we had dinner the other evening, the day after Christmas — it was«ok.» And that’s pushing it. The positive: service was superb & the app was fantastic(scallops). The negative: the entrées & dessert left a lot to be desired. My husband had steak tips — it had FAR too much Rosemary or something that tasted like dirt(perhaps allow the customer to have au jus or something else?) & the meat had a jelly-like texture. The chicken piccata was«eh» at best — it was too thick, too dry/tough & far too salty — as if it was cooked hours ahead of time & the some sauce was plopped on it. Chicken Picatta should have thin, tender breast meat, that is lightly sautéed just before serving — not hours ahead of time. The desert — crème brûlée, was very flavorful with a perfect texture, but it was ice-cold inside. Overall, we were very disappointed & felt like we wasted a lot of money — not sure if we will be back. Which is sad, as we planned on coming for my husband’s birthday.

I lived in Newmarket for about a year, unfortunately I didn’t discover the joy that is Ship to Shore until about half way through that time. My wife and I would frequent this hidden gem and try to sit at the bar when we could(fantastic service but limited space) or in the dining room. We would often try the escargot or whatever the chef rotated through the always fresh menu! The food was amazing and always made me happy I chose to dine there. I would recommend this to anyone who has the opportunity to dine here. The prices are reasonable for the high quality food you receive and the service always makes you feel right at home.

Back in June we had Ship to Shore host my best friends 60th birthday party. We had over 70 people and they nailed it. Everyone had a great time, music was great, good food and drinks were awesome. Staff rocked it. I come here a lot and I highly recommend Ship to Shore for any occasion. The food is EXCELLENT and the atmosphere is very chill. Servers are very attentive and knowledgeable. The owner is worth coming to see for his good humor and the locals keep coming back. Make Ship to Shore a stop on your list!

Used to go there a couple times a year. Will never go again. Out with the girls for dinner. No one in the restaurant that night but we waited 45 minutes for our entrees. The meals were awful. Waitress dropped a whole tray of food onto the floor which can happen anywhere but it further slowed things down. The chef came around to the(2) tables that had patrons. Would rather he hadn’t as it felt forced and we felt the best we could do was to offer faint praise, I hear this so much about this place that it amazes me that it stays in business.

We could not love this restaurant more. It keeps me coming back. Service is exceptional — old school attentive wait staff that take care of things before you even ask. The food! The menu changes seasonally but the short ribs, the salmon, the soups are the best! There is always something that will make your mouth water. Kevin, the owner and chef, will come out and chit chat with the patrons –making sure everything is perfect. And the whole atmosphere is great. It’s like stepping back in time to dine in a comfortable, tastefully decorated piece of history, with the roaring wood stove at its center.

The food here is always superb!!! Fantastic scallops, exquisite escargot, even fantastic chicken fingers. Kevin(owner) is delightful to talk to and always pours drinks generously. This is my weekly haunt when I live in NH.

Went to the Ship to Shore on a recent Thursday night to celebrate some friend’s 30th wedding anniversary. We arrived at 6:15 and were told there would be a 45 minute wait. The downstairs dining room was full, but the owner said he didn’t want to seat us in the upstairs dining room which was empty. We decided to enjoy a drink at the bar while we waited. After 1 hour, we talked about going someplace else to eat. We were assured that our table would be ready shortly. After waiting 1 ½ hours, we were finally seated(in the upstairs dining room!). We were disappointed to find that the menu posted on their website was different from the menu that was presented to us that night. We ordered and then waited another hour before our meals arrived. My meal was not delivered, but the waitress had a different order for me. She could not remember what I had originally ordered and asked me if I would like the substitute meal in place of it. I did not. Everyone else ate their meals while I waited another ½ hour for mine(although the waitress brought my side dish of rice and left it with me to get cold). The service was very poor. The food was just okay. The décor of the restaurant is outdated — duct tape holding the carpeted stairs in one piece. We knew we should have gone someplace else after the owner told us, when we arrived, that they were never busy on Thursday nights. We, and a lot of our friends, have gone here many, many times, but will not return again.

I really like Ship to Shore. My wife and I go every month or so for some really good food. The drinks are very generously poured. The prices are fine restaurant prices. The food is worth it. Add a large caesar salad to your meal for only $ 3. We like to sit at the bar and meet new people. Each time we have gone we have had some good conversations. We have also visited with other couples and sit at a table. I have no idea why someone would give Ship to Shore a bad review. I guess it is their opinion. We keep going back because our opinion is it’s a great place.

Relax… order a bottle of wine and enjoy charming Ship to Shore in Newfields! Start with the pesto shrimp — yum! Nice atmosphere, great service(Joanna) & hat’s off to the kitchen staff for greatly exceeding expectations. Looking forward to trying other menu items. Support this restaurant!

Reviews seem to vary(mostly related to service). Our dinner experience for a party of four was fine. Menu selection was good. We were seated in a timely manner and our server was on hand to refill drinks and to inquire how our meals were. The food exceeded my expeditions(after reading some of these reviews). I recommend giving Ship To Shore a chance.

