My wife and I ordered gyros, the salad, baklava and the rice pudding. Must say, this was the best, freshest food I’ve tasted in a long time. Totally going back. Yum!!!

This is quite possibly the best Greek restaurant in the state and most certainly the best in the Hartford area. I’ve tried several menu items and haven’t had a dud yet. The gyro is excellent and the selection of appetizers contains many winners as well. The Skordalia which is a potato dip is delicious as is the Tzatziki. So many items to try on the menu this place deserves many return visits.

Only having had takeout from here once, I suggested that some friends and I have an actual sit-down dinner on a Friday night recently. I was nervous about having to wait for a table, but we were lucky enough to show up at the right time. The waiter showed us to a cozy booth and was very friendly and patient despite the fact that I changed my order as he was leaving our table. I ended up ordering the moussaka with a side salad and the rice pudding for dessert. Everything was absolutely amazing. The portions were generous but not overwhelming and the food was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My friends all ordered the lemon chicken orzo soup, various entrees and the baklava and were thrilled with everything. After having visited Greece this past summer, I can tell that the food is authentic. Both the food and atmosphere were really great & I can’t wait until I have an excuse to come back!

My personal favorite, is the chicken cutlet grinder. It’s about the size of my Buick. Cavo’s knows freshness, great service, and delicious food. On a side note to Cavo’s staff if you’re reading this. My wife of fourteen years was ripped from me to cancer this past June. In July of last year, we celebrated her birthday there. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for always making her happy. My best to you.

Ok– lowering my rating of this place simply because service is inconsistent. Food is still amazing. However, every time we visit they have another issue. One day a few weeks ago we were turned away because they didn’t have wifi working. The waiter that turned us away was extremely rude and acted like we were doing something wrong. We were trying to give you business. When I decided to give them another shot a few weeks later, they didn’t serve us the complimentary garlic bread. Other tables around us had garlic bread and as a regular, I expected it. Food is still good, but I never know what to expect when I walk into here. So disappointing.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Cavos yet, after so many visits. They have tons of Greek appetizers, and some of the overlooked ones like the giant beans are very, very good. Their hummus & pita bread is the best around. The fried cheese is great, as is their signature lemon & chicken soup. In terms of entrees, the Greek dishes are very authentic & tend to be better than the Italian ones, at least in my opinion. Stuffed scrod, chicken krasato, shrimp santorini, any of their gyro or lamb dishes — they are all delicious. The only time I was left a bit underwhelmed was when I ordered a veal parmesan daily special. It was an enormous dish, smothered in melted mozzarella but without a whole lot else going on. Outdoor seating, friendly staff. Good salads too.

My favorite Greek restaurant in CT! It’s is a strange location — on the turnpike but, definitely worth seeking out. Upon arrival the wait staff is friendly and makes you feel right at home! For starters they have the best hummus and stuffed grape leaves(meat or veggie). For a main course try the lamb chops, gyros or any of the grilled meats or fishes. The grilled meat assortment is enough for two! Top off your dinner with a glass or two of Greek wine or beer. If you don’t have room for dessert, plan on bringing home a piece of homemade baklava — you’ll be glad that you did.

My boyfriend and I tried this place on a limb because we had received a ‘welcome to the neighborhood’ certificate for a free large pizza. We also ordered the chicken parm dinner. We were not dissapointed. The pizza was very good, however my one complaint is that the bacon was not cooked prior to being put on the pizza so it was kind of soggy. But overall delicious pizza, great sauce. The chicken parm was to die for, and was a huge portion. Enough for us to share some the night we had ordered it and for me to take some to work the next day, and it was equally as tasty! Really great small little restaurant, we will definitely be returning… free pizza or not!

Came here with a friend for lunch. Tried a couple of Greek apps that were recommended to us and had to try their pizza. Food and Service was great. Would deff come back again. Its was raining when we went there but looked like a nice outdoor patio as well.

