We came here for a working dinner. The food was fantastic. Caleb the sommalier taught me something new about Italian wines. Our server Caitlyb was extremely attentive. We asked the manager about the recent negative reviews on Unilocal and he was transparent, suggesting that when they are doing well, the service is impeccable but when they make a mistake, it seems like they have a hard time recovering. With a little training, they should be able to retify this. This is the best bet in Newburgh.

Gave them another chance last night, glad we did. I hate to give bad reviews. We sat at the bar and were well cared for. The food quality has returned as well as some new cocktails, that were excellent! Still pricey, but at least you get quality. Once again the most beautiful spot on the waterfront

The Sunday brunch was a bit of a disappointment and certainly overpriced The view is fantastic. The service was spotty and the coffee drink were more like mud.

This review is for the Sunday brunch. The food was tasty and the selection was huge. The prime rib carving station was the best but the eggs benedict were great too. Service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is very nice looking inside, and the water views are priceless. The restrooms were spotless too, always an important consideration for me. The $ 25 price for the buffet is ok but it really should include a drink other than Newburgh tap, even if just another buck for a soda. I also wish the lobster bisque and crab chowder were on the brunch menu. I think that such an extensive brunch menu should include a soup option. I miss the aquarium that was part of the old place(same owner of B-P owned Torches too). What happened to those poor fish?

Had Sunday brunch here two days after xmas and had a nice time. Our group of nice was seated at a large table overlooking the Hudson. The service at Blu Pointe is EXCELLENT… I am sorry I forgot to get our servers name because she deserves the recognition from management. She was excellent! The brunch offering at Blu Pointe is colossal! There is something for everyone!!! Eggs, bacon waffles, omelettes, bagels, muffins, pork, chicken, fish, prime rib… and plenty of perfectly sized desserts to give more than one a try. I am taking a star away for two reasons… one, I like to have an omelette station where I watch them make my omelette. If you want an omelette the server takes your order and it is made in the kitchen… no big deal, really. The other reason is some of the hot food was overdone. For instance, both the salmon and the chicken marsala were overdone and tough. The salmon may have been sitting there for a bit… but the marsala had just come out of the kitchen and the chicken was tough. The rest of the food was very good! I had shrimp cocktail, some smoked salmon, a swiss and ham omelette, salmon with a mango salsa(pass), chicken marsala(salty and overdone), pork with apple chutney(do not miss this!!!) and prime rib with horseradish sauce from the carving station. Others in my group tried just about everything else… my father in law enjoyed his eggs benedict! We also had a few drinks from the bar. The Bloody Maria was outstanding as was the White Peach Sangria is also a hit! All in all, Blu Pointe is a great place to enjoy a Sunday Brunch… I would go back in a heartbeat!

5 stars for the ambiance, 3 for the food. Very well decorated and inviting. Feels fancy but not stuffy. Great place for a birthday dinner, family party, etc. The food was kind of meh, its all surf and turf traditional fair without much innovation or really good flavors. Come here for a cut of meat just to have it but not if you really want it to taste great. The steak was slathered in fatty but bland sauce and was overcooked compared to how they said it would come out.

Prior to coming here, I heard a mixture of opinions about Blu Pointe. They ranged from one extreme: «its overpriced and not worth it» to another: «absolutely amazing and worth the price!’ After dining there this past weekend I can side firmly with the latter. My wife brought me here for my birthday. Because she’s a vegetarian, we don’t frequent seafood/steak restaurants very often. On an occasion like this, she makes exceptions. Just to be safe, I booked a reservation through their website. They tend to me more crowded during the summer months(as does the entire Newburgh waterfront) but it was a Saturday so you never know. Parking there is quite easy with several lots adjacent to the restaurant. If you’ve never been down to this area, the atmosphere alone is worth checking out as it sits on the shores of the Hudson with great views all around. The food itself was absolutely fantastic. I went with the black Sea Bass(a special for the evening) and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. I don’t often order bass, but I was tempted and it absolutely paid off. Hope they make it a permanent menu item one day, although there were so many other things I’d like to try on a return visit. In case you’re wondering if the poor vegetarian wife went hungry… No, she did not. She had the butternut squash risotto and absolutely loved it. She exclaimed that it was better risotto than many of the local Italian restaurants we frequent have. So that was huge in terms of us ever returning here. Overall this is a great place and one definitely worth checking out. The prices are high, but for a special occasion or nicer night out its worth it for sure. We will make a return trip soon.

Great service at the bar and amazing food! Attentive staff willing to accomodate special requests. Grilled calamari… fantastic! Burger… remarkable! Steak sandwich… amazing! Drinks… they know what they are doing! Even on a cloudy day in November it’s an inviting and friendly place to come. Take note: only brunch and dinner served in Sundays… no lunch.

Blu Pointe is my favorite place to go on the waterfront. If you have not been to the Newburgh water front I highly suggest you try Blu Pointe because they have a dining area with a huge window right on the water, it is beautiful. Don’t let the city of Newburgh fool you the location is perfect –a place where you can eat on the water even in the winter time. In the summer they have out door seating and a outdoor bar. I have not once had a bad encounter with any of the staff. We especially enjoyed a charming bartender named Keyleigh last time we went, all bartenders should be as friendly(and on point). The fish is always fresh and to die for and if you are not counting calories I suggest the lobster Mac & Cheese! Very nice environment over all better than Torches(the restaurant that used to be in its place), try their Sunday brunch buffet. It’s awesome!