Went to dinner with some friends. Atmosphere and service were good. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. The lobster bisque was excellent. The food wasn’t anything I would rave about except for the bisque. Everyone had a different dish from steak to fish to chicken. The chicken marsala was breaded and fried which is something I’ve never had before. It was good but I really didn’t want fried chicken. It was a little far for us to travel so it will be while before I will try it again.

Great place to have a romantic dinner! Interior of the restaurant is beautiful, nice lighting and set in a antique barn. Our dinners were not only Delicious but had great presentation~ and waitress was very friendly and attentive. I found the selection of wine to be pretty diverse as well. Will definitely make this a regular stop!

Food was actually pretty good. Service was fair; waitress seemed very overwhelmed. The décor is part authentic antique, part swill from your grandmother’s attic, but that doesn’t affect the taste of the food. I felt very much like I was the unwanted guest at our table. When asked if we wanted a wine menu, my wife said, «I have to drive,» and looked at me. As I turned to request the menu, the waitress walked away. This happened several times during the meal. There was only one beer on tap, but it was a decent seasonal, so I was good with that. So, for appetizers, my wife got a salad with basalmic vinegrette, I had the pesto shrimp. She liked hers just fine. Mine was good, as well. She had the duckling, which she enjoyed. I had the Ship to Shore(lobster pie and fillet mignon). Wife didn’t want Brussels sprouts, so she ordered the asparagus. I ate her Brussels sprouts, which were good, albeit drenched in butter. I ordered my fillet medium, it was the high side of medium well. It was tasty, and not a puck, but it was not done the way I ordered it. It was cooked enough to be less tender than I want a fillet mignon to be. The lobster pie was good. We ordered dessert, a chocolate cake with maple frosting. The cake tasted like average store bought and lacked flavor. It was also dry. Overall, if the meal had come to $ 60 – 70, we’d have probably rated it higher, but the tab for 2 apps, 2 meals, 3 beers and 1 dessert was $ 100 before tip. That’s a bit pricey for what we got. The place seems to be shooting for upscale fine dining, but they fall seriously short. They’re doing a good business, so something is working, but for that price, you have much better options within a 20 minute radius.

Service was pretty slow, Calamari RI style was most excellent! Baked Haddock was quite good as well. However, the price was more than it was really worth. I think its probably a good place to take a date for a quick drink and some appy’s

I want to like this restaurant, but I regret each time I give it another shot. The staff is friendly enough, but the service is weird, and seems a forced uncomfortable friendliness. There is no doubt this restaurant is charming and comfortable, but WHY can’t the chef(s) make good food? I ordered the calamari to start, and it was surprisingly good, and that gave me high hopes for the entrée. In the past my entrees have been bad bordering on terrible, and last night was not exception. I ordered the roasted duck, which came overcooked and coated in a disgusting cranberry glaze. The dish supposidly came with«stuffing,» but there was nothing on my plate except burned(!!) bread cubes saturated in that glaze. Come on Ship to Shore — get your act together and produce some quality food. That being said, the décor is so pleasant I might go back for drinks and appetizers only.

We had planned on going into Boston for my spouse’s birthday, but we went to Ship to Shore on a friend’s recommendation instead. We were not disappointed with the quality of the food at all, but there were a couple unsatisfactory things that happened with the service. The moral of the story is: When you’re shelling out $ 150 for dinner for two in Cow Hampshire, you’d better get service to match. First of all, I love the way the barnlike structure is decorated. The dining room upstairs, where we sat, had a very cozy feel. We ordered a bottle of wine while we explored the menu. The wine was delivered to a holding container within view of our table while our server took orders and brought food to other tables for an excessive amount of time, about ten minutes or so. We and our wine felt a little neglected, but not so much that we would complain. For appetizers, my spouse ordered the lobster bisque which he often orders when we dine out. He claimed that the bisque was the best he had ever eaten, as it contained the meat of at least one half lobster. My appetizer, pork dumplings were delicious, but was served to me just as my dining partner finished his bisque. I thought it was strange to have the two appetizers served so far apart, but the food itself was wonderful. Again, not enough to make a fuss over, but strangely inattentive. For the entrees, I dined on the filet mignon with grilled portabello and Bermuda onion for which the sauce was worth my forgiveness for the lapses in service. My spouse ordered the Tournedos Bearnaise with huge jumbo shrimp and perfectly sauteed asparagus. The culinary talent of the chef definitely earned our making a repeat trip to Ship to Shore, although we hope for a different serving experience next time.

Nice décor, good food in the past but tonight a disaster. Scallops were mushy on one side, vegitables were flavorless glop, flavorless sauce on scallops. Carrots were worse than in a UK pub … I don’t how to make carrots that bad. Nice German wine saved my night. An F at any cooking school for $ 80. Told waitress but they would not take off bill. Too bad pretty place … needs to