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place. It’s our go to restaurant. The friendliness of the staff combined with the quaint seating provides for such a homey atmosphere. I usually get the octopus which is cooked to perfection but the other dishes I have tried are delicious as well. The tziki sauce is amazing. Portions are huge but I don’t complain because that means I don’t have to cook the next day :) They even give free desert sometimes and you can’t beat baklava!

This place seems busy but for the area I have had better. I haven’t tried the pizza-which a lot of people were ordering for take out, but I did try the chicken parm. The chicken itself was thick, not my style — I like paper thin chicken cutlet, as well as there was a hair in my food. The service was good, it seems like they have a bunch of the servers from Olympia diner. The restaurant itself was small and if you have a baby crying the whole time(like I did) — good luck. Overall, Joey garlics is better and right next door.

This review is limited to the FAMILYPACK. The restaurant offers Family Pack for 4 – 6 people for Take out only. You have five items to pick from, All Chicken items. I selected the Chicken Parmigano. it comes with Penne, a Greek salad and Garlic Bread. My wife and I had SEVEN meals from this Family Pack, lasting over five days. And our portions were not small. The Chicken Parm and Penne tasted as good on the fifth day as the first. The salad is tasty and Fresh. The whole cost s $ 34.99 and most people don’t tip. Great value. TRAVELKAL.

Delicious food and huge portions! I had the chicken santorini and have enough left over for another meal! I could have finished but had to save room for the baklava — yum! Definitely recommend coming here!

Best local grown place on the pike. Everything is incredibly solid on this menu. Fresh, flavorful, and so worth the wild goose chase to find it. Great experience, and caters to all ages, including families. Definitely check this place out… Immediately.

My wife and I visited for a special occasion, the indoor dining area is cramped but nice and neat the outdoor area is nice but has a lot of street noise, but clean and neat with featured furniture that reminds you of a park cook out. I ordered my appetizer of grilled calamari, which was tasty but a little to soft, very well seasoned and a serving of lamb meatballs which was delicious! My entrée was baked cod, which was a huge serving and the side dishes are huge servings as well. We both had side salads, the pasta is very good, linguini with perfect texture the garlic is not over bearing in a light crème sauce. The garlic bread is specially prepared made from scratch. Small restrooms that are average and the kitchen noise with is louder than normal since it is open air.

This place is great. Very informal. Best Greek food I’ve found in Connecticut. I haven’t had pizza here. Huge portions ensure lots of leftovers. Everything fresh and reasonably authentic. I’ve been several times and with the exception of 1 lame piece of baklava, everything’s been a total winner. —— ok, now i have had the pizza and it’s greasy but excellent. the gyros here are great and the real deal — mystery lambish meat cut from the spit.

If you have high expectations for greek food please don’t come here. I don’t get why this place is rated so high. Has no one ever had greek food before? Maybe it’s the only place in the area and so people don’t have anything else to compare it to? We ordered the gyro plate & chicken santorini. We returned the santorini due to the fact that there was nothing special about their sauce or this dish at all. It was very bland. We ordered a normal gyro pita instead. The gyro plate wasn’t anything special either. The meat was greasy. The portions are generous, I’ll give them that. Staff was pleasant but we won’t be coming back.

So before I go on about the food… I will say that they were short one chef… So things took a very long time to come out and I’m not sure if it affected their quality Overall the waitstaff was friendly and they gave us a free dessert for our extremely long wait for our meals(over an hour!!) The platters come with garlic bread and a salad. The salad was simple and nothing much to do. The garlic bread was undercooked and not very enjoyable. When the chicken slouvaki came, it was delicious! The chicken was moist and seasoned very well. My fiancé got the pork and that was even better. The platters came with rice which I didn’t care for. But the sauce and the pita were great. We both have leftovers for lunch tomorrow, can’t wait! I gave four stars because the meat was great but the garlic bread and the rice were not.

Great food and service, can’t go wrong with that combo! Have been here a few times and each time I try something different and it is always delicious! I highly recommend the hummus and pita to start. Also the gyro platter is amazing and very large portion. Best Greek food I have found in the area!
