I love this store! The wine and cheese section is on point! Thank you Brandon for always having my favorite beer on tap!

Other than Bi-​Mart, Fred Meyer is it if you’re in Newberg and need something that Safeway or Thriftway doesn’t sell. This store was recently remodeled and now has a gas station with decent hours.
The pluses to this store are that the pharmacy is extremely efficient (even with Oregon State Beavers working behind the pharmacy counter) and I don’t have too many issues finding things. Another plus is that the electronics selection is pretty comprehensive, and you can find the essentials and then some. Oh, the store has Coke Freestyle too — one of two places in Newberg where you can find one.
The thing that drives me nuts, however, is that the grocery has somewhat of an odd layout, and is not consistent with other Freddy’s layouts. Consistency is something that many crave, yet Freddy’s /​Kroger fail to deliver. Something that I can find at another Fred Meyer store (cereal cups) are nowhere to be found. Same goes with several other items. You don’t see this kind of inconsistency with Safeway, Walmart or Target.

The remodel is top notch. The gourmet cheese bar and growler stations are great additions. It’s taking me some time to relearn where to find things, but I will get there.

I will never come back here, I may never even go to another fred meyer because of the experience I had here. They treat you like your a criminal, the loss prevention followed me around not even 2 feet behind me. When I asked if I could help them they simply ignored me and proceeded to say rude things about myself and the friend I was with on the store phone she was on. I understand the importance of loss prevention and would have been glad to have them look in my purse for any items I was not supposed to have. I don’t steal things, and I don’t like to be treated like a common criminal. Worst treatment I have ever received from ANY business ever.

I’m super impressed by the gas attendants who are all washing the windows of the cars! A nice bonus on a Friday!
Fred Meyer has a really good selection of organic and natural foods in addition to being a one stop shop… with great prices too!

When a sales associate inside the Fred Meyer Store asks a customer to scan their fuel points card, I have hear a few customers say, «No, I don’t see any benefit»…but for me it works and I save quite a bit of money on gas. It also works for me because I can go in the morning before the rush. My husband on the other hand can only get gas after work and he has always found himself in a long line and says for that reason he will not go there… He can write his own review.
Yes the lines later in the day can be quite long and I have found myself in those lines. There is not quite way in and out at that time. I go for the good deal with my fuel points. The employees are always prompt and courteous. I have seen them run from car to car to keep up. No slacking here. Not that I have seen.
Fred Meyer Gas in Newberg is always my first choice for filling up my truck.

Good prices but the SLOWEST customer service on the planet. I often bypass this station and opt to pay a little more up the street at the Chevron where the service is quick. If you choose to buy your gas here plan to bring a book to read while you wait. If the prices weren’t so good it would be a one star rating.

Nicely laid out store and much nicer than many of the other Fred’s I’ve been in. I remember when this one had it’s grand opening and I was handing out freebies like light bulbs at the grocery door. I miss the entrance on the yard care end of the store. One employee in particular is offensive to us whenever we try to shop in the children’s section. My daughter is a very tall 10 year old and this employee refuses to allow us to use the children’s dressing room because the employee thinks my daughter is older than she is.
We buy the gas there a lot! We also fill all of our prescriptions here, the pharmacy is SO much better than the other ones in town.

This is a nice Fred Meyer. They have a great store, in general. I live a ways away but stop in when I’m in the area.
Of particular note for folks traveling through wine country: This place has the best and largest selection of wines in all of wine country!
There are loads of local wines and an exceptional selection of imports, including some pretty geeky selections, which are great to see.
Whither your looking for local wines or suggestions on wineries to visit, Cyndi, the wine steward, is awesome!

What’s not to like about Fred Meyer? It really is a ‘one stop shopping center’. The Newberg location tends to be pretty clean and they carry most of the things I need on a regular basis. Staff tends to be helpful when needed and I personally like the self checkout option, for which they have 8 different self check registers. I’m not sure why more stores don’t offer this option… and why some of them are actually taking away such a simple convenience (yeah yeah, i get the possibility of people not scanning items). I just like it.

This is by far my favorite Freddies! Of course like all of the rest they have a great selection and pretty good prices. They always have lots of clearance to look through which is always a plus. What really makes them stand out is the people who work there. They are always extra friendly and willing to help!

The Newberg Fred Meyer has the best selection of gluten-​free products in town. They have Udi’s bread in the freezer next to the bakery display case and other GF frozen foods in the freezer case next to the organic aisles.

The Good: They seriously have everything. From school supplies to furniture, and from kitchenware to groceries, this store is packed of merchandise at low prices.
The Bad: Beware of some items… I have already returned a few things because they were defective.
Try: buying the stuff on sale. Good prices!
Don’t Try: the big magnet whiteboard. Mine had weak magnets, so I had to switch to a smaller size.

I remember when this store opened, it was so new, and so fresh. My friend’s mom gave us a ride in so that we could attend the grand opening where they were giving away prizes and cakes and pies. Every few minutes they would announce that it was time and if you were standing on big boxes painted on the ground, you won something special. As a child of… 10? the store was massive, stretching on in rows upon rows of food, appliances, and electronics.
Eventually, as we tired of aimlessly haunting the aisles, we decided to buy some bulk food (the only food there that came in quantities small enough for our few dollars to buy) and selected some fig newtons and trail mix. We brought them to the checkout, and politely waited to be rung up, probably the first time I’d ever been through the line myself and paid with my own money. Luckily, even though we were a few cents «over» on our bulk food purchases, the checker smiled a warm smile, took a few pennies out of the tray, and waved us through. This was the beginning of Fred Meyer as one of my favorite places.
Nowadays, you’ll find an excellent selection of groceries, dry goods, clothing and electronics at very reasonable prices.
