ off bar apps and select drinks. Best dam mussels in Newport, you will need extra bread to soak up the buttery sauce. Unfortunately, they were sold out last time after I raved about them to our group the entire way here — bummer. The spicy tuna app was recommended by our server to replace the mussels and although I was not as «wow’d» as I was from the mussels, it was a table favorite. Steph N. ordered the mushroom soup. She loves soup and said she enjoyed this one but I thought it was pretty bland and needed salt. Ribeye steak has a bold smokey flavor that melts in your mouth… juicy, tender and the best entrée I’ve tried here yet. Friday special was chicken pot pie. I’m not a huge chicken fan but my boyfriend talked me into splitting this and the ribeye, which I’m happy we split both b/c the ribeye was the bestest. The pot pie filling wasn’t spectacular but the puff pastry was flaky, fluffy and addicting. Not something I would order again but glad I tried it. Duck dish is really good, crunchy caramelized skin on the outside with tender juicy meat inside. Tried the halibut before, which was tasty but not as good as the meat entrees. Truffle fries are even a delight. I would prefer to sit in the bar area but on weekend nights its always jam packed and the scene can sometimes be overwhelming. My pal Jeremy L. is spot on how he describes the d/b scene and chatter. If you miss happy hour, I suggest making a reservation for a dinner table so you can enjoy the big comfy booths in the back area. It’s dark, quiet and intimate but fun for a date or large group. Called last Friday and got a reservation same day for a party of 6 and we had a great dining experience. Drinks are pricey but stiff, so ya get ya monies worth.