Food here is a bit pricey but I always felt like I’m paying for the atmosphere. The view is amazing, the drinks are pretty good, and I enjoy the tapas. I really love this place for the atmosphere, especially during the summer being on the water.

Super duper expensive. Good seafood though. Excellent fisherman’s soup. It has a great atmosphere and the outside seating on the water is nice as well. It can get romantic in the evenings with all the windows. Staff is professional and attentive. Definitely a great place to spend an evening.

The only things decent were the drinks. House starter of toasted(ours were burnt) bread and subtly sweet but otherwise flavorless eggplant caponata. Appetizer of «grilled» octopus: drenched in grease(not olive oil) — was fried. Or «grilled» in grease. Overly sautéed onions and peppers that completely would have overwhelmed the mild taste of a grilled octopus — but since this octopus was fried — all the grease went together. Appetizer: Little necks clams — Someone must have went salt happy in the kitchen — the broth wasn’t edible. Main course: A «grilled» bronzino. They must flash fry the fish then place it on a grill? I don’t get it.
Main course: Cioppino. The shrimp must have been added to the«Chef Boyardee — esque» tomato broth first. The shrimps were so over cooked you could barely get the tail to release and the calamari was as chewy as a piece of rubber. $ 140 dollars later — We left hungry, annoyed and with a greasy taste on our palate. You would think when a waitress/waiter sees that most of the food has been left on the plate, they would ask why… For the price of the meals and design of the interior, I would have expected Chef quality food and a professional wait staff. Another over priced let down on the waterfront.

While the food has improved from Torches’ days, so has the price, astronomically. I guess someone has to be the most expensive restaurant in Newburgh! The atmosphere is lovely though, and drinks are made with thought and care. If you’re looking to shell out a fortune for a meal for a special occasion or to impress, then this is your place.

We went there for a birthday celebration. Attentive staff. Nice ambiance. Good view of the river. We ordered calamari, tuna, and oysters, appetizers, they were all good. We had several different cocktails, also good. I had NY strip, it was ok. Others had filet, and red snapper, very good. Desert was very good. Overall a great place. We will go there again.

Dining here as a first-timer, I was impressed. From the view on the waterfront and the incredibly courteous and attentive staff to the excellent meals, this isn’t a spot to be missed. Tonight’s experience was amazing. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Blu Pointe!

Took a river cruise and decided to stop for a bit here before heading back home. Ambiance was wonderful the location and the staff could not have been better. Sat outside by the bar at a high table and were treated great they were understaffed but still went above and beyond to make our experience a pleasant one never rushing us or ignoring us at any point. What we ate : Complimentary bread good… eggplant meh Had the local beer good Had the Moscow mule in the cooper cup great Apps tuna tower — it was grey not red and kinda bland Oysters –great selection Crab cakes — excellent and no celery just lots of meat very happy Squid — OK wasn’t impressed should have had the grilled calamari it looked better Mozzarella Ball — tasty a little bit too much salt on top for my preference Asked about the wine cellar and even got a private tour. Looking forward to coming back and trying the scallops they looked amazing. Really the service and location make this place a jem.

Really good first impression with Blu Point. The young woman who seated us was pleasant and eager to please. The waiter was upbeat, pleasant and managed us really well. We had a light lunch that included toasted bread with a wonderful eggplant, caper, red pepper, etc spread… it was delicious. My wife had the Wedge of salad with a great tasting and textured salad dressing with real bacon, chopped HB eggs, a cheese from the ‘blue’ family. I had the littlenecks that were really fresh and tasted like they were just pulled from the sea. Crab cakes and tuna tartar tacos rounded out our lunch. Could not have asked for more. The ‘cakes’ were mostly a very tasty crab and the tuna was quite fresh. Great service, wonderful view out the windows and the new décor(formerly Torches) was open and welcoming. It looks like it has«boat» parking on the Hudson for the diners.

Food was excellent — raw bar is extensive, warm octopus salad was tasty, grouper entrée was delicious. In nice weather, take advantage of the beautiful views of the Hudson and/or the outdoor bar. The interior rooms are also very nice spacious settings. Although staff mostly were quite young, our experience was very good — from the front desk to our server all performed well.

Came here on an absolutely beautiful day. My husband and I sat at the bar outside that overlooks the water. The scenery is perfect. We ordered the petite raw tower, crab cakes, tuna tacos, and key lime truffles. The raw tower was excellent. Everything was fresh and the price was reasonable for the amount of food you get.(4 colossal shrimp, 4 clams, 4 oysters and mussels). I ordered the crab cakes and they were much better than I expected. Almost I filler, lightly fried on the outside(not greasy or heavy at all) they came with a delicious aoli as well. I did not eat the tuna tacos, but my husband said they were fresh and quite good as well. We finished off our meal with the key lime truffles. These were a perfect ending to a great meal. They were not overly sweet and a perfect portion. The service was very nice, however a bit disorganized. We ordered two glasses or water and only one was brought over. I asked for a mojito, but the bartender forgot.(the other bartender came over pretty quickly and rectified this) Finally, our bill came and had an extra drink charged, which was promptly taken off when I brought it to the attention of the bartender. If these type of things really bother you, you may want to avoid this restaurant; I try not to sweat the small stuff though. Overall, really nice experience– great ambience by the water and excellent food. It should also be noted that the beer selection was solid.(a lot of craft beers on tap)
